"Work, you know. My boss can only tolerate my ability to come and watch your game. I have to bring something." Silas sighed.

Victor Stone was very dissatisfied with his father's explanation. He huddled up in a ball again in anger: "I hope you know what's going on and it's not just nonsense."

Silas felt helpless when hearing his son's distrustful words. He could only sigh but could not say anything.

Because he was indeed talking nonsense, he himself didn't know why he refused the army's help, and he didn't know why he took the box.

He didn't even know why he lied to his son, the person he should trust the most. What made him feel most strange was that he always felt that this subway station was very familiar, as if he had been there not long ago.

Silas was so confused that he simply sat next to Victor Stone and stayed close to his son without saying a word.

Stone felt his father's movement, and although his body trembled, he did not choose to walk away.

There were still many people in the subway station, and they all had different reasons for not wanting to leave, but after so long, the gasps of fear were no longer so harsh.

Silas had originally planned to take a nap before sorting out his thoughts, but from a distance, he seemed to see a few ragged men walking towards them not far away.

They walked slowly and were very dirty; they must be beggars.

The subway has not been repaired for a long time. Apart from the technical difficulty and funding issues, the biggest reason is the beggars and vagrants hiding in the subway stations, who have turned this place into a kingdom for the lower class.

The central city government had considered driving away the homeless people here, but the plan was always shelved for various reasons, so this place was temporarily ceded by the city government to the people of the underground world.

Silas was going to close his eyes and pretend not to see these beggars, but for some reason, after seeing their clothes clearly, he was instinctively stunned.

Something in his memory seemed to be shattered, and his soul seemed to be in shackles. Silas stood up suddenly, holding the box.

Stone raised his head and looked at his father in confusion: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, you stay here and take care of your mother."

Silas said this, stood up holding the box, and walked away from here at the same pace as the beggars.

Victor looked at his father who suddenly became strange, and his eyes became solemn.

He was used to his father being a weirdo, but today it was really too weird.

But he didn't say much. Just nodded obediently and walked quietly to his mother who was still sleeping.

Stone pretended to check on his mother's sleep, but his eyes secretly glanced in the direction where his father and the homeless people left. He clearly saw these people walking off the platform as if no one was around.

The weird feeling finally made Stone make up his mind. He took one last look at his mother, then stood up and followed secretly and quickly.

He jumped off the platform and followed his father from a distance, trying his best not to make any noise.

He couldn't remember how many times his father had been on business trips to the central city. Even if he had been there, it was unlikely that his father's job would have anything to do with subway planning.

But Silas led the way in front of the two homeless people, and he walked with ease, as if he had memorized the subway traffic routes by heart.

The few people passed through another alley and turned a corner.

In theory, there would not be a dark alley deliberately built at this place on the subway line. Stone keenly guessed that this was not normal.

He followed, and he walked close to the wall, so his clothes didn't stick to it and didn't make any noise.

He approached the corner, but instead of turning around immediately, he pricked up his ears to listen to what was happening over there.

It turned out that his choice was right. A deep voice sounded: "You came so soon? Have those troops left?"

The person who was speaking had an intellectual voice, but one could also instinctively tell that he was quite powerful. Stone leaned against the wall and quietly stuck his head out, trying to see who was behind the scenes.

Before he peeked, he had imagined many images of criminals in his mind based on the movies he had seen and the criminals he had seen in the news. He thought he would be mentally prepared for whoever was in the alley, but he was still shocked after seeing the situation in the alley clearly.

There was a wooden bench in the alley, and a big, black guy was sitting on it.

He was wearing a white coat, like a doctor, and had a helmet with all kinds of wires plugged into it on his head, like a sea spider.

The most incredible thing is the black face. Combined with the hair that reaches his shoulders, this guy looks like a gorilla.

The gorilla sat on a wooden stool with a superior look, like a king accepting tribute. The two homeless men guarded Silas and bowed their heads to the gorilla.

"It's getting late now... and the military has been rather lax in managing these hostages." Silas lowered his head and said dully. "So, we think there won't be any problems."

"But you still brought a little tail with you." The gorilla spoke very fluently, just like an ordinary person.

Stone realized that something was wrong, so he turned around and tried to escape, but his feet were out of control and he couldn't move at all.

A large group of ragged beggars came from all directions, each of them staggering in the same way, and surrounded Stone like zombies.

Stone's feet finally moved, but he did not run away as he wished. Instead, he walked into the dark alley with his hands and feet moving as if he was dancing a robot dance.

"I think you are very interesting. At least you are more determined than most people... although I don't think you are anything more than that." The gorilla's eyes were full of playful smiles.

Stone wanted to speak, but his mouth couldn't open at all. The gorilla seemed to see his look and nodded slightly at him.

Stone felt the restraint on his jaw being loosened, and he immediately spoke: "Who are you? What did you do to my father...to me?!"

"As expected...you boring humans who have never seen the world only ask the same questions." The gorilla scratched his head in boredom. "My name is Grodd. Remember, I know humans have a bad memory, but you must remember this."

Stone didn't know whether to be relieved or angry, because the gorilla seemed to be letting him go.

Gorilla Grodd looked at Silas and said, "Look at your horrified eyes. This is your son, right? Don't worry. If you hand the box to me, you will have done a great deed. I can let him go."

Silas's expression became even more distorted, as if he didn't want to give up either of them, but being brought here already showed his powerlessness.

Silas raised his hand holding the box, and except for his expression, there was no sign of hesitation or trembling on his face.

Gorilla Grodd did not take the box. He raised his head slightly, and Silas took the initiative to open the box.

Grodd craned his neck and saw a square box full of technology quietly placed inside.

"Is this the Mother Box?" Although he already knew it, Grodd still asked Silas.

"That should be it. Mine looks like this too." A cool voice answered him.

Grodd's heart trembled. He turned around and saw Valerie with long black hair smiling at him.

"Who are you? When did you come here?!" Grodd widened his eyes.

Valerie laughed contemptuously: "You are just a bunch of idiots. You all say the same thing when you see me. You are not that advanced."

Grodd, however, had a serious look on his face. His bad expression was certainly not simply because he was approached.

Grodd possesses telepathic and mind-detecting abilities, especially with the augmented device on his head.

Logically, he should have noticed the approach of any thoughtful person, but he had no recollection of when Valerie came over.

If his superpowers weren't being targeted, then there was only one possibility.

"You have no brains?!" Grodd couldn't help but say.

The gorilla's politeness made Valerie shut up her teasing mouth. She pouted unhappily: "Are you sick? Did I scold you?"

The sudden appearance of the woman made Grodd realize that the situation was out of control. Instead of answering Valerie, he reached out his hand to Silas.

"Mother Box! Give it to me!"

Silas closed the box and threw it towards Grodd, but before the gorilla opened his arms to hug the thing, a bolt of lightning and a strong wind appeared in the box's path.

"Thank you." The Flash jumped up and caught the silver box.

"Who are you?!" Grodd seemed to have seen the Flash, and he bared his teeth like a monkey.

"It's you, gorilla." The Flash looked at Valerie with an expression of seeing an old acquaintance. "This guy gathered a group of gorillas a few months ago to invade Central City, but I stopped him. I was wondering where he ran off to. It turns out that he was hiding in the subway line."

"Flash!" Grodd was furious. The headband with several wires tied to his head lit up red, as if he was about to use some powerful move.

The Flash reacted quickly enough. He activated his speed force first, turned into a gust of wind, and ran away from the scene.

Grodd looked at the Flash who disappeared in the blink of an eye, and his chest heaved with anger, but his ultimate move was ready and he couldn't just use it in vain.

He switched his target to Valerie beside him, and a mental shock hit Valerie's head directly. Then his veins bulged and he tried to control Valerie's head.

The mental shock was indeed effective. Valerie raised her head as if she was hit by a hammer, and then slowly returned to its original position.

"As expected, low-level humans can only become tools that I control." Gorilla Grodd snorted disdainfully and pointed in the direction where the Flash ran away - a group of people were knocked down there. "Call your accomplices back."

He did not say specifically what to do; these are the subjective initiatives that a controlled machine should have.

Valerie slowly lowered her head and walked slowly towards Grodd, looking like she was really heading in the direction that the Flash had left.

But it was just an appearance after all, as she suddenly reached out and grabbed Grodd's arm.

The gorilla felt an unimaginable force. He was caught by Valerie, swung in the sky like a sledgehammer, and finally smashed to the ground.

Dust and stones flew everywhere, and Gerudo was in so much pain that he couldn't even scream.

How is this possible?! Shouldn't I be controlling it?!

Grodd took a deep breath, trying to adjust his state and mentality, and restore his vision, which was blurred by the pain, to normal.

Valerie's delicate face came into view, and thought was written on her face.

"Are you also a mind control person? Are you strong?" Valerie asked sincerely.

Before coming in, Batman said that he felt someone was trying to control his mind, and there was obviously an extremely dangerous existence below.

Because of this, Valerie was a little nervous. Although she had guessed that she seemed to be immune to most mind control, she was still worried that she would capsize in the gutter.

Facts have proved that all worries are nonsense. Grodd is now pinned to the ground by Valerie, his dark face full of disbelief.

NO13. Death Struggle

Valerie grabbed Gorilla Grodd's collar with one hand and put her other hand on the guy's helmet.

"Is this the thing that controls the beggars' minds?" Valerie muttered.

"You can do that, as long as you don't worry about the lives of these guys." Gerudo smiled with ease, "As long as you violently remove my brain control device, or choose to take my life now, the brains of these guys will be torn into paste by the violent mental power."

"Are you threatening me with hostages?" Valerie frowned.

"This has never been a problem. This helmet is just an amplifier. I know my own abilities best." Grodd said relaxedly.

Valerie pouted, then kicked Grodd in the stomach.

The gorilla spat out blood foam in a very human way and looked at Valerie in disbelief.

"There are many hostages here, but there is only one of you, and you are in my hands." Valerie held Gerudo's arm with a smile on her face, "You'd better release those hostages, otherwise I will remove your organs one by one and see which one will make you behave."

"Aren't you afraid that I will kill you right now?!" Grodd tried to pull Valerie's arm, but Valerie's body didn't move at all, so he had to threaten her verbally.

"I can't save everyone, so you can try. Every time you get rid of a hostage, my methods will become more cruel." As she said this, Valerie exerted a little force, and Grodd could already feel his bones creaking.

Valerie had dealt with many super criminals and even street thugs, and she knew that facing such people, normal negotiations when one had the upper hand would lead to failure.

Grodd already felt the pain, and his facial expression was distorted.

Perhaps it was the dignity of a superior that made him unwilling to admit defeat. He set his eyes on Victor Stone who was not far away, wanting to manipulate him into committing suicide to prove that what he said was true.

Grund's eyes and the ring on his head lit up, and he was about to use his innate abilities.

Almost at the same time, a thunderous sound was heard. This noise that made people's heads resonate was obviously not related to Grodd. The gorilla's head was shaking.

Grodd's skill was suddenly interrupted, and he ignored the danger to his life and looked towards the place where the sound came from with Valerie.

The Flash Barry was seen flying backwards in an arc on the subway line, rolling several times on the ground.

Valerie noticed that the Flash's limbs were twisted abnormally, and she waved her hands: "You look like you have broken bones! What happened?!"

"Sorry...an accident happened and a big guy suddenly ran out." Even though his legs were broken, the Flash still held the Mother Box tightly.

"Use the healing medicine I gave you in advance!" Valerie shouted.

"Don't worry... I'll heal this minor injury soon..." The Flash spat out a mouthful of blood. His voice was full of energy and he didn't sound like he was trying to be brave, but he still took out a syringe from his pocket as Valerie said.

"Boom...boom..."

Before the Flash could inject himself with the potion, a heavy footstep was heard, and a monster nearly four meters tall, wrapped in silver armor, slowly walked into the sight of several people.

His helmet had crown-like horns that extended out to the sides of his head, almost as wide as his shoulders.

"Hmph..." Heavy breathing sounds came from under the armor. It was obvious that he was not very adapted to the air on Earth.

"It's this big guy. I was running just now, and suddenly a beam of light came in from outside and punched me, and then this guy ran out." The Flash seemed to be explaining to Valerie.

Before Valerie could answer, Grodd, who was being held down by her, raised his head and excitedly shouted to the giant who suddenly appeared: "That person was talking to me about you, right? Steppenwolf."

Grodd suddenly told Valerie to hold her arms tight. If this guy had anything to do with Apocalypse, maybe they couldn't just kill him like that. At least they had to torture him to get more information.
