I, V, Gotham Legend
Page 39
The Mad Hatter smiled gently, but he was already dissatisfied in his heart.
Not as good as that one. She is the real Alice. So boring. Let’s send this guy away later.
Jervis knew several sources through which he could sell the girl to make up for the losses incurred from his research on the hypnotic device.
The girl picked up the teacup, raised it tremblingly, and slowly brought it to her lips, her big eyes full of helplessness.
"Boom!"
It seemed that there was a sound of a door opening outside the room. Did someone come in?
Sansa looked back immediately. She was not curious about who had come, she just wanted to stay away from the cup of black tea.
"Who is it?" The Mad Hatter was a little nervous. No one should come here at this time, and he was not ready to be exposed.
The door to the room opened and two people wearing rabbit masks walked in.
"Tea talk, tea party." They both murmured at the same time.
"What's wrong with you? I didn't invite you!" the Mad Hatter shouted dissatisfiedly.
"Did you invite me?" A hand pressed on the Mad Hatter's big hat from behind.
"Who is it!" The Mad Hatter turned around and saw the blue-haired woman he had been dreaming about.
"Alice! Are you here to see me?" the Mad Hatter exclaimed in surprise.
Valerie didn't say anything, she just punched the Mad Hatter in the face, knocking him away.
The Mad Hatter flew three or four meters and fell to the ground.
The hat rolled to one side and Jarvis immediately reached out and grabbed it and put it back on his head.
"No! Alice! You should wake up!" Jarvis climbed up tenaciously and waved towards the tea table.
"Animal friends! We should let her join us!"
The burly men wearing rabbit masks immediately stood up and ran towards blue-haired Alice with their teeth bared.
The blue-haired woman seemed to want to run, but there were too many people here and she was surrounded. She had nowhere to escape for a moment and could only wave her thin limbs helplessly.
But how could a woman compete with so many men? The blue-haired woman was quickly pinned to the ground.
"No! Let me go! I was wrong! Please spare my life!" she screamed in fear.
The Mad Hatter picked up the rabbit mask on the table and jumped in front of the woman happily: "Finally! You are finally mine!"
Ignoring Valerie's struggling head, he forced the mask onto her face.
Valerie soon gave up struggling and she finally became Alice.
"Finally! Finally! Let's have a tea party! My Alice!" The Mad Hatter laughed. He felt so lucky...
……
Jarvis was lying on the ground, dancing, as if he had seen something very happy.
Valerie put the hat aside, helped Sansa up from her chair, and wiped away the tears from her eyes: "It's all right now."
Sansa hadn't recovered yet. She hugged Valerie's waist, buried her face in her chest, and trembled all over.
Valerie patted the girl's back comfortingly and looked up at the masked thugs sitting at a table.
Valerie's technical ability is as high as twenty, and she can imitate or even make something more advanced with just a little research.
After entering the room, she turned on the scanner carefully and saw at a glance that the hat on Jarvis' head was a prop used for hypnosis.
So she touched Jarvis's hat, studied the principle, and then made a similar prop. After punching Jarvis, she hypnotized him at the same time.
Now the Mad Hatter was still rolling on the ground, laughing hysterically, and it seemed that he had won the hallucination.
Valerie found it quite creepy. This kind of technological means could not be handled by the flesh alone. If she had not been prepared, she might be the one lying on the ground now.
The thought of lying defenseless in front of the pervert made Valerie feel a chill all over her body.
"Hide there and don't peek." Valerie pointed to a wardrobe not far away. She planned to get rid of the Mad Hatter here, but she couldn't just leave the little girl alone.
She had an appointment with Batman.
It's almost night now, and it's not safe to let the little girl go home by herself. But the scene might be a bit bloody, so it's better to let the child stay away.
Valerie sat where Sansa had sat before, put the hat back on her head, and manipulated the Mad Hatter to sit back in his seat.
The Mad Hatter jumped back on his chair happily, and then his chaotic eyes brightened up again.
"Alice, would you like some tea?" Jarvis was still excited, but suddenly realized something was wrong. "Where's your mask?"
"I ask, you answer." Valerie crossed her arms. "If you don't want to suffer, you'd better cooperate with me."
"What are you talking about? Alice? Aren't we best friends?" The Mad Hatter still didn't understand the situation.
"No, why are you wearing my hat?...Huh? I'm still wearing a hat?"
Jarvis seemed to realize that something was wrong and he tightened the brim of his hat.
"How did you find my base? What do you want to do to me?" Valerie raised her head and asked formally.
"No! Alice! This is not a topic to talk about at the tea party." Jarvis clapped his hands. Although he didn't know what was going on, he had to subdue his beloved woman first.
But the animal friends sitting on both sides of the table did not stand up as Jarvis expected. They sat there without moving.
"Okay." Valerie sighed. She shouldn't have given up hope of talking to a madman.
No one in Gotham wears prosthetics, so why are there so many crazy people...
Valerie raised her hands and clapped her hands in the same rhythm as the electromagnetic waves in the hat according to her understanding.
Then, the animal friends on both sides of the table stood up at the same time and looked at Jarvis.
NO13. Hypnosis
Just as Valerie had thought, Jervis's hypnosis was mediated by sound.
The high-tech device in the hat will continuously emit an electromagnetic wave signal, which is close to the wave rate of the human brain. As long as people hear sounds with the same rhythm as the electromagnetic waves, the electromagnetic waves can be synchronized with the wave rate of the human brain, thereby achieving a hypnotic effect.
Having said that, if the hypnotized person moves away from the signal source in the hat, the hypnotic effect will naturally weaken. The rabbit mask is like an antenna that can receive signals remotely and even enhance the effect.
Generally speaking, one needs to listen to the sound for a while to be hypnotized, but the reason why Jarvis was hypnotized instantly was because he kept the signal source on his head, and Valerie only needed to get close to him to do it.
"What are you going to do..." Jarvis looked panicked when he saw his animal friends approaching him.
Valerie had the strong men lift Jervis and snatch his hat off.
"I'll ask you again, how did you find my base?" Valerie picked up the pocket watch on the table and stared into Jarvis' panicked eyes.
Listening to the ticking sound of the pocket watch, Jarvis' eyes quickly became dazed and he fell into a hypnotic state.
"Drink tea, tea can solve all problems..."
"what?"
What incomprehensible things is this guy saying.
The Mad Hatter smiled kindly: "Your friends."
Valerie understood that, besides Malone, the only person who knew about her base was the agent who sold it to her.
Malone didn't look like he had been hurt. It looked like he was betrayed by the real estate agent - or was forced to betray himself.
"How do you know his relationship with me?" Valerie narrowed her eyes.
"He told me, he happened to be drinking tea here!" The Mad Hatter smiled happily.
Valerie reacted and looked at her animal friends.
One of them took off his mask. He was an old Mediterranean man, obviously the real estate agent. Valerie remembered not having seen him for more than a week.
This old man is the Penguin's subordinate and knows almost all the best properties for fugitive hiding places in Gotham, but the rent is a bit expensive.
It was Malone who used his connections to introduce this old man to Valerie. At that time, Valerie had not yet become enemies with the Penguin.
Valerie finally understood.
They were now standing in a secret warehouse in the backyard of a hat shop in Coventry. The warehouse was very secretive, and if Valerie hadn't been following the two hypnotized thugs, she would have hardly been able to find it.
A place like this, which is very suitable for murder, robbery, and smuggling and hiding, is obviously closely related to this old man.
The Mad Hatter may have obtained such a property through this old man.
Later, perhaps because he had no money to pay the rent, or perhaps he was just plain crazy, the Mad Hatter hypnotized the old man and made him his animal friend.
Considering that Valerie hadn't seen the old man for a week, this must have happened within this week.
And then there were the events of the past few days… maybe the day before yesterday, when Valerie passed by this hat shop, she was spotted by the Mad Hatter, and coincidentally, the old man who was already working for the Mad Hatter knew her.
Valerie took a deep breath. Before she met the Clayface a week ago, she felt that this world was no different from her previous life and she could walk sideways.
But her experiences over the past few days have made her aware of the threat. This Mad Hatter is not powerful, but if he keeps hiding in the dark, he can be a very dangerous enemy.
If this guy didn't come out to find her, who knows how long he would hide here?
What’s even more terrifying is, how many dangerous people like this are hiding in Gotham?
Valerie asked the Mediterranean to put her mask back on before asking the Mad Hatter her next question: "What are you going to do to me?"
"We will be together forever! Alice!" The Mad Hatter seemed to be imagining a wonderful life in the future. "I love you. Before you find a way to leave Wonderland, we will have tea parties together every day!"
"Leave Wonderland?" Valerie felt it was so troublesome to talk to this guy, as his words were full of nouns she had imagined.
"He will kill you." A familiar voice suddenly sounded from behind, scaring Valerie.
Valerie looked back and saw the familiar big black bat.
"It's you... When will you pay?" Valerie asked the question she was most concerned about.
"Not a problem, quick." Batman skipped the topic, "I recently found several clues of human trafficking inside Gotham. This man is one of the major suppliers of human trafficking. He sold a large number of underage girls to and from Gotham."
Valerie looked at Jarvis with disdain when he was mentioned. At this time, he was still immersed in the ticking sound of his pocket watch.
"If the girl he kidnapped is lucky, she will be sold as I said."
“Is this called good luck?”
"The unlucky ones will be imprisoned by him, and tortured and killed when he gets tired of them, to satisfy his perverted fantasies." Batman hid his feelings, "You seem to be very popular with him."
"It's so...disgusting..." Valerie's eyes became even colder.
"Okay, V, leave him to me and I'll hand him over to the police." Batman said to Valerie.
Valerie said nothing, she clapped her hands in her hat at the burly man carrying the Mad Hatter.
The sturdy man carried Jarvis and slowly walked to Valerie.
"Okay, put this guy down, and then we'll collect evidence and report..." Batman looked around relaxedly, but suddenly froze.
"Pfft!"
Valerie extended her mantis blade and pierced the Mad Hatter's chest.
The pain woke the Mad Hatter up. He looked up at Valerie blankly, with blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.
"Alice..."
The mantis knife pierced his heart, leaving the Mad Hatter with no chance of survival. He died on the spot before he could even finish his last words.
"What are you doing!" Batman's tone turned cold.
"Self-defense." Valerie pulled out the knife and shook off the blood. "He is a disgusting human trafficker and he wanted to kill me."
"You have no right to..."
"I have the right! I said, it was self-defense." Valerie turned around and glared at Batman, "What do you want to do? Put him in jail? This guy is dangerous and disgusting, and there is no way he will repent."
"The law will..." Batman stopped talking midway and sighed as if giving up, "Next time, I will definitely stop you."
"Admit it, you were happy to see this guy get stabbed to death." Valerie rolled her eyes and passed by Batman.
"But seeing you kill people doesn't make me happy." Batman shook his head.
"You'd better take care of your Gotham. There's a guy named Riddler who has gathered a group of terrorists to cause trouble." Valerie walked out of the room without looking back.
