Volume 5: Summary of Volume 5
Let me first talk about the update issues that readers may be concerned about.
I have been very busy recently, traveling to many places to attend various meetings, and writing boring reports. My manuscript revision speed has been forced to become a snail's pace...
The author has no way to deal with this kind of force majeure, but it can be estimated that after the colleges and universities start classes one after another, there will be less time, and normal updates are expected to resume in mid-September or late September (about 2/3 of the free chapters have been modified, and the rest will be processed after this busy period).
……
This revision of the previous article really gave me a lot of emotion.
I don't understand why this book was signed at that time.
I had briefly glanced over the previous article before, and was left with a vague impression that it was "very bad", but when I started to revise it again, I realized how bad it was. I revised it chapter by chapter, and I was so angry with myself that I became frustrated and embarrassed that I became mentally confused.
According to the universal law that looking back at the present is just like looking at the past, my future self will most likely point fingers at my present self and make comments about him. It is a helpless cycle.
Speaking of this, I should actually say something good about the person I used to be with.
Well, although my writing is poor, I am making progress after all.
Don't worry that the changes will change the plot line. No, I am confident that I can control this. The main changes are the following undesirable factors:
Logic is confusing, embarrassing, description is long-winded, unclear, and abrupt
In short, I am now very, very, very grateful to the book friends who have been reading since the beginning. Even though the writing was obviously very poor before, there were still people who posted some comments and cast votes or something. The author got through the period when he was most disappointed with himself because of these book friends.
Let's talk about the fifth volume. The author thinks that this is the best volume he has written so far, but the next volume should be better. The "better" here refers to my own judgment criteria. Sometimes the judgment criteria of readers and authors are different.
I don't know if you have discovered something "special" in this book. The author's original intention was to break out of the circle of golden fingers/brainless cool novels and write a work that is alternative in a sense (this was also the passion for writing for the first time). Now, I am probably on the road, and what I need next is continuous practice and growth.
I hope that one day I can write something that truly satisfies me.
Thanks to all the readers who have read here.

Volume VI: Chapter 1 Academic Papers
On September 1096, 9 in the Terran calendar, White Wolf once again began her journey to Longmen.
This time, she went there as an upright Ursus noble. Thinking of the last time she went to Longmen, she always had a strange sense of reincarnation.
More than a year ago, she disguised herself as the Ursus noble Olicia and went to Longmen under the pretext of discussing business.
More than a year later, she went to Longmen again. Now she was Olisia, and she went to Longmen to discuss business.
By now, the company's factory has been completed and the employees have become proficient in this kind of production work. When she set out, the company's warehouse was already full of various models of the first generation of 'Ice Stone Energy Cores'. Everything was ready, waiting for the day to launch it to the world.
In Bai Lang's suitcase on this trip was a laptop computer, which stored a large amount of important information. In addition to the necessary information for external cooperation, it also included presentation materials for the press conference.
This kind of electronic presentation material is similar to computer PPT, but it is much higher-end. Thanks to the high technological level of the Terra continent, the content of the material can be projected in three dimensions in the air with the help of tools, thereby describing the company's products in a more comprehensive and convenient way.
It is worth mentioning that in the presentation document, Bingshi Mining used the concept of "energy level index". The calculation logic of this concept is very simple. It refers to the energy provided by mobile energy divided by the volume occupied by the energy body. The higher the energy level index, the more energy the mobile energy can provide under the same volume.
This concept was thought up by Bai Lang when she was thinking about how to prove the superiority of her own product. Her idea was to give ordinary people an easy-to-understand measurement standard so that they can compare it themselves and find out how much superior the "Ice Stone Energy Core" is than traditional chemical energy power sources.
There is another advantage of doing this. That is, when the company launches the next generation of products, it can directly describe on the 'PPT' how much percentage the current generation of products has improved compared to the previous generation, and how much percentage it has surpassed the chemical energy of competitors. Accurate numerical descriptions can always bring better psychological impact.
In order to allow more people to recognize this standard, the calculation method of the energy level index was proposed to the academic community as early as a month ago - when the institute was writing the relevant paper.
According to the tradition of Terra's academic community, important research results need to be reported to the academic community. Of course, for companies, such reports only need to describe a simple framework model without providing confidential content.
In the short free time after completing the research work, the enthusiastic Miss White Wolf participated in an academic paper entitled "Secondary Inert Source Energy Recycling Plan" and personally wrote the scientific research ethics part in source energy research and industrial model.
This paper mainly explains the utilization ideas of inert energy sources (i.e., source stones with extremely low purity or waste source stones) in theory, attaches simple successful cases, and proposes the concept of "energy level index" in the article to facilitate the comparison of inert energy sources and chemical energy at different levels.
After receiving the manuscript, Bai Lang felt that the simple term "energy level index" was not a big deal at all, and the scientific research ethics section was dispensable in the entire article, so he did not plan to sign as a co-author.
However, the researchers disagreed. They were particularly concerned about the issue of academic attitude and unanimously requested that the proposer of the "energy level index" be clearly stated. They also insisted on writing Olicia's name in the co-author column.
They said that in academia, as long as one contributes to the output of a research, no matter how, one has the right to be named as the author. Olivia was the leader of the entire research and the original planner, so it would be unacceptable for her not to be named.
Miss Ina even said on the spot that if Miss Olicia didn't write her name, she wouldn't write it either.
Bai Lang was not disgusted by these things, but it was very strange for the name of the noble Olisia to appear on them, and it might bring other troubles. So, she thought of a compromise and took up an identity she had used many years ago - Farina.
If the identity certificate prepared for her by the Cast Iron City Office is still there, it seems reasonable, after all, Miss Farina is a graduate of the Thermodynamics Department of the Cast Iron City Polytechnic University.
No one had any objection to Bai Lang's new name. Just like some artists would choose stage names, people in the academic world would often use names different from their real names when publishing papers, such as Mr. Blood-Ms. Huafalin.
Finally, the paper is signed by co-authors (in no particular order): Eyjafjalla, Aina, Farina, Ceylon, and Tianhuo, and the publishing institution is the Icestone Energy Research Institute.
Perhaps thanks to Miss Eyjafjalla's reputation, the paper was processed quickly and was published in the Journal of the Royal Victorian Institute, the Special Issue of Leithanya Energy Research, and the Journal of Columbia University seven days later.
As for how big a response it caused, White Wolf had no idea. Their Ice Stone Mining Company was far away in the northernmost part of Ursus, and sometimes they were not very well informed. The only thing that was certain was that Ice Stone Mining Company suddenly could no longer purchase free low-purity raw ores. It was as if the mining waste that was originally everywhere was cleaned up overnight.
Of course, after starting to accumulate more than four months in advance, the Ice Stone Mine, which has almost exhausted the entire northern mining area of Ursus, no longer needs to purchase from the outside world.
Thinking of this, Bailang looked back at his companions with great emotion. Tianhuo, who was at the back, was concentrating on looking at his mobile phone, Aina was leaning on Aiyafala and taking a nap, and Miss Aiyafala also looked drowsy and seemed to be about to fall asleep.
This time, Miss Ceylon did not come. She had recently been concentrating on organizing her research materials on the history of Originium from her university days and preparing to write a booklet, so she took the initiative to take on the task of staying behind.
Aina went along for the task of being the host, because White Wolf decided to hold the press conference in Longmen. The economic vitality of this city is immeasurable, and it has unparalleled exposure in Terra. Therefore, White Wolf planned not only to find a second host, but also to hold the press conference directly.
This was not something out of the ordinary. Considering that she had some connections in Longmen, Bai Lang felt that this should not be difficult to accomplish.
Miss Eyjafjalla is purely a colleague. She needs to go to Rhodes Island for regular treatment every once in a while, and this time she also went to Rhodes Island.
When the research had just been completed and the factory had not yet started construction, Eyjafjalla returned to Rhodes Island once, and at Kal'tsit's request, she brought some of the latest inhibitors to White Wolf.
But for White Wolf, the effect of the new inhibitor was the same as the previous one and was not noticeable at all. White Wolf himself found it quite strange.
Ever since the battle with Neiwei, the Originium crystals in her body seemed to be frozen, and no longer showed any signs of expansion. Although she had been drinking inhibitors regularly, it seemed that there was no difference between drinking them and not drinking them.
At the same time, she could feel that her Originium skills were becoming more powerful at an extremely fast rate. This situation made her panic at first, because there are usually only two ways to make Originium skills stronger: training, and worsening of the Ore Disease.
Her mineralogy showed no signs of getting worse, and her body never felt any painful burden.
She struggled for a long time before finally realizing that the inhibitor should always be effective, and that she was probably too lucky to the point of not knowing how lucky she was.
Volume 6: Chapter 2 Return to Dragon Gate
The aircraft successfully landed at Longmen's floating port. Bailang woke up Aina and Eyjafjalla who were sleeping soundly together, and called Tianhuo, and walked out of the cabin together.
Among the four people, Tianhuo and Aina both came to Longmen for the first time, but their performances were very different.
Miss Tianhuo still behaved maturely and steadily, as calmly as if she had come to a city she had visited countless times.
Miss Ina was different. She looked around happily, like a little girl who had just arrived in a big city, even though Londinium, where she had lived before, was also a first-class metropolis.
Tianhuo couldn't bear to see his sister being so ignorant, so he coughed and reminded her, "Aina, is it worth being so happy? Outsiders will laugh at you."
"Sister Tianhuo, this is the city of Yan Nation!"
"What happened to Yanguo City?"
"It's Yan Country, Yan Country!"
"Is Yan Country special?"
"I like Yan Country so much. One of my teachers is from Yan Country."
"As I recall, there are no instructors from the Yan nationality at Yuanneng College, right? Or, what courses did you choose to take?"
"It's my middle school teacher. I learned a lot from him."
"What did you learn?"
"Oh, Sister Tianhuo, don't ask anymore. Anyway, it's something useful."
White Wolf couldn't help but smile when she heard the two sisters chatting in the back. She turned around and continued to talk to Eyjafjalla: "Ms. Eyjafjalla, remember to say hello to Ms. Kal'tsit for me. Tell her that I will not be going to Rhodes Island this time."
"Okay." Eyjafjalla nodded first, then asked in confusion. "Why?"
"You can ask Kal'tsit, she will definitely understand."
"Oh." Ayafara responded blankly.
Seeing the other party's expression, White Wolf burst out laughing. "Let me tell you. Kal'tsit will definitely not explain it to you clearly, and will probably ask you to come back and ask me. Eyjafjalla, do you remember that Ms. Kal'tsit asked you to come to the company in your personal capacity?"
"Well... it's like this, I never really understood it."
"You can understand it this way. Ms. Kal'tsit has some sensitive relations with the Ursus officials, so it is not convenient for them to contact directly in public. And I am coming to Longmen openly this time, so I can only avoid contact with Rhodes Island as much as possible."
"Okay, I get it now."
"That's good to know." White Wolf looked around and saw that no one was paying attention, so he stuck close to Eyjafjalla and whispered in her ear, "Remember to keep what I said secret."
Miss Ayafara clenched her right hand and nodded vigorously: "Well, I won't tell anyone."
After this simple episode, Miss White Wolf continued to walk on the streets of Longmen, her vision gradually losing focus as she reentered her own spiritual world.
She realized that she didn't fully understand herself and that many of the things she did were strange.
She found that when facing Miss Eyjafjalla, it was easy for her to let down her guard and easily reveal some important secrets, which were not even known by Aina, Tianhuo and others. It would be fine if she said that she was very familiar with Eyjafjalla, but the fact was that the actual contact time between her and Eyjafjalla was far less than that of Aina and others.
Did she trust Eyjafjalla more? No, she trusted Aina and Tianhuo equally. She had even disclosed her identity as an infected person to Aina and others a long time ago.
This matter may sound insignificant, but what if we put the premise of Ursus's noble status into consideration? Is the information that Aina and others have really a simple one?
Where is your logic for action and judgment? What prompted you to make the corresponding decision?
She is a person with a strong spirit of inquiry and always likes to push the problems she finds to the extreme. After a very brain-burning and careful consideration, she tentatively draws an empirical conclusion.
Many of her actions are indeed unfounded, as she often seems to act on her 'feelings'.
This conclusion made Miss White Wolf very unhappy, and she wanted to refuse to admit it from the bottom of her heart. As a self-proclaimed materialist and rationalist, she believed that something as illusory as "feeling" was not reliable.
Not only is it unreliable, this almost metaphysical thing is simply not worth mentioning.
Logic and rationality are closer to the truth; the sixth sense and the theory of sensibility are all heresy!
If we stop thinking about the problem here and start praising one and criticizing the other, then Miss White Wolf can no longer be called Miss White Wolf.
She was an extremely contradictory person, so contradictory that she loved to refute her own conclusions and find convincing evidence of being a villain. Just like now, when she realized that the balance of her thoughts had tilted, her soul that helped the strong and the weak awakened, and she began to try to find the rationality of the law of "feeling".
To describe it in professional terms, Miss White Wolf's thinking pattern contains a lot of elements of "using my own spear to pierce my shield" or "the opposite is the movement of Tao". Some people may think that this kind of thinking is purely looking for trouble, or even close to "internal friction", but Miss White Wolf doesn't care. She likes to think about these interesting things, likes it to the point of going crazy. She is a philosopher disciple who is not normal at heart.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Miss Ayafara. It turned out that the long-distance taxi she was waiting for had arrived and was going directly to Rhodes Island.
Bai Lang came to his senses and said goodbye to Eyjafjalla, then took Aina Tianhuo to the nearest Dagu Hotel. This time, Bai Lang booked a business suite with a conference table, intending to make it a temporary base for the company.
She did not assign any tasks directly, but gave Aina and Tianhuo two days off, allowing the two to travel around the city freely. Miss Aina immediately jumped up happily, while Miss Tianhuo was reserved for a moment and said that she could be contacted at any time if there was anything.
Before leaving, Bai Lang kindly reminded the two sisters not to come back too late at night, and said that there were gangs in Longmen. This scared the two sisters a lot, after all, they had both experienced the shadow of gangs on the airship.
Bai Lang took great pains to explain that the gangs in Longmen were different from those in other places. After Aina and the others left, she muttered to herself: I wonder how they would feel if they knew that the company had to cooperate with the gangs.
She poured herself a glass of water and sat alone in the conference room to sort out her plans.
There are so many things I need to do, including arranging the venue for the press conference, selecting the host, planning possible business cooperation, negotiating with Longmen officials, and meeting with Mr. Lin...
It was not until the sun was setting that White Wolf finally sorted out all the tasks and wrote them all down in his notebook.
She raised her head, looked at the gorgeous orange-red sunset, stretched lazily, and then knocked her smooth chin on the table, looking as if she had lost all hope in life.
She didn't want to move at all. Everything was her first time. She had no experience to follow and no one taught her what to do.
Ah, it's so difficult~
A voice came to my mind: White Wolf, you can do it!
It's okay.
How can you feel comfortable just lying down after working so hard?
Volume 6: Chapter 3: Territorial Awareness
noon the next day.
The top floor of a silver-gray skyscraper in the core area of Longmen.
Lin Yuxia sat bored in front of the huge French window, looking down at the bustling crowd below. She felt sleepy and couldn't help yawning.
"Miss, there is a letter for you." A waiter came over and bowed three meters away.
"give it to me."
