Chapter 7: Maid of Wuyou Palace (I)

The next day, Lin Shangzhou got up early, had breakfast, and drove to Wuyou Palace to do his work.

After parking the car in front of Wuyou Palace, Lin Shangzhou got out. The maid who received him yesterday morning was also waiting for him here today.

"Good morning, Mr. Fritz."

"Good morning, Ms. Elena."

Lin Shangzhou greeted her. He learned Elena's name from Cecilia yesterday.

"Are you waiting here just for me?"

Looking at Elena standing in front of him, Lin Shangzhou asked, and Elena nodded and said:

"Yes, Her Majesty got up early today in order to listen to your story, and is now waiting in the office for you to come over and tell her the story."

There was a hint of helplessness in Elena's words. When Lin Shangzhou heard that the German Emperor had gotten up early just to listen to his story, he felt honored and had the same idea as Elena: His Majesty the Emperor is no different from a child.

Although she is no longer considered a child.

"Then let's go there now."

Led by Elena, Lin Shangzhou came to the German Emperor's office.

"Good morning, your Majesty."

When Lin Shangzhou arrived at the office, the first person he saw was Alexandrine, who was sitting behind the desk flipping through a thick book. He also greeted her loudly.

"Good morning, Lady Cecilia."

After greeting the Kaiser, Lin Shangzhou greeted Cecilia who was drinking tea nearby. Cecilia just glanced at Lin Shangzhou and said calmly, "Fritts, good morning."

Then I ignored him.

(Um... is she angry?)

Cecilia's cold attitude made Lin Shangzhou think so.

"Fritts, you're here! Come and sit down. I'm waiting for you to tell me the rest of the story. What happened to that village of unknown sick people?"

Compared to the somewhat cold Cecilia, Alexandrine came out from behind the desk with great interest, sat next to Cecilia and asked Lin Shangzhou to sit down.

"I will tell you the rest of the story."

Lin Shangzhou sat on the sofa and began to tell Alexandrine the story of the nameless man's arrival in the sick village.

While he was telling the story, Elena poured him a cup of tea and brought him a plate of snacks, then stood quietly by.

Half an hour later an old woman pushed the door and walked in.

"Eleni, it's time to study."

The old woman with an angry face came in and spoke to the German Emperor. From what she said, she was the German Emperor's teacher, and the expression on her face showed that she was very angry. The old woman's appearance reminded Lin Shangzhou of his junior high school teacher, who was also an elderly lady, but younger than this one. This kind of lady can be very scary when she gets angry, so Lin Shangzhou shut his mouth tactfully.

The German Emperor wanted to say something, but the old woman glared at her. She then pouted, stood up obediently and walked to the old woman.

The old woman looked at Lin Shangzhou on the sofa with a scrutinizing eye. After looking him up and down for a few times, a little disgust appeared in her eyes. She asked, "Are you Follanden's nephew?"

"Yes ma'am, my name is Fritz Hipper."

Lin Shangzhou stood up and said to the old woman. He could see the disgust in the old woman's eyes. He was very confused. He had no grudge against her and it was just their first meeting. Why did she look at him like that?

"Don't tell Alexandrine those weird stories in the future. Your uncle likes to tell them to her. I didn't expect that you like to tell them to her too. Humph!"

After hearing what the old woman said, Lin Shangzhou's doubts disappeared. He thought that his uncle hated him because he told the German emperor stories that had nothing to do with learning. Okay, this fits the old woman's image very well.

The old woman said to Lin Shangzhou very dissatisfiedly, and then she took Alexandrine's hand and walked out the door.

"Come on, it's time to study, Eleni."

(Eleni?)

Lin Shangzhou was somewhat confused by the way the old woman addressed the German Emperor, but he did not pay much attention to it. It should be the way the old woman addressed the German Emperor.

After the old lady and the Kaiser walked away, Lin Shangzhou asked Cecilia, "Is that lady the Emperor's teacher?"

"Ah."

Cecilia nodded.

"Her name is Valdina, and she is my sister's teacher. Teacher Valdina is a very knowledgeable university professor. She is also very stubborn and very strict with my sister. She doesn't like the stories your uncle and you tell my sister. Your uncle is okay, and the teacher respects him because of Uncle For's experience, but it's not necessarily the case for you."

"So from now on, as long as Teacher Valdina is around, I suggest you don't mention those stories and novels."

"Thank you for the reminder, I will pay attention."

Lin Shangzhou kept Cecilia's advice in mind and thanked her.

Now that the German Emperor had gone to study, there was no need for him to stay in the office any longer. He stood up and prepared to return to his lounge. The German Emperor probably would not go out again this morning, but he did not plan to go home and wait in the lounge in case there was something else to do.

Cecilia called to him as he was getting up.

"Why are you standing up?"

"His Majesty the Emperor has gone to study, so I..."

Lin Shangzhou was about to say "There's no need to stay here" when he saw Cecilia's eyes. He instantly understood why Cecilia called him.

The Kaiser went to study, but Cecilia was still there. He could tell Cecilia the rest of the story, and Cecilia looked like she wanted to continue listening.

Lin Shangzhou quickly changed his words and said:

"I'm going to the bathroom. I'll tell you the rest of the story when I come back."

Cecilia smiled and nodded.

Lin Shangzhou walked out of the room and asked the maid where the toilet was, then went to the toilet. Although going to the toilet was just a temporary change of mind, there was nothing wrong with going there.

After using the toilet, he returned to the Kaiser's office. When he approached the office, he did not see Cecilia. Only Elena was left in the room, tidying up the tea sets. This surprised him. Didn't you say you wanted to hear the rest of the story? Where did that person go?

"Elena, where is Lady Cecilia?"

Lin Shangzhou asked Elena who was standing beside him. Elena handed Lin Shangzhou the cup of tea and said, "Lady Cecilia had something urgent to do so she left. She asked me to tell you that the Emperor probably has no plans to travel today. You can go home if you want to, or you can stay in Wuyou Palace if you want to."

Lin Shangzhou drank the tea in the cup and returned the cup to Elena. He was surprised and felt it was outrageous that his work for the day was over before it even began.

"I suggest you stay, because I think His Majesty the Emperor will be happy to hear your stories after he finishes his studies."

Elena made this suggestion to Lin Shangzhou, and Lin Shangzhou thought about it briefly and decided to do as Elena said.

"Well, I'll just stay."

Seeing that Lin Shangzhou wanted to stay, Elena was very happy. Then she said to Lin Shangzhou, "Mr. Forlanden would help us maids with some things every time. We refused at first, but he said that he felt it was not good to work so easily with such a high salary. Besides, there was only one male in the whole Worry-Free Palace, the driver, except for the bored guards at the door. Although we have many maids, many of them are girls. Some heavy work requires several people to complete together. So in the end we agreed to Mr. Forlanden's request. If His Majesty the Emperor has no plans to go out one day, he will help us with some heavy work."

"Of course, I'm not saying that you must help us. I just thought of this matter."

Elena squinted her eyes and looked at Lin Shangzhou. Lin Shangzhou was no fool. Although she didn't mention him at all, she kept saying: You should help us with the work.

Elena said that her uncle often helped them with work, so how could he not help?

If he doesn't help, wouldn't that be bringing shame to his uncle?

So Lin Shangzhou curled his lips and said: "Even though you said that, I think it's better to help you, otherwise the work will be too easy."

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

Seeing that Lin Shangzhou agreed to help the maid share the work, Elena immediately became happy.

"You come with me."

"Ah."

Lin Shangzhou followed Elena, who was pushing a cart, out of the office and walked with her along the corridor on the side of the Worry-Free Palace.

He was somewhat speechless, but other than that he didn't have any other emotions. He wasn't going to get angry over such a small matter, and there was no harm in building a good relationship with the maids in Wuyou Palace.

After following Elena into the kitchen, Lin Shangzhou met a maid working in the kitchen. He remembered this maid, the one who brought him afternoon tea yesterday.

"Noah, Mr. Fritz said he wants to help us with the work. Aren't you responsible for cleaning the mill today? Let him come with you."

The maid named Noah looked up at Elena and Lin Shangzhou, thought for a moment and nodded. Then she stopped the work in her hands, wiped her hands with a towel, walked to Lin Shangzhou, lifted the hem of her skirt with her hand, and greeted him elegantly.

"Hello, Mr. Fritz, my name is Noah."

"Hello."

Looking at the maid's graceful movements, Lin Shangzhou was very impressed.

"Then I'll go and do my work. Noah, you can take Mr. Fritz to the mill later."

Elena left after saying this. After Elena left, Noah's attitude changed a little. She circled around Lin Shangzhou curiously, observing him carefully while turning around.

"Well...don't we still have to work? When are we going to the mill?"

"Don't worry about that. We'll go there after I finish my work in the kitchen."

Noah stopped circling and walked to the sink to continue his work while speaking.

Lin Shangzhou also followed, stood beside Noah, picked up a rag and washed the dishes in the pool.

Nuoya wiped the dishes with both hands and turned to look at Lin Shangzhou's face. After looking at it for a few seconds, he asked curiously:

"Is Mr. Fritz Chinese like Uncle Fol?"

(grass)

The question from the maid beside him made Lin Shangzhou feel dizzy. The question was so important that he did not answer it immediately.

Lin Shangzhou wiped the unnecessary sweat from his forehead with his hand, then nodded.

Noah shut her mouth after asking this question. She also realized that the question she asked was too stupid. Fritz is the nephew of Forlanden. Uncle Forlanden is Chinese, so the Fritz in front of her is naturally Chinese too.

Because there was one more person to help, the two of them finished the work in the kitchen in a few minutes. After finishing the work here, Noah wiped his hands with a towel and said to Lin Shangzhou: "Let's go, Mr. Fritz, I'll take you to the mill."

"Ah."

Lin Shangzhou shook his hands to get rid of the water stains and followed Noah out of the kitchen.

Arriving at the garden outside the palace, Noah pointed in the direction of the windmill and said to Lin Shangzhou, "Mr. Fritz, we are going there."

Looking in the direction of Noah's finger, Lin Shangzhou did not see any windmill. He guessed that the windmill should be farther away.

The two were walking on a small path in Wuyou Palace. As they were walking, Noya suddenly walked quickly to the front, turned around and walked backwards. Lin Shangzhou looked at her curiously. Was this girl walking like this to talk to him?

"Mr. Fritz, how old are you?"

Noah asked curiously.

The maid's question made Lin Shangzhou think for a moment. He was 20 years old before he traveled through time, so he should also be 20 years old here, so...

"Age? Should be... twenty?"

When talking about his age, Lin Shangzhou hesitated for a moment before saying it, and his tone was still uncertain.

His behavior made Noah laugh.

"Haha, you don't even know your own age? Never mind, just assume you're twenty."

Lin Shangzhou scratched his head awkwardly.

"Anyway, I'm definitely older than you. I'm only 17 years old."

"17 years old..."

Lin Shangzhou nodded slightly, and then Noah approached Lin Shangzhou and said, "Mr. Fritz, can I just call you Fritz?"

"Of course, I'll just call you Noah then."

Lin Shangzhou nodded readily. It was obvious that Noah did this to bring the two of them closer. Although it was just the first time they met, how could a cute maid have any bad intentions?

"Fritts, let's go, the mill is still some way to go."

Noah turned around happily and walked forward quickly. Lin Shangzhou walked a few steps behind her and then quickly walked to Noah's side, walking side by side with her.

After walking for a while, the two of them walked out from the side door of Wuyou Palace. The trees beside the road had long been bare. If they were not bare, this would be a tree-lined path. Lin Shangzhou could hear a few birds singing from time to time. Looking up, he could see birds perched on the branches. As he walked longer and longer, he gradually heard the sound of a windmill turning in front of him.

After a while, the two came to the mill.

Lin Shangzhou stood under the mill and looked up at the big windmill above. He had never seen this kind of mill or this type of windmill before, but he had seen power-generating windmills.
