“Every time we wipe this Bodhi tree, we are wiping our own hearts. The more transparent our hearts become, the closer we can get to the essence of Buddhism.”

This is similar to reciting Buddhist scriptures; as long as one diligently studies the Dharma, the longer one studies it, the more likely one is to attain Buddhahood in the end.

However, if that's the case, then I'll change the frequency of wiping it every half month to once every seven days.

Or once a day, three times a day, morning, noon and evening.

Every monk chants Buddhist scriptures at all times.

Then, wouldn't I also be able to become a Buddha? Wouldn't everyone be able to easily become a Buddha?

However, why is it that so many monks in the world recite Buddhist scriptures every day, yet their ultimate attainment in Buddhism is not as good as that of a child who has read half of a Buddhist scripture?

Was the founding abbot of Raibin-ji Temple wrong?

Or is it that this old monk simply failed to understand the Patriarch's profound meaning?

At this point, Chanxin's brows furrowed, and he even showed a rather pained expression.

It seemed that deep within his heart, the confusion that he had finally managed to suppress and stop thinking about was gradually encroaching on his reason.

Su Li was taken aback by Chan Xin's question.

I feel like I've heard this philosophical question before...

Isn't this the story I heard in my past life on Blue Ocean Star about the Fifth Patriarch Hongren and his disciples traveling together, including the eldest disciple Shenxiu and Huineng?

However, in this world, Master Shenxiu appeared, but it seems that Master Huineng did not...

In fact, such a philosophical question is not enough to drive a person to the point of madness.

Most of the time, if they can't figure something out, they just stop thinking about it and put it aside.

After all, who would spend all their free time thinking about this, let alone letting it affect their life?

However, at this time, Chanxin was in a critical period of seclusion.

Even the smallest doubt in one's mind, if not resolved in time...

That could very well lead to demonic possession.

Not to mention, at this moment, Chanshin was questioning the ideas of the founder of Raiin-ji Temple...

They even wanted to overturn the ideas of the founder of Raiyin-ji Temple.

In other words, in this era, such behavior is tantamount to "betraying one's teacher and ancestors"...

Su Li was now unsure whether to mention Blue Ocean Star and Master Huineng's "Bodhi Verse".

The views of Master Shenxiu and Master Huineng are not a matter of right or wrong, but rather two different propositions.

There is also a theory that it was Master Huineng's "Bodhi Verse" that created a new school of Buddhism, representing a contrasting aspect of Master Huineng's thought.

Back when they were in the Dragon Palace, Su Li had spoken the "Bodhi Verse" to Wu Ming.

However, different words have different effects on different people.

For Wuming, it might just be a realization.

But for the master of expounding the mind.

Otherwise, Master Chanxin's beliefs would collapse, and he would immediately fall into demonic possession.

Otherwise, Chanxin would have awakened to this truth and entered a new school of thought.

"Does Benefactor Su have something to say?"

Seeing Su Li's hesitant expression, Master Chanxin asked.

Su Li closed her eyes, pondered for a moment, and after ten breaths, she slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing Su Li said made Chan Xin's pupils shrink slightly.

"Master, have you ever heard of these four lines?"

"The body is a Bodhi tree, the mind a clear mirror; constantly wipe it clean, lest it be covered with dust."

Su Li's voice wasn't loud, but every word he uttered was like a heavy hammer, striking Chan Xin's heart with tremendous force!

"The body is a Bodhi tree, the mind a bright mirror; constantly wipe it clean, lest it be covered with dust..."

The body is a Bodhi tree...

Master Chanxin kept reciting the four lines of poetry that Su Li had just spoken.

These four lines of poetry are undoubtedly the best description of the thoughts of Raiin-ji Temple's first abbot.

But before Master Chanxin could fully digest Su Li's words, Su Li's next words struck him like a thunderbolt.

"However, there is another 'Bodhi Verse' that says:"

No Bodhi tree, nor stand mirror.

"The Buddha-nature is always pure; where can dust settle?"

Chanxin stared intently at Su Li.

Although Chanxin's gaze was on Su Li, his eyes seemed to be elsewhere, lost in his own world.

Chanxin stood up blankly, facing the Bodhi tree.

Yes.

What is the Bodhi tree? The name "Bodhi tree" is simply a name given by people.

There was never a Bodhi tree, nor was it a bright mirror stand.

Where can there be any dust if one's Buddha-nature is pure?

If that's the case, then what's the point of worrying about dust?

Chanxin felt a violent clash between two opposing viewpoints within him.

This symbolizes different paths of Buddhism.

Chanxin felt that the four lines of poetry Su Li mentioned later could completely pave the way for a new path of Buddhism.

But Chanxin felt that something was still missing...

"The body is a Bodhi tree, the mind a clear mirror."

A clear mirror is inherently pure; where can dust settle?

Just as Chanxin's brows furrowed and his head was throbbing from the violent clash of two thoughts, Su Li continued to speak.

As soon as Su Li finished speaking...

Chanxin had already closed his eyes and sat down under the Bodhi tree.

These four sentences provide further explanation and extension.

The bodies of all beings are like a Bodhi tree, and the minds of all beings are like a clear mirror.

A bright mirror is already clean, so how could it possibly get dusty?

From trees to all living beings.

In Yu Chanxin's heart, the path of Buddhism became clearer and clearer!

At the same time, the sky above Raibinji Temple was filled with the light of Buddha.

Although there were no monks chanting sutras, the sound of chanting echoed from Raihime-ji Temple.

Golden lotus flowers bloomed out of thin air, dazzling and flawless.

Countless rays of light fell, turning the white clouds in the sky a golden hue.

In the small town more than 60 miles away from Raibiki-ji Temple, many people looked up and gazed in the direction of Raibiki-ji.

Various auspicious Buddhist phenomena appeared and disappeared intermittently.

The entire town was like a tidal wave, with people kneeling down one after another, bowing repeatedly towards Raibinji Temple.

Inside Raiyin Temple, although no one knew what had happened, many monks had already begun chanting Buddhist scriptures.

The Buddhist atmosphere and strange phenomena blend together, and the solemn Buddhist scriptures spread throughout the entire mountain range. Even some small animals close their eyes and carefully feel the atmosphere.

Inside the secret realm, Su Li had no idea what was happening outside.

However, before him, Chanxin had already entered the path, and was contemplating Buddhist teachings that differed from those of the patriarch of Leiyin Temple.

Su Li did not continue reading.

Because the following four lines are the most widely circulated four lines of the Bodhi Verse, and some people have even said that they are the four lines of the core idea!

Master Chanxin is currently in good condition and there is still room for maneuver.

However, if these four sentences were uttered, the Buddhist principles that Master Chanxin had learned at Leiyin Temple since childhood would be severely impacted.

After a long while, Master Chanxin slowly opened his eyes.

In his kind eyes, there was chaos, kindness, entanglement, demonic nature, and Buddha-nature.

Su Li could sense it.

At this moment, Master Chanxin's mind was like a taut string. If he were to utter the next four lines of the Bodhi verse, the other party would either become a Buddha or fall into demonic possession.

It all comes down to a single thought.

"Please continue, Benefactor Su."

Chanxin made a "please" gesture.

He also knew that Su Li hadn't actually finished speaking.

"Master, do you really want to listen to this?"

Su Li clasped her hands together in a gesture of respect.

Chanxin smiled and turned around, looking at the huge Bodhi tree. He reached out to touch it, as if caressing a baby's skin.

As if understanding something, Chanxin slowly spoke, each word like the sound of Buddha:

"Bodhi... originally has no tree..."

"A bright mirror... is not a platform..."

Hearing Chanxin's words, this time it was Su Li's turn to be surprised!

The Dharma is universal!

This master Chanxin has come to understand the last two lines of the Bodhi Verse!

But that's all there is to it, just those two sentences.

Further on, Chanxin simply shook his head, unable to arrive at the most fundamental Buddhist principles.

"Ugh......"

Chanxin bowed eleven times to Su Li.

"Please enlighten me, Benefactor Su."

"Master, please look at Bodhi again."

Noticing the increasing demonic nature and inner turmoil in Chanxin's eyes, Su Li knew she could no longer keep him in suspense.

The clash of ideas between Master Chanxin and others had reached its deepest point. If I didn't find a solution soon, Master Chanxin might fall into demonic possession on the spot.

Hearing Su Li's words, Chan Xin turned to look at the Bodhi tree for the third time.

"What did you see, Master?" Su Li asked.

“A Bodhi tree,” Chanxin answered truthfully.

"is it?"

Su Li smiled and shook her head.

Is there really such a thing as Bodhi?

Does this Bodhi tree really exist?

Or is it that Bodhi doesn't actually exist, but the master believes Bodhi exists, therefore Bodhi exists?

As soon as Su Li finished speaking, Chan Xin's pupils suddenly contracted.

Master Chanxin felt that a point in his heart was being slowly punctured.
