I, V, Gotham Legend

"Is this the technology you mentioned...that can teleport at any time?" Helena said, pinching her chin.
"Although I really want to make it, unfortunately, it's not." Valerie sighed, "I made this using the technology left by the Kryptonians."
The game's teleportation mechanism is a bit like taking a public transportation, except that the process of getting on the bus and the travel time are omitted. Even Valerie would have no idea how to reproduce this pure game mechanism that has nothing to do with technology.
This teleportation device was made by Valerie as a second best option. She no longer required the level of success seen in the game, and she would consider it a success as long as she could teleport.
The Kryptonian spaceship has a teleportation tool that launches lasers. When Zod and his two companions first arrived on Earth, they used this method of teleportation to skip the atmosphere.
After briefly taking over the Kryptonian spacecraft, Valerie took a rough look at the teleportation equipment through the control center. In addition, the technology tree given to her by Old Joe also covered this technology, so her makeshift version of the portal went quite smoothly.
"Look at this." Valerie pressed a few buttons on the screen of the instrument in front of her, and then the instrument cast a circle of blue light around, like a circle drawn by a monkey.
"Stand here, I'll show you how it works." Valerie called to Helena.
Helena nodded and walked behind Valerie. She looked curiously at the image on the instrument screen, which was counting down ten seconds.
As the number returned to zero, Helena felt as if a flash bomb had been dropped around her. The blinding white light made her subconsciously close her eyes.
The feeling of drifting and dizziness tugged at Helena's brain at the same time. When she came to her senses, she was already standing with Valerie in a room that she had never seen before but was full of technology.
Under their feet was a smooth turntable like a stage, but it could only accommodate about eight people. Several electric wires as thick as water pipes connected to the bottom of the platform.
"It worked! But it's such a hassle." Valerie exclaimed.
"Where is this..." Helena looked around in surprise. She had never been to a room like this before.
At this moment, a man in a white robe suddenly appeared like a ghost. His frown relaxed when he saw Valerie. "I suddenly received news that two people were teleported here. I was a little nervous. This portal has not been opened for more than 20 years."
"Then it will be busy from now on." Valerie looked at Old Joe's new clothes and was a little surprised. "You can change clothes?"
"As long as there is enough energy, my projection can keep changing its image," Joe explained.
Valerie nodded in understanding.
She didn't ask about Zod. After killing Zod in the end, Joe begged him to deal with his old friend's body, and now it seems that it has been done.
Helena looked around like a curious baby: "How did I get here? What is that light?"
"This is teleportation." Valerie confidently put her hands on her hips, then put them down in frustration. "Now it's just like the server. Our fixed anchor point on the ground can only teleport us to the spaceship, and then we can choose other anchor points we want to teleport to on the spaceship."
And the noise is quite loud, as if it had turned into light, which could be quite conspicuous at night.
It was completely different from what Valerie had imagined, where one could reach another place by just closing and opening their eyes, but the current level was the result of Valerie's best efforts in improvement. At least it was indeed a teleportation device.
"After my space station is built, I will put the teleportation center there..." Valerie said, and suddenly thought of something, "Maybe I can open it to the public to a certain extent and make some pocket money!"
This war with the Kryptonians cost Valerie a lot of money. Coupled with the squandering during this period of time, only a little over 900 million was left out of the 1 billion, and that was after making some profit.
It seemed like a lot, but it had only been a few months, and Valerie was a little proud of her ability to spend money.
"Will this thing be deployed all over the world in the future?" Helena, who experienced teleportation firsthand, looked at the halo under her feet and felt like she was seeing the beginning of a new history.
Valerie was still a little dissatisfied. The distance that could be transmitted to the spacecraft was limited. With current technology, there was still a long way to go to develop the business globally.
"Are we still going back to Metropolis?" Helena, who had been looking at the teleportation device, suddenly raised her head and asked Valerie, "Have you achieved your goal? We have the teleportation device."
"Ah?" Valerie raised her head. "Aren't we here for a trip?"
"I mean..." Helena hesitated.
She felt that Valerie came to the metropolis mainly for her inventions, and her own problem was just a side issue.
But Valerie stopped Helena from speaking: "Don't take yourself too lightly, you are my partner now, and you have been doing a great job."
"Thank you... But I'm no longer concerned about my parents' affairs. There's no need to keep you busy because of my affairs." Helena thanked Valerie for her kindness.
Seeing Helena's sensible look, Valerie finally smiled helplessly: "Then accompany me to play for the last few days. We have just experienced a war. Just think of it as a vacation after the mission is completed."
Looking at the tired corners of Valerie's fair face, Helena nodded in understanding.
"Okay, then let's go back to Metropolis! Let's play there for a few days and then go back to Gotham after the New Year!" Valerie held her head high and was very excited.
She walked to the edge of the platform and a small TV floated in front of her eyes. There was a red map on it and two blue logos on it.
Just before Valerie's finger pressed against the logo, she froze.
"What's wrong?" Helena asked from behind Valerie.
"Nothing, just a sudden call." Valerie answered casually, "I don't know if it's too early or too late to call me now."
In her field of vision, a floating window with a bat logo was vibrating, and the ringtone that she could already hum was ringing in her mind without stopping.
NO98. Who asked you
A low-key yet luxurious car stopped in front of the O'Neill Hotel, attracting surrounding residents to stop and watch.
Gotham's richest man, Bruce Wayne, sat in the back seat, looked at the streets where the panic had gradually subsided, and took off the mask on his head.
"That's why I said you've been in Gotham for too long and have become overly nervous. Judging from the moral standards of Metropolis, no one would take advantage of the panic to start looting in such a short time."
Alfred was in Hawaiian attire, holding the steering wheel in the front.
"The war is over, but we were still a step too late." Bruce said, looking out the window.
"You should have guessed it, otherwise we wouldn't have driven out in such a low-key car." Alfred said, looking at the Bugatti steering wheel in his hand.
"V is here, and so is the alien. This is also a kind of... trust in them." Now that he had taken off the mask, Bruce finally had the leisure to lower the window to get some fresh air.
It was rare for Ah Fu to hear the word "trust" from the young master's mouth, but based on his understanding of Bruce, he had to question the sincerity of this sentence.
Compared to trust, perhaps "test" is closer to the truth.
After sitting in the car for a while, Bruce took a deep breath, then opened the door sideways.
The passers-by around had long been interested in this luxury car, and when they saw that familiar face getting out of the car, no one even reacted for a moment.
By the time someone called out Bruce Wayne's name, the rich man had already walked into the hotel door.
Ah Fu looked at Bruce's back from a distance in the car, then continued to step on the accelerator and drove towards the underground garage.
Bruce was warmly invited into the hotel by the security guard with a formal smile.
After the war, the hotel's automatic blockade was lifted, and a large number of uneasy customers fled, but most of the remaining staff stayed and returned to their normal work out of trust in their boss.
"You are... that Wayne!" The lady at the front desk recognized Bruce and called out in disbelief, "Excuse me, are you looking for someone?"
"Looking for someone? No, I don't know anyone, I'm just checking in... I have an appointment with a ballet troupe, remember to ask for a bigger room." Bruce approached the lady and said with a smug look.
"Ah..." The receptionist's heart that had been stirred by seeing the tall, rich and handsome man was dampened, but she felt relieved when she thought about their private lives, "Many people checked out today, and there happens to be a large room available here... I didn't expect you to stay here at this time."
"Hmm?" Bruce raised the corner of his mouth slightly, "I'm tired of living in those apartments in Metropolis, so I want to change my taste."
"That's not what I meant... Don't you watch the news much?" The receptionist was speechless after being shown off her wealth.
When an alien attack just happened and the specific situation was still unclear, most people would choose to escape from Metropolis. It would be strange to see someone like Bruce running to Metropolis to live.
Bruce did not continue chatting with the receptionist. Playboy's performance only needed to be limited to a certain extent. There was no need to have a deep friendship with anyone.
After checking in, Bruce was led to the room by the waiter.
Locking himself up alone, Bruce took out a black cell phone, sent a text message to Alfred, and then called Valerie.
The call was quickly connected, accompanied by a strange ringtone.
"Hello? The war is over, why did you come just now?" Valerie answered the phone, and her first sentence sounded like a question.
"You're more efficient than I thought," Bruce replied, fiddling with a PDA in his hands.
"Just think of it as a compliment... Can't you be more honest?" The woman on the other end of the phone seemed to be pouting. "Why are you calling all of a sudden? If this is about an alien invasion, I've already solved it completely."
"I know. I watched the entire war." Bruce's computer captured the signal. "I have a private satellite directly above you the whole time."
"Hiss..." Valerie admired Bruce's strong financial ability, "Should I also build a satellite..."
Bruce had a sense of déjà vu. He felt that Valerie was like a child who saw her classmate's new toy and clamored to have one too.
"You should be able to do it yourself." Bruce said, and the computer screen in his hand lit up blue light.
He was locating Valerie by capturing phone signals with his PDA, his newest technological gadget, and this phone call was his most important experiment.
If the mysterious V can be located, then the functional effect of this new item should be guaranteed.
Looking at the red dot on the screen, Bruce put away the PDA with satisfaction and focused his attention back on the conversation: "V, I came to Metropolis for another important matter. A large part of Maroni's business will be handed over here. I need your help."
"You really never stop." Valerie sighed, "But now I have just solved an unprecedented major incident and saved the earth, so I need to take a good rest."
Bruce was a little surprised why Valerie suddenly emphasized this. He rubbed his eyebrows and said, "It won't take up too much of your time."
"I understand. Although I just defeated the aliens, Maroni is in the drug business after all. I will keep an eye on it." Valerie said with a deliberately emphasized tone.
"That's fine. I'll be at the hotel when you come back - the one you asked me to buy," said Bruce.
"Tsk." There was a smacking sound on the other end of the line. "Okay, okay, I've already thwarted an evil invasion today, and it's time to go back and play with the gangsters."
Bruce finally realized something was wrong. This guy kept talking about how he defeated the Kryptonian.
It seemed as if she was waiting for Bruce to bring up this topic, she was acting very pretentious.
Although he found Valerie's little tricks funny, Bruce didn't want to praise her when he thought of V's arrogant look. He changed the subject: "Try to be quick."
Having said that, Bruce hung up the phone on his own initiative.
Looking at the phone's address book interface, Bruce imagined Valerie's frustrated look after failing to show off, and couldn't help but chuckle. Then he immediately frowned and looked around nervously.
Just then, footsteps were heard outside the door. Bruce thought it was Alfred who came back, but there was a heavy knock on the door. Alfred would not be so rude.
Bruce sat up seriously, put his hands into his arms, and looked at the door with alertness.
Until the knocking on the door suddenly stopped, and after a sound of fingerprint verification, a little blue head poked in from behind the door: "Okay, you are here after all!"
NO1. Give you a piece
According to the previous investigation through the PDA, V should still be on the sea, but in the blink of an eye, Valerie had already opened Bruce's door.
Is a virtual IP used?
Bruce decided to further improve his positioning device when he returned.
"..." Valerie opened the door aggressively, her big light blue eyes staring at Bruce with resentment, but she said nothing.
Valerie was so angry when her show-off was interrupted that she came to Bruce's door directly, but when she really met Bruce face to face, she didn't know how to scold this guy.
"Good afternoon...it'll be evening in half an hour." Bruce put on a playboy smile and greeted jokingly.
Valerie looked at Bruce's deliberately smiling face and felt inexplicably uncomfortable. She folded her hands on her arms and rubbed them like goose bumps: "What stimulated you?"
"..." Looking at Valerie's twitching expression, Bruce also put away his smile, "This is a mask to hide my identity."
No one would put Bruce Wayne, with his frivolous smile and ridiculous behavior, together with the dull and gloomy Batman.
Although Valerie had seen Bruce interviewed on television a few times, she had spent more time dealing with the real person behind the mask.
"Okay, I thought you had facial paralysis..." Valerie curled her lips and fell silent again.
She felt Bruce looking at her with interest, as if waiting for her to say something.
Valerie awkwardly looked away, pretending to look at the scenery. She happened to glance out the window and saw the afterglow of the setting sun dyeing the distant buildings red.
"You haven't had dinner yet?" Valerie turned around and said, "When I was closing the door to the Phantom Zone in the sea, I saw a lot of clams on the seabed. They looked big and plump. They are perfect for making dumplings."
Valerie changed the subject abruptly, pretending to be nonchalant when she mentioned the war she participated in and some terms that the people on Earth had never heard of. This suggestive look left Bruce speechless.
Perhaps because he felt that Miss V would never stop like this, Bruce finally decided to cooperate: "You played a big role in this alien attack."
Hearing that Bruce finally got the message, Valerie showed a satisfied expression. She pretended not to care and stretched lazily: "I just did a little work. After all, I was there at the scene. Sometimes I have to stand up."
Looking at Valerie's nose that was almost turned up to the sky, Bruce just nodded: "You can use your strength in the right place, which is very commendable."
Valerie pouted in dissatisfaction, but she also knew that this was the most frank praise that a tsundere like Batman could give.
But Valerie suddenly became curious. Bruce Wayne looked greasy on a daily basis and should not be shy about giving compliments, but Batman always looked cold and acted as if a compliment could cost him his life.
When two completely opposite characteristics appear in one person, it is hard not to worry that he will suffer from schizophrenia.
"Do you get confused sometimes? Just your two identities." Valerie asked directly out of curiosity.
Bruce glanced at her, then shook his head as a matter of course: "I know exactly what I am doing and what I should do. I also know who I am."
Listening to Bruce's words, Valerie suddenly felt something strange. It was not that there was anything wrong with what the man said, but she felt like she suddenly grasped something, but she couldn't figure out what it was.
