This is because the White Tiger injected a certain microscopic particle of its innate divine power at the microscopic level, causing extremely complex microscopic changes in the arm of the old monk Dami, until it turned into iron.
6. The White Tiger once tried his supernatural powers and discovered that he could use them to create metals like gold.
Here's a little-known fact: all the gold on Earth is the result of the aftershocks of supernova explosions. Within the solar system, the sun alone can only produce iron at most.
The White Tiger's innate divine power is enough to simulate the power of a supernova explosion to create gold.
This innate divine power, when applied to a living person, or even an Arhat, can turn them into iron.
At this moment, the old monk Da Mi's hand had died of old age and was no longer active. Moreover, this lack of activity meant that the telomeres had stopped dividing, and the cells no longer divided. No matter how much magical power, supernatural abilities, or internal energy was injected, it was impossible to reactivate it.
The other hand turned into iron, and iron could no longer move.
At the same time, layers of absolute zero frost covered the chest of the old monk Dami.
The voice of the Vermilion Bird echoed in Zhou Yan's mind.
"These Arhats look terrifying, but unfortunately they have no divine status."
For a true god with divine status, the removal of telomeres by the Azure Dragon is a joke. At worst, the body dies, and a new one is replaced. The same goes for the White Tiger's iron transformation.
For a true god, damage other than divine damage is no more severe than having a hair severed.
But Dami has no divine status, even though he has attained the status of a Bodhisattva.
Layers of ice covered the old monk's body. He retreated against the absolute zero ice until he returned to the spot he had just come from, where he sat down cross-legged.
Zhou Yan suddenly noticed a keyword appearing in the old monk's status bar: "Sacrifice oneself for enlightenment."
Behind the old monk who was sitting cross-legged, a three-faced, eight-armed deity slowly emerged, with three eyes on his face, his right hand holding a three-pronged bell, an arrow, and a sword, and his left hand holding a three-pronged halberd, a bow, and a rope.
It was the image of the three worldly kings that this old monk practiced.
The "descent" in the name of the Three Worlds King is not the same as the "descent to land" or "descent to subdue". Therefore, the so-called "descent to the three worlds" means to subdue the karmic sins and eight sufferings of sentient beings in their past, present, and future lives, so that they may attain great liberation.
In Buddhist practice, one must first understand the six consciousnesses: eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness. Once these six consciousnesses are understood, one can open the womb and obtain the seventh consciousness—the manas consciousness. After the manas consciousness comes the alaya consciousness/tathagatagarbha, which is the eighth consciousness.
Once this eighth consciousness is opened, the womb is completely opened, and one sees one's own Buddha-nature as if seeing the Tathagata. In this way, one can be called an Arhat.
After this eighth consciousness, the Tathagatagarbha transforms into the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom, which can be used to reflect the heavens, see the past lives of mortals through three lifetimes, and see all the shortcomings and regrets, thereby achieving the golden body of the Buddha.
Of course, Dami did not reach that level. He only obtained the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom ahead of time by relying on the "Heart Sutra of the Three Worlds Winged King". Because of this, the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom still has many flaws, otherwise he would not have been killed by Wang Lingguan back then.
But now, with one hand completely dead and the other transformed into an iron arm, and his entire body encased in absolute zero ice, the status bar displayed "Sacrificing oneself to attain enlightenment".
And this Bodhi, under Zhou Yan's omniscient observation, gradually merged into the Dharma image of the Three Worlds King.
The image of the three worldly kings was instantly filled with Buddha light, illuminating the entire world. His face was solemn and holy, beyond the reach of ordinary people, truly showing a bit of the appearance of a god or Buddha.
The monk Wuyu, who hadn't made a move yet, glanced at Zhou Yan and said with a smile.
"The original tree, which has stood for a thousand years, offers a refreshing coolness to those who seek it."
The monk Wuyu entered the form of the three-world king, who was merging with "Bodhi".
No one knows what this desireless monk did, but his entire being dissolved into the image of the Three Worlds Manifestations King. Zhou Yan saw an entry appear in the monk's attribute panel: "Sacrifice oneself to become Bodhi".
According to Zhou Yan's entry on omniscience, Bodhi refers to complete enlightenment, seeing one's true nature, and realizing the ultimate luminous self-nature, which is proof of impending Nirvana.
Both master and disciple sacrificed themselves to attain enlightenment; was this a sudden awakening, a sign that they were about to become Buddhas?
Layers of ice covered the image of the Vajrapani at this moment, but before it could completely cover the image, the Vajrapani disappeared.
On the rooftop of the building where Zhou Yan was, only Zhou Yan and the corpse of the monk Dami, who was sitting cross-legged in the same spot, remained.
A few seconds later, figures appeared from mid-air. The Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Azure Dragon, and White Tiger each arrived at the top of the building, looking at the dead monk Dami with strange expressions.
Suzaku spoke first.
"Was it too easy for him to die?"
Previously, Wuyu and the second monk had encountered Zhuque. Before Zhuque could even make a move, Wuyu and the third monk had already fled. ◇〉,肆〃
Zhuque didn't sense anything amiss. These Arhats didn't have divine status, and in terms of fighting spirit and endurance, they certainly couldn't compare to true gods, but in terms of methods, they possessed the abilities of true gods.
There should be plenty of room for maneuver to escape and save one's life.
But the monk Wuyu ran away before, and now Wuyu's master has died so easily.
Zhou Yan added.
"This old monk seems to be deliberately seeking death."
The other four divine beasts remained silent.
Zhou Yan could only say one more thing.
"When this old monk died, his appearance seemed even more vibrant."
The other four divine beasts looked at each other.
"Qinglong said in a hoarse voice."
“Something’s not right. Here’s what we’ll do: I’ll stay here to guard the corpse. Xuanwu, you go and guard the Heavenly Demon Altar. Baihu, you go and find the Eastern Dipper Star Lord and ask Him to perform a few more divinations. As for Zhuque, you go and guard Zhongzhou City. Make sure you guard Zhongzhou City well.”
The other four divine beasts had no objections and each transformed into streams of light and dispersed.
Seeing that there was nothing for him to do here, Zhou Yan rode the Yuxu and ran back to Luomen City in Dongyang Prefecture.
……
When Zhou Yan returned to Luomen City, it was already nine o'clock in the morning.
At this time, hundreds of thousands of disaster victims were cleaning up factories in various parts of the city, repairing circuits, and digging roads. The city was not running in perfect order, but it was becoming more regulated. This regulation would soon turn into productivity, and then spread outward from Luomen City to gradually quell the unrest and appease the disaster victims throughout the entire Dongyang Prefecture.
Zhou Yan estimated that these two periods would take at least three years. After three years, when society had stabilized, a large number of talented individuals would emerge. Regardless of other places, most of the government management in Dongyang Prefecture would be selected from the common people, and many common people would be able to formally break through class barriers and try to become rising stars.
The future is bright.
But the more Zhou Yan thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. How could those three monks from the Western Buddhist tradition have died so easily? The young man felt that there was an inexplicable sinister aura surrounding this matter, as if a great disaster was about to befall them, and that the current bustling reconstruction scene could be easily torn apart like a piece of paper.
The problem is, he doesn't know what those three monks and their disciples are trying to do.
Zhou Yan returned to his dormitory.
Because both the Nine-Colored Deer and Su Xiaowan were working overtime at the municipal government to treat people, neither of their auspicious beast friends were in the dormitory. Only the Chongming Bird was lying on the bed, its two wings covering its belly, looking like it was fast asleep.
Zhou Yan walked over to the Chongming Bird and teased the little cutie with his finger. The Chongming Bird turned around and turned its rear end towards Zhou Yan.
Zhou Yan chuckled and stroked its feathers.
That's the good thing about pets. Just now, Zhou Yan was worried about the future, fearing that a major disaster like Zhao Wenhe's might happen again. But now, after touching the feathers of the Chongming Bird, the pressure in his heart has been greatly reduced.
If the Chongming Bird hadn't been asleep, Zhou Yan would have wanted to hug it and pet it vigorously.
"The extravagant desires of this mortal world are beyond words."
The endless grievances and grudges of humankind are beyond description.
It's all about fate, generation after generation.
"Flowing the same blood..."
Zhou Yan's phone rang.
Zhou Yan released Chongming Bird's hand and walked out of the bedroom. His precious bird was sleeping, and he couldn't wake Chongba.
Once outdoors, Zhou Yan took out his phone. The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number, and Zhou Yan answered it with some confusion.
"Hey, is your little cutie here?"
A sweet and charming voice came through the phone, a voice that had a mischievous quality about it.
Zhou Yan frowned.
"Zhang Ye!"
A spark rose from behind Zhou Yan, who then spoke to his Vermilion Bird clone using telepathy.
"Lord Suzaku, quickly locate someone."
Zhou Yan heard Zhang Ye's laughter coming through his phone.
"Sweetie, do you want someone to locate me right now?"
Zhou Yan remained silent.
Zhang Ye spoke to himself.
"My little darling, I'm giving you a chance now. All you have to do is respectfully call me 'My dearest husband'..."
Zhou Yan couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
“I will tell you what Wusheng and his two disciples want to do.”
Zhou Yan: "..."
Zhuque stepped out from beside Zhou Yan. The goddess's eyes widened, and she spoke to Zhou Yan through telepathy.
"What are you waiting for? Shout!"
Zhou Yan looked at Zhu Que with a strange expression. Although Zhou Yan felt that exchanging a simple "My dear husband" for information about Wu Sheng and his two disciples was worthwhile, his pride was still a hurdle...
Zhuque rolled her eyes at Zhou Yan, snatched the phone from his hand, then raised it to the top of her head, cleared her throat, and played the phone.
"My dearest husband..."
Zhuque opened her mouth using a pseudo-voice that matched Zhou Yan's.
Zhou Yan, who also understood voice imitation, instantly felt his hair stand on end. Just by listening, he could tell that the Vermilion Bird's voice imitation was several levels more sophisticated than his own.
"Hahaha! Good! You little slut, I love your slutty side."
Zhuque spoke again in a frustrated and somewhat angry young man's voice (Zhou Yan).
"Are you satisfied now? Tell me everything you know!"
The voice on the phone grew increasingly soft and gentle.
"Alright, I'll tell you, the three disciples of Wusheng died intentionally. They had long been prepared to die when the time came."
Zhou Yan and Zhu Que nodded secretly; they had both guessed this.
Zhuque asked in a deep voice (Zhou Yan's voice).
"and then?"
"And then what? Didn't I tell you the secret?"
Zhou Yan/Zhu Que: “(`Д?)”
Zhou Yan transmitted a message to Zhuque in a secret voice.
Suzaku said calmly.
What else do you want me to say?
Zhang Ye on the other end of the phone burst into laughter.
"Good, good, good, as expected of my sweet little wife, she is so good at understanding my thoughts."
Zhou Yan and Zhu Que both snorted at the same time.
"As for what to say next..."
"Um……"
Zhang Ye on the other end of the phone emitted a long "hmm".
Zhou Yan gave Zhuque a look, and Zhuque spoke through telepathy.
"The location of the temple is strange; it seems to be overseas. I found the nearest demigod team to go there, and they should be able to catch this guy within half an hour."
Half an hour?
We need to stall Zhang Ye for half an hour...
"How about this, let's play a skit."
Zhang Ye, on the other end of the phone, paused his long "hmm" and spoke.
Zhuque asked in surprise.
"Situation drama?"
Zhang Ye said with a chuckle.
"Yes, now, I am a strong and capable plumber, and you are a young woman whose husband is away on a business trip for a month, and the water pipe in your house has burst, so you need a plumber to fix it, understand?"
