The King of Chu refused to yield and ordered his men to go up the city wall to kill the enemy. If the city fell, he would use this sword to commit suicide. Then his men were to retrieve the sword, ride fast horses to Taihu Lake, and sink the sword to the bottom of the lake, so that the Tai'a sword would remain in the State of Chu forever.
