"It is the evil god of the bottomless pit." Lius answered immediately: "Most of the suffering in the world comes from that evil place.

“They regard distorting order as common sense and destroying beauty as joy. Most of the evil in the world comes from there, and most of the suffering arises from this.

"If you can come to the Pantheon and admire the glory of the true God, you will surely be able to embark on a smooth path full of joy."

Rogers was quite surprised by the notes in this mission. This was the first time he saw the gods willing to directly grant him the power to fight his enemies, although the triggering conditions made him want to complain that they were too childish.

Even during the freshman competition, the bottomless pit only granted complete immunity to damage from the corrupted attribute.

Judging from their description, the gods' intervention in the world is also extremely limited. It is not known whether it is because their current strength is too weak, or because the rules of the world's curtain are too strong.

According to this statement, the god of destiny who originally watched over me should also have its limits in interfering with the development of worldly affairs, and I cannot do whatever I want.

And the title of that god has never appeared in the game text...

So does this "destiny" refer to gods or something else? Although this mission seems more like a whim of the gods of the bottomless pit, there seems to be too much hidden content to be explored.

Rogers pondered for a moment. Anyway, the mission had no time limit and was not mandatory, so he could think about it later. Right now he had to deal with the prince who looked like he had been brainwashed.

"Your Highness, I am the only pure-blooded heir of the Breed family, and I am also engaged to Miss Elina. Once I enter the Pantheon, I will have to let her down and destroy her reputation."

He explained earnestly with a wry smile on his face, no longer wanting to continue talking to the other party.

"Engagement?" Lius frowned slightly and glanced at Elena, then asked curiously, "I specifically inquired about your deeds in Saint Herta. The one you really like should be the Saint, right?

"Wasn't it a legitimate reason to get rid of the Devin family after entering the Pantheon? You are brave enough to sacrifice your life for the Saint, so why are you hesitant even for such a small decision?

"Also, when I was cleaning out the cultists, I found that most of them were secret societies that believed in the Abyss. They were definitely chasing you not only because of the Saint, but they also probably had plans for your talents.

"The Pantheon is different from Saint Herta, who is only responsible for teaching you magic knowledge. We can also provide you with enough protection so that you will not be afraid of the threat from the bottomless pit."

If this prince was a little smarter, he wouldn't be so stupid...

The most important point is that this is the only pure-blooded heir of the Brad family. Rogers wanted to point it out directly, but he was afraid that the prince would think he was humiliating his intelligence.

Moreover, due to the large number of beliefs in the Pantheon, the number of political factions is even more complicated than that in the empire.

Although the number of gods enshrined in the Pantheon is not exactly "ten thousand", there are indeed quite a lot of them. There are even many gods from the Abyss of Disorder and the Land of No Sleep who behave in a friendly or indifferent manner towards people.

It can be said that except for the Bottomless Pit, the Pantheon all believe in it to some extent, which makes it appear to be powerful, but disputes are also quite frequent.

Perhaps only Lius would truly believe Lius so-called promise of asylum. After all, it was a big problem for him to decide which faction or factions to accept asylum from. He might even be easily involved in some inexplicable struggles in the process.

As if he had seen through Rogers's refusal, Lius slowly withdrew his hand and stopped inviting him. He tilted his ear as if listening to something, and after a moment, he said to Rogers with a serious face:

"I just learned that the purpose of many underground societies coming to the East Territory is to hold a ceremony called the Birth of the Son of God. The specific content is still unclear.

"But the East Territory will inevitably face an unknown storm in the future. I hope you can think about it carefully and make the right decision."

After he finished speaking, he stood up, opened the door, and jumped out regardless of the speed of the carriage. It was unclear what he was in a hurry to deal with.

"The Nativity of the Son of God?" Rogers reached out to close the car door. When he heard the name of the ceremony, he suddenly had a bad feeling.

If I think about it carefully, it seems that there are only a few days left until my birthday in this life.

Those guys wouldn't...

"I think this prince is stupid."

Elina interrupted Rogers's gradually diverging thoughts with a cold voice. She clenched her fists and had no expression on her face. If it were not for etiquette, she would have wanted to directly retort to Lius's previous remarks, especially the part about the engagement.

"I thought so at first, but as he spoke, I began to feel sorry for him," Rogers replied with a smile.

It is obvious that he has never received any education on interpersonal communication, which is unimaginable for a prince.

Moreover, the Pantheon probably did not give this prince enough worldly knowledge, which allowed him to behave like a "greenhorn" who offended everyone around him as soon as he appeared on the scene.

However, this kind of guy who can't even see what kind of experience he has endured can be called happy to some extent.

"He came to invite you to join the Pantheon, perhaps because he was instigated by someone. If you really join the Pantheon, both the Pantheon and the royal family will be very happy." The disgust in Elina's words did not diminish. She paused slightly while stroking Lufia's head, and then asked a question:

"How did you find the second prince?"

When Rogers heard the question, he felt confused at first. No matter whether it was the holiday time for the first grade of St. Herte or the long escort team of the Brad family, nothing was concealed.

That group of cultists were able to follow him, so would it be a problem to find the Second Prince?

But then, his eyes sank slightly, and he thought that the timing of the Second Prince's visit was too good, and it happened to be the moment when the cultists were gathering more and more and the other party could show up to lend a helping hand.

If Rogers didn't know that those cultists were not out to plot against him, and the Second Prince suddenly appeared from nowhere to eliminate the crisis in his panic, that would definitely increase his initial favorability.

It was only the second prince's overly simple character that caused the subsequent bad impression.

Either the Second Prince and a group of priests had been keeping an eye on his convoy and were waiting for the right moment to take action; or there were some annoying guys in the convoy who were tipping off others.

In short, it is unlikely to be a coincidence.

Although there were guards arranged by Prince Reuel and Earl Devin, the overall planning was still left to the Brad family.

Because Devin has always been a supporter of Breed, and Prince Reuel knows "Rogers' true face" and has certain exchanges of interests with him.

Finally, Rogers inexplicably recalled the plot in the prologue of the game. Alice was able to sneak into the Earl's Mansion when Countess Breed and Countess Devin were out hunting, and even found Rogers' residence.

This was too unreasonable. He initially thought that Alice might have received support from someone, such as Vice Principal Avery, who would be willing to help and allow Alice to do such an outrageous thing.

But during his studies at St. Herte, he felt that although Vice Principal Avery was very kind to Alice, he did not seem like the kind of person who would interfere in such matters.

If this is the case, how could Alice, in the academy line, break into the Earl's Mansion without encountering a decisive blockade with the help of several newly awakened special effects?

Ever since he was injured by Kevin due to the negligence of his retainer knight, according to his father's character, he must have cleaned the Earl's Mansion thoroughly, but now it seems that the cleaning is still not thorough enough...

"After we get home, I may have to ask you to keep me busy for a while." Rogers raised his hand and pinched the Jingming acupoint, saying helplessly.

Before the holiday, he was still thinking that he should come back to enjoy the luxurious life as a lord, but the successive troubles made him feel that he might not have much time left to enjoy it.

……

The night slowly fell, the sky was blocked by clouds, and only the sparse moonlight could penetrate the clouds, shining on the snow, and dyeing the whole world with a layer of glory.

The snow on the ground reflected the moonlight, emitting sparkling light, as if stars had fallen to the earth, helping people see.

The magnificent gate of the Earl's Mansion was open, ready to welcome its young master.

Earl Braid was wearing a dark coat, his hands folded on a cane, staring intently at the dark road in the distance.

Snowflakes fell on his head, lingering on his black coat, gradually melting into water droplets, assimilating with his expectations.

Countess of Breed was wearing a gorgeous cashmere shawl and holding an exquisite snowflake-patterned scarf in her hand. She gently used it to brush away the snow on her and Count Breed's sleeves, and from time to time she would look in the direction where her children were returning.

Count and Countess Devin and Prince and Princess Reuid were also standing at the door, waiting together.

Several knights held flickering torches in their hands, lighting up the wide area in front of the palace. They stood quietly, their shadows stretching long on the snow in the night.

In the distance, the sound of horse hooves could be heard. These distinguished imperial figures all perked up at the same time. They exchanged glances, as if they were tacitly celebrating the return of their child.

After Rogers jumped off the carriage, he was still some distance away from the Earl's Mansion. Hans stood in front of him, helping him smooth out the wrinkles on his clothes and putting a wide-brimmed hat with feathers on it on him.

After preparing himself decently enough, he walked towards his home.

Every step he took on the snow made a slight rustling sound. The cold wind whistled, disturbing his thick head. The cold air blew towards his face, forcing him to hold down his hat with his hands.

The feathers on the hat are like leaping elves, sometimes dancing gracefully, sometimes bowing their heads, as if saluting the wind and snow.

Elina and Lufia stayed close to Rogers and walked towards their parents.

……

"All the anguish about death is like a fierce whip to the strong, stimulating the power of survival to be more active."

This is a sentence written by Romain Rolland in "Christophe".

When I first wrote the story about the protagonist recalling his past life and facing a terrible situation, this sentence appeared in my mind.

Later, when I saw many people’s comments about the protagonist’s experience in the first chapter, I often thought of the above sentence.

“Everything is a celebration of life, even sadness is a celebration.”

The emotional changes of the protagonist in the book "Christophe", the changes when he had to face death because of the death of his beloved, have always been fresh in my memory.

So many people asked why the hero didn't take the world with him to be buried? Why did he go to find Alice?

I have never given a direct answer. I think it would be fine if we give up on this book just because of the protagonist's choice.

The memory of foresight, the guaranteed bonus of [Time Travel Special], the protection of the retainer knight (although it is useless), and most importantly, the desire to live long.

There are too many reasons to say.

Because of the prophet's advantage, there are too many solutions available.

So at first I didn’t understand why someone would become aggressive and absolutely deny and speak ill of me and the entire book when I didn’t write that the hero took the world with him.

After I hadn't paid special attention to the comments on the original plot for a long time, a disciplinary committee member later told me that he had gradually deleted more than a dozen malicious comments caused by the male protagonist's decision.

My confusion about this became even deeper, and then I couldn't help but associate it with more things that are related to our real life.

It’s just that it’s not convenient to discuss this topic in detail, so let’s leave it here.

Next is the style and content of this book.

You should be able to clearly notice that my book has the shadow of many works, whether it is magical popular literature such as "Harry Potter", or Japanese comics such as RE0, JOJO...

There are so many works that have influenced me that I am not going to list them all.

What I want to talk about most is Mr. Tolkien. Although there are not many traces of "The Lord of the Rings" in my books, this work has the most profound influence on my creation.

Especially the character Boromir in "The Lord of the Rings". When he first appeared in the movie, he made people feel like a bad guy who was easily attracted to the ring, opposed Aragorn, and did not like to share power.

Then he showed his behavior of being tempted by the ring, which deepened the impression that he must be a greedy guy.

But in the subsequent developments, Boromir gradually revealed his inner self, and people discovered that he was not attracted to the ring because of his poor willpower, but because he was too eager to save his country.

In the end, he fought to the death to protect the ring, and his figure that remained standing despite being shot by several arrows made people feel that he could be called a hero.

Looking back at his performance when he first appeared, his selfish attraction to the Ring was for the selflessness of the people of Gondor; his hostility towards Aragorn was due to his concern for whether Aragorn could shoulder the hope and future of the people of Gondor.

This man did not change from bad to good, he remained the same from beginning to end, he was always the hero of Gondor.

What has changed is only our perspective.

Later, when I read various book reviewers' interpretations of "The Lord of the Rings", I was even more shocked by the power of Tolkien's writing in creating characters.

This is the first time I intuitively felt that characters and perspectives could have such a strong charm.

So when I saw everyone in the book review section posting a wide variety of divergent comments on which camp or personality the hero belonged to, I felt indescribably happy, as if I had finally touched the threshold of Mr. Tolkien's character creation technique.

Finally, I had a wonderful experience when writing this book. I often felt that the characters I wrote would suddenly "lose control" and do things that I could not expect.

What impressed me most was the conflict between Rogers and Elina during the first magic circle class.

At the time, I just wanted to write about the development of their emotions and the transition that allowed Rogers to open up a little.
