I, V, Gotham Legend
Page 20
"A normal person's back would have been broken." Bane seemed to have regained his sanity, "You are indeed very strong."
"Master Bruce, I can't bear to see you get killed. I'm going to contact Sheriff Gordon." Alfred's trembling voice came through Batman's headset.
"No, I'm going to kill him." Batman yelled at the butler.
Bane approaches Batman and is about to crush his head.
"boom!"
Just at this moment, a bullet suddenly hit a pipe behind Bane, and venom spurted out.
Bane looked in the direction where the bullets were coming from, but saw nothing - only a blizzard.
On the terrace of another building opposite the direction Bane was looking, Valerie reluctantly put down her sniper rifle and clicked her tongue regretfully.
"It didn't hit the head."
NO36. Falling
Valerie's sniper rifle has a thermal imaging scope. Although it is also blurry, it can still clearly aim at people in the distance.
She ducked down again and put her eyes through the scope, this time aiming as hard as she could at Bane's head.
Bane realized that Batman had help, so he increased the amount of venom injected once again. The broken tubes behind him began to splash green liquid, but more liquid was injected into Bane's body through other tubes.
Bane stretched out his arms, roared to the sky, and turned around to deal with Batman first.
But there was no Batman in sight.
A hand suddenly grabbed Bane's neck from behind, and Batman took out a bat dart from his waist and cut off another one of Bane's tubes.
"Woooooooooooo!" Bane roared, his body staggering forward a few steps.
He turned around again and swung his arms back, but this time, he couldn't catch Batman.
Bane gritted his teeth and pounded the ground with both hands, causing the entire terrace to tilt as if it had collapsed.
Then he rushed towards Batman like a beast again.
However, at this moment, another bullet hit Bane's back. The bullet was blocked by the metal bulletproof vest, but it still made him stagger and fall to the ground.
The effectiveness of this body armor has never been capped, but Bane has used it to survive missiles.
But now, Bane clearly felt the bullet embedded in his back. If it weren't for his body strengthened by venom, he might have died.
Seeing that the bullet still didn't hit the head, Valerie slapped her thigh in anger.
The blizzard seriously affected Valerie's accuracy, but she was still able to hit Bane in this weather, which was enough to show her marksmanship.
Batman walked up to Bane, who was lying like a dead fish, took out a batarang, and cut off the last set of tubes on Bane's back.
He then flipped over Bane and punched him in the face.
"You've already lost." Batman clenched his fist and pointed it at Bane's face.
"I also have reinforcements..." Bane just said this.
A helicopter rose up from downstairs, and a group of Bane's mercenaries stood on the helicopter, pointing various weapons at Batman.
Batman looked up at the guns in the men's hands.
If he ducked now, Bane would escape immediately, but if he stayed where he was, the firepower they had was enough to punch Batman into a sieve.
Just as the two sides were in a stalemate, a rocket suddenly shot out from behind the helicopter, and the exploding fireworks bloomed at the tail of the aircraft.
The people above fell into the depths of the Royal Hotel along with the helicopter.
In the distance, Valerie lowered her bazooka: "It's even."
Helicopters are much larger targets and are easier to aim at.
Although the entire plane could have been blown to pieces, Valerie chose to let the mercenaries fall to their deaths rather than be blown up. If they survived, it would be their own merit.
However, Valerie also put her own enhancement plan, especially her ability to stay in the air, on the agenda.
Watching the helicopter crash, Batman fell silent. Even though these people were mercenaries who killed without blinking an eye, they were all killed in front of him.
Batman has always adhered to the principle of saving everyone who appears in front of him. It's not that he really has a compassionate heart, but the person who can bring hope to Gotham must be someone who can save everyone.
But he didn't have time to hesitate. He took out a rope and tried to tie up Bane.
At this moment, a large number of searchlights shone on Batman.
Sheriff Gordon's police team finally arrived, flying a police helicopter.
"You are surrounded, surrender immediately!" Sheriff Gordon's voice echoed on the terrace.
The Joker looked at the sky full of police helicopters and excitedly pulled out his submachine gun: "This is what a party should be like! Ahahahaha!"
Batman has already tied up Bane, and now all he has to worry about is capturing the Joker and then retreating immediately.
Valerie moved the scope in the blizzard, and even though her accuracy was poor due to the weather, she still aimed at the clown's head.
Although Sheriff Gordon didn't know what was going on, when he saw the submachine gun spitting flames in the Joker's hand, he understood who the main enemy was.
For a moment, the clown became the focus of the whole audience.
The Joker also realized that the situation was not very good, but he felt that he was now the leading actor in the theater. He threw away the submachine gun and took out a gift box from behind him.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Now comes the fun part!"
The Joker smiled and he pressed the lever.
Batman knew what it was, and he looked nervously in the direction of Gotham, worried that a building within his sight would collapse.
But the Joker called out to Batman: "What are you looking at! Bat!"
The Joker sat on the edge of the gap with his arms outstretched, his mouth almost stretched to the back of his head, when the room behind him suddenly exploded and blew him away like a cannonball.
This madman actually installed a bomb where he was!
The building where the Joker was located collapsed like an earthquake. The surrounding helicopters were blown by the shock waves of the explosion. The pilots had to operate the helicopters to barely maintain their stability.
Batman watched the Joker draw an arc above his head. Without any hesitation, he stepped on the terrace that had not collapsed yet and rushed towards the Joker.
Valerie, who was observing this place through a scope from a distance, had an expression like an old man on the subway watching his cell phone. She felt that this scene was familiar.
Batman jumped out of the balcony, adjusted his position in the air, kept his hands close to his body, accelerated his falling speed, and quickly approached the Joker.
Then he reached out and hugged the madman, and the two of them spun and fell in the air like a top.
"Oh! Bat!" The Joker saw clearly the person who was holding him, and he raised his hand to punch the man.
But Batman just stretched out one hand to block it, and then hit the Joker on the forehead with a headbutt.
The two continued to fall, and Batman tried to hold up his cloak, but one cloak could not carry two people, and they only shortened their falling speed.
The Royal Hotel has an H-shaped layout, with two buildings extending parallel to one building, and Batman and the Joker are about to crash into the building in the middle.
Fortunately, the glass roof of the building was smashed by the track that collapsed not long ago. The two of them passed through the gap. Batman took the opportunity to shoot out the grappling gun, trying to hook the remaining ceiling not far away.
His plan was successful. The hook hooked onto the frame of the glass roof, slowing the falling speed further. Even so, the two of them were still descending at a very fast speed, but they no longer had to worry about falling to their deaths.
The Joker and Batman fell to the ground, and dust filled the entire hall.
"Cough cough..." Batman lay on the luxurious carpet with his right hand on his chest. He took a hard breath, relaxed for a moment, and then immediately stood up.
The Joker had already been helped up by his men who had been lying in ambush here in advance. With Batman as a cushion, the Joker did not suffer much injury.
His men raised their guns and pointed them at Batman, and now the hero seemed to be at the end of his rope.
37. Psychologist
"Why...why are you doing this!" The Joker staggered, took a gun handed to him by his men and pointed it at Batman.
"News! I'm the one who wants to kill you!"
he emphasized.
Batman frowned and clenched his fists. Besides the Joker, there were only two thugs wearing white masks here. He was sure that he could knock out these enemies before the Joker opened fire.
But although the Joker was grinning, his bullets were shot at the clown-masked thug behind Batman.
"Bang!" A shot in the head caused the thug to fall to the ground.
The other henchman beside the Joker hadn't reacted yet. He looked at his boss in shock, but the Joker's gun was already pointed at him.
"Bang!" With another shot, the Joker killed all his men here.
Batman couldn't believe it, he couldn't understand the Joker's thoughts.
"Haha, don't worry, these two are scumbags who don't deserve to die." The Joker pointed the gun at his temple, "Just like me!"
Batman immediately snatched the Joker's gun and punched the Joker in the head, causing him to kneel on the ground.
Just then, the police led by Harvey Bullock finally arrived, their weapons pointed at Batman: "GCPD! You are surrounded!"
Batman felt like he had heard this for the umpteenth time today.
He simply tied up the clown and then pressed his forearm.
"Boom!" The roar of the engine sounded, and the police looked up at the sky in horror. A giant bat-like plane was hovering in the sky.
Batman shot his grappling hook into the sky, boarded the plane, and then immediately disappeared from the sight of the Gotham police.
The Gotham police were dumbfounded. It all happened too fast.
Looking at the clown kneeling on the ground, Gordon pointed and said, "Lock this bastard behind the black door."
……
The Royal Hotel was blocked off, and Inspector Gordon looked at his officers busy with the aftermath, exhausted.
After hearing that Batman and V had teamed up to rescue all the hostages in the police station, Gordon felt even more complicated.
"Mr. Bat asked me to tell you that there is also a bomb under your police station." A clear voice suddenly sounded, startling Gordon.
Gordon turned around and saw Valerie crouched on the roof of his police car.
The Joker was imprisoned by the police, and Bane was missing in the explosion, so Valerie simply came directly to find Gordon.
"Master...you joined him?" Gordon caught the key words in Valerie's words.
"I'm just a mercenary who does things for money." Valerie revealed her identity in front of the police without hesitation.
Gordon sighed tiredly, then he lowered his head and took out his pistol: "Anyway, I should arrest you first, Batman's accomplice."
But when he looked up, the police car was empty.
……
"Boom!"
The clown's head was pressed against the police car.
"Where are your accomplices?" Harvey Bullock yelled at him.
"Who?" The Joker looked at Brock puzzledly.
"Batman, your good partner!" Bullock opened the car door and threw the Joker in.
"Partner! Haha, officer, why do you have such an idea?" The clown heard an incredible joke.
"Who else would jump from a hundred-meter-high building to save a bastard like you!" Brock said, slamming the car door shut.
"...You know what, sir?" The Joker looked at the police officer going away outside the car window, and his smile gradually faded. "I can't figure it out myself..."
……
After Black Mask's attack, Blackgate Prison was able to restore order after several hours of cleanup.
Harleen Quinzel dressed up simply in front of the mirror. Although there is not much social demand when working in prison, putting on simple makeup while working is still basic etiquette for people in society.
Harlin is a PhD in psychology who graduated from a prestigious medical university. She was hired by Gotham as a top student with a high salary before graduation.
Although she earned a lot of money working at Blackgate Prison, the depressing environment and isolated atmosphere still put her under great pressure. If she were not a professional psychologist, she would probably be driven crazy by this annoying job.
Today will surely be another boring day. I will be doing psychological assessments on the prisoners in this prison. Then I will get off work at nine in the morning, go back to the house assigned by the unit, sleep the whole day, and go to work again at eight in the evening.
Although she was relatively well off, her unusual working hours left her with almost no entertainment, let alone friends.
