Therefore, after all this was over, Bai Ye could not fall asleep immediately. He still had to face a tough battle. The enemies that were about to come were probably the most dangerous and powerful beings he had faced since he crossed over to the Terra continent.
Therefore, Bai Ye simply sat there, waiting for the enemy to come to him.
"Protect White Night!"
The deep-sea hunters tore open the roof of the safe house and emerged directly from underground. In any case, the aftershocks of the battle that was about to begin would be enough to destroy the ground and make this place cease to exist.
Following the three deep-sea hunters was Big Daddy.
The Ursus war machine of yesteryear, now clad in more advanced and heavier armor, tore the opening left by the Deepsea Hunters even wider before bursting through the ground and leaping out.
The powerful power backpack on the back of the power armor allows this behemoth to perform a variety of agile movements. The mobility of this metal lump is almost entirely achieved through these thrusters.
Appearing alongside the eldest father was a shadowy figure, swift and agile, vanishing into the shadows in an instant. Clearly, this was Ascalon, Rhodes Island's most fearsome assassin leader.
"Thank you everyone for staying with me," Bai Ye said softly, a little blood trickling from his nose, proof that he had pushed his mental energy to its limit.
"Given our relationship, do I need to thank you?" Laurentina gently wiped away Bai Ye's nosebleed, then picked up her weapon and looked up at the distant sky.
The enemy has arrived...
Chapter Forty-Three: The Blood Demon Lord
(I've finished Winter Rhapsody, it was so much fun, looking forward to the next one)
-------------------------------------
"Blood Demon..."
"Theresis, it seems you have failed."
The Blood Demon Lord looked arrogantly at the Regent before him.
“It’s us…” Therese corrected.
Sarkaz failed.
It's not just the Shard; clearly, such an obvious target is not the Regent's only reliance.
The destruction of the Shard is certainly regrettable, but the existence of this building was merely one part of the Sarkaz race's grand plan. The Shard was not just a weapon; it was also a key element of a certain ritual.
Perhaps Bai Ye was unaware of the antiquity and power inherent in the Sarkaz's heritage, which was as ancient as this world itself. However, he merely rode the unstoppable storm, and by a twist of fate, thwarted the Sarkaz's plans.
Yes, Bai Ye did more than just destroy the Shards Tower. In corners unseen by him, he extended tentacles along with the wind, interrupting the witchcraft ritual through natural disasters, destroying the ritual array, and swallowing the materials prepared for the ritual with hurricanes.
The dark Originium crystal cluster crashed down, destroying not only the Fragmented Building, but also the plan that Theresis and Theresia had been preparing for many years.
The Sarkaz are attempting to awaken the power left behind by a previous civilization, a seed of Originium. They try to awaken it with ancient sorcery, nourish it with magic circles on the battlefield, and harness it with the storms of the Shards.
The Originium they awaken will drag the entire Terra into the abyss, reshaping the world into the origin they seek.
“Yes, Originium…” the Blood Demon Lord murmured, “You and your sister made a promise to me that you could find the power that could reshape this land, the ‘Originium’ that the Sarkaz first came into contact with.”
The oldest settlement, Kazdel, came into contact with Originium before any other civilization. It wasn't a remnant of a natural disaster, nor a silent mineral buried in rock strata. It was an ancient Originium, a legacy left by a previous civilization.
From it came the oldest witchcraft and the oldest infected.
Now, the Sarkaz attempt to recreate that glorious moment. However, this plan is thwarted by the unsuspecting White Night.
"..." Therese remained silent.
"So, what can you do now? Would you be willing to commit suicide in front of me to atone for your sins? Boring Theresis, you always have such a lifeless face." The Blood Demon Lord cast his gaze into the distance, where he could vaguely see several figures standing.
"Theresis, our guests have arrived. They've been here for a while."
"A son of pure blood, Hurticks, and another of pure blood, the still-young death knell."
"Oh, there's one more... um?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the Blood Demon Lord suddenly froze. What surprised him was not the deep-sea hunters; in his eyes, these warriors with impure bloodlines were nothing more than deformed, inferior creations.
Clearly, what he cares about is Bai Ye.
In fact, the Blood Demon Lord had not felt such surprise for a long time.
In his excessively long life, very little had been able to stir anything. Everything, like the land he saw, was tedious.
However, today, he seemed to see something new and interesting, and a look of curiosity and fascination appeared on his face.
"Such pure blood. It's unbelievable that such a thing exists on this boring land..." The Blood Demon Lord saw the blood dripping from Bai Ye's face. No, rather than seeing it, he felt it.
A fanatical look appeared on the face of the Lord of the Blood Court. Every master of the Blood Court had to cleanse the blood of even the slightest impurity day after day. Yet now, he discovered that there was such pure, ancient, and powerful blood on this land.
"No, this land could not possibly nurture such blood. I can feel... the power and will contained within it. This technology for purifying and optimizing blood..."
Theresis glanced at the enraptured Blood Demon Lord beside him, wondering what this old red-eyed madman was up to now. Although Theresis was the Regent, the Lord of the Blood Court before him was far more senior.
This Blood Lord remained aloof from Theresis's so-called "Sarkaz Military Council," almost never attending its meetings. However, Theresis needed the power of this Ancient One.
The magical ritual arrays set up throughout Londinium were also the work of the Blood Lord, and a large part of the plan was personally handled by the Blood Court.
Although, these are now almost useless.
All the Sarkaz can do now is reorganize their army, quickly evacuate Londinium, and return to Kazdel, which was almost reduced to ruins by the civil war years ago. There, they still have a mobile city, and they can hide in the wilderness to preserve their fire.
It was just one defeat. For the Sarkaz race, who had endured humiliation for so long, it was merely another failure. But the Sarkaz would not give up. Kazdel had been destroyed countless times by other races, by the ancients, and by the gods, yet each time, Kazdel was rebuilt.
But before that, Theresis had one more thing to do: eliminate her current enemy.
This wasn't just a fit of revenge; this guy posed a far greater threat to the Sarkaz race. Clearly, the previous natural disaster was his doing. He was the greatest enemy of the Sarkaz.
Possessing the ability to summon natural disasters and storms, and capable of unleashing terrifying rays that can instantly vaporize an entire building, it is practically a mobile, humanoid fragmentation tower; such an existence is itself a super weapon.
This man must be left in Lentinium forever; he must be killed, so that his terrifying power and abilities may be buried here forever.
We absolutely cannot let him destroy Kazdel again.
Theresis didn't care what this being was—whether an unnamed powerhouse or an unknown beast lord—the point was, this guy clearly harbored hostility towards the Sarkaz. He was a mortal enemy of their race.
Moreover, now was the best opportunity to kill him. Theresis could sense the weakening of the being in the distance. The blood he left behind was the best proof. Clearly, even for such a terrifying being, the previous series of horrific attacks had taken a tremendous toll.
Therese cannot afford to give him time to recover; they must seize this opportunity. If they miss this crucial moment, it will be difficult to find another one.
Therefore, Theresis drew his longsword, his target now the distant White Night. He would stop at nothing to annihilate this great enemy of the Sarkaz race.
Chapter Forty-Four Enemies
Therese was filled with determination.
Of course, he did not deny that he was filled with anger at that moment.
Theresis was only a nominal regent; he never received the Demon King's approval. That jet-black crown seemed to possess its own will and could personally choose the Demon King's successor.
Clearly, even though he defeated his sister in the civil war, the current Demon Lord, the Crown, did not acknowledge him. He was not the Demon Lord who led the Sarkaz race, nor did he inherit any power.
However, as regent, he exploited the ambitions of the Grand Dukes of Victoria, entered Londinium during their power struggle, and began a grand plan to repair the Shards, build airships, and set up ancient magical arrays.
Throughout this journey, he had always walked on thin ice, fearing that even the slightest mistake would cause the plan to fail and reveal his intentions. He had always disguised himself well, leading the dukes to believe that his only reliance and trump card was the Shards building that was being repaired.
Therefore, in order to keep each other in check, these grand dukes even allowed the Sarkaz to remain in Londinium for four years. Originally, the plan was nearing completion, and Theresis was about to personally recreate the glory of the Sarkaz race and bring Kazdel back to this land.
However, this time, in the very end, it was all destroyed by the enemy before them.
If one could personally kill this great enemy of the Sarkaz race while eliminating him, and drink his blood and flesh, that would be a very satisfying thing.
Calm anger and the flames of revenge flickered peacefully in Theresis's heart and eyes. Although she usually wore a stern face and rarely smiled, described by the Blood Lord as lifeless, Theresis was not without emotions.
At this moment, there's no need to suppress myself anymore...
However, just as he made up his mind, he heard the Blood Demon Lord speak up:
“Leave him to me, he’s mine.”
"?" Theresis frowned.
"You don't know how precious his bloodline is."
“Bloodline?” Theresis asked, puzzled. “Even if he is a beast lord or something else, so what? Didn’t you severely injure the giant beast Ersula and turn its skeleton into the ‘Life Spine’?”
"You don't know the value of this person's existence, so what about the behemoth? You can't feel or understand the power, technology, will, and wisdom contained in his blood. They have been purifying their blood (genes) for a long time, and they have accelerated this process through artificial editing."
After a pause, the Blood Demon Lord spoke again, adding:
"This person's blood has never been affected by Originium in the slightest. He is an existence completely isolated from Originium. Either he is so ancient that he is older than Ticatz and can be traced back to before the appearance of Originium, or he does not belong to Terra at all... In any case, he has the secrets we need."
“I have no intention of competing with you for the prey… In any case, I only need to confirm one result: that he cannot pose a threat to the Sarkaz, he must die, and with him around, we can never rebuild Kazdel,” Theresis said in a deep voice.
"Ha, Kazdel..." the Blood Lord scoffed. "You siblings are always fixated on that mobile city that bears the empty name of Kazdel. It's just another resting place in the long river of suffering."
"When did Kazdel become merely a name for a mobile city? The invasion of alien races caused Tikaz to lose its homeland. So you began to retreat, shrinking and distorting the things that represented your homeland time and time again. Until it became a plain, until it became a hunting ground, until you only dared to use it to refer to your city, your village."
"..." Theresis sensed the arrogance within the heart of the ancient Blood Court ruler before her.
However, even this ancient and powerful being could not recreate the glory of the Sarkaz's past. The Tikkaz were betrayed by the Sarkaz and became Sarkaz; from that moment on, their fate seemed sealed.
This is a fact that even the Lord of the Blood Court cannot change. Even the ancient and powerful heroes of the Sarkaz race's history are powerless to alter it. They tried, they fought, but they only repeated the fate of defeat.
Suffering is ingrained in the blood of the Sarkaz; it is their destiny...
"Do not……"
Theresis raised her head:
"Although Kazdel is now just a mobile city, insignificant and full of shame to you... but, Blood Demon, for the entire Sarkaz race, that is the place we can now call home..."
"We have indeed failed, but I will never allow the Sarkaz to be destroyed again!"
The words rang out from this side, but fell in front of Bai Ye.
The moment he spoke, Theresis vanished from his spot. His figure flashed, traversing the distance before him, and appeared before Bai Ye. He cast the coldest gaze in over two hundred years, and along with it, his sword appeared.
Unlike the Blood Demon's viscous killing intent, he lacked the arrogant contempt of the Pardoner or the terrifying aura of the Carrion Eater. Compared to Wendigo, he was even slightly smaller in stature.
This was the first time the Regent had personally intervened since entering Londinium. He rose from his throne, setting aside the power he had never truly cared about, and strolled over.
“Your enemy must die.”
Theresis's voice was colder than the endless snow and wind of the Sami Ice Plains, his anger was more intense than the air of the scorching earth, and his sword was like that of an ancient Sarkaz hero, bearing the suffering of the Sarkaz race, intending to kill White Night, whom he considered his greatest enemy of the Sarkaz.
However, this sword strike was destined to fail.
Because Bai Ye is not alone.
Before Theresis arrived with the sword light, Logos, Ascalon, the three deep-sea hunters, and Big Daddy had already arrived beside Bai Ye.
This incredibly luxurious lineup was solely to ensure Bai Ye's safety and protect him through the brief period of weakness after his full release.
Indeed, this was a moment of weakness for Bai Ye. Since arriving on this land, this was the most dangerous situation he had faced. He had to confront far more than just the enraged regent before him.
He was about to face the wrath of the entire Sarkaz. This flame intended to engulf him, to destroy him, to leave him here forever, in this alien capital, buried along with the shattered building and the predetermined fate of the Sarkaz.
Chapter 45 The Shield of the White Night
"He won't die. He won't die here!"
Just as the sword light arrived, the eldest father stepped forward.
His voice was hoarse and deep, yet incredibly resolute. This Wendigo, with a speed completely disproportionate to his size and massive power armor, appeared before Bai Ye, raising his shield to block the sword light for him.
Sword and shield clashed violently, unleashing a terrifying shockwave. With a deafening explosion, the windows of surrounding buildings shattered instantly. Whether it was an illusion or not, everyone seemed to hear the mournful cry of the moving city's skeletal structure beneath their feet.
However, Big Daddy remained unmoved. The shield of the former infected stood in front of Bai Ye, protecting him with the shield in his hand.
His entire body was covered in precision-engineered power armor, a combination of Earth's, Originium Industries', and Agor's technologies, strong enough to withstand this terrifying attack. Of course, even more reliable was the person encased in this power armor.
Big Daddy, Patriot, Captain, Wendigo, Bozo Casti...
No matter what you call him, he is an unyielding mountain.
Such a figure appeared before Bai Ye, giving him an unparalleled sense of security and trustworthiness.
Therese pressed his longsword down, glaring angrily at the obstacle in his way:
"Why, the last pureblood of the Wendigo court, do you stand against us? The person behind you has ruined the Sarkaz's future, at least their present future!"
Why is this happening!
Wendigo, aren't you the son of Hurticks?
Why are you stopping me?!
You should stand with us and work together to rebuild the homeland of the Sarkaz!
