The fragrance drifted far away with the wind.

"We can only take these things for a picnic near Longmen. In the wilderness we can only drink potato soup." The Angel of Power filled a bowl, took a sip, and then sighed.

"I totally agree with this." White Wolf also served himself a bowl.

Preparing such meat-containing delicacies in the wilderness will attract wild beasts.

Book 2: Chapters 10 & 11 The Land of Ursus

Everyone spent the first pleasant night chatting around the campfire.

At night, as agreed, the two Lupers guarded the first half of the night, while Angel and Croissant went to the car to sleep first.

The space in the off-road vehicle is spacious. Just press a switch and the seats can be folded flat to form a simple bed.

In the wild, such conditions can actually be considered luxurious, but neither of the two people in the car had any intention of sleeping.

Exia covered the halo on her head with her coat and stared quietly outside through the glass. Croissant and she lay side by side, moving in unison.

"Angel of Exorcism, it's not nice of you to eavesdrop on other people's conversations!"

"How dare you say that? I see you're also curious about Texas' past."

"I watched the croissant for Miss Kong. It was not for my own selfish reasons at all."

"Tsk." Exia was very disdainful.

The two of them stared intently at the figure by the campfire, but they were destined to be disappointed.

The two Ruperts were silent to each other, neither of them spoke.

In fact, White Wolf was also very anxious. She wanted to say something to Texas, but every time she was about to open her mouth, she saw the other party's cold face. Her heart felt like being poured with cold water, and she shrank back.

This cycle repeats itself and time is wasted.

Poor people in the off-road vehicle, they sacrificed their precious sleep time and watched the two silent Rupers for a long time, which made them exhausted and extremely disappointed.

Finally, the Angel decided to give up. She pulled the coat that was obscuring her halo down to cover her entire head, and prepared to go to sleep dejectedly.

But things took a turn for the better at this juncture.

"I'm coming!"

Croissant beside her whispered excitedly and nudged her shoulder with his elbow.

The Archangel lifted up his clothes, rekindled his fighting spirit, and looked outside intently.

The two Rupers were indeed saying something, but what was infuriating was that they both lowered their voices, probably because they didn't want others to hear.

But these are not important. Angel believes that with his understanding of Texas, he can guess the general situation just by looking at the expression.

"I heard that the road to Ursus is not safe." White Wolf said seriously, "I think we need to talk about emergency combat. My Originium skill is to use fire to strengthen weapons and melt armor."

"I'm usually responsible for acting as a pioneer and providing range strikes," Texas replied.

"Area strike? Can a sword be used to perform an area strike?"

"Well, my swordsmanship is quite special."

"Any tips?"

"I haven't studied it deliberately. It's a method close to instinct."

"I'm better at single combat. If you act as the vanguard, I can take the opportunity to deal with the enemy's difficult units. By the way, where are the Angels?"

"Exiac will be responsible for sniper support, and Croissant will be responsible for protection."

This combination is quite perfect, White Wolf thought.

She then started discussing swordsmanship with him. Although Texas claimed that his swordsmanship was completely random, they both had quite a bit of experience and had a lot to talk about.

In the SUV, Croissant turned around and continued to wait for Exia's explanation.

Miss Angel did not disappoint her and said excitedly: "The two people gradually walked out of the serious conversation, and the scene became lively. They should have gotten rid of the heavy past.

"Look! Texas took the initiative to draw her sword and slashed the air in front of her. Although this looks like a demonstration of swordsmanship, Croissant, we must see the essence through the phenomenon."

"That's right, Croissant, I understand it too! They are breaking with the past!"

Angel was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect Croissant to have such profound insights. It was really thought-provoking. So she coughed lightly and said, "Yes, Croissant, what you said is exactly what I thought."

After seeing the scenes they wanted to see, Exia and Croissant no longer forced themselves to stay up late, and soon fell asleep with satisfaction.

If they had been awake, they would have been surprised to find that the two Lupers who were on guard had "broken up" with the past dozens of times.

……

White Wolf didn't quite remember how she got back to the car last night. When she woke up, it was already dawn. Angelica and Croissant were preparing vegetable soup outside, and Texas was cutting some branches for firewood.

She jumped out of the car and went to help Angelica peel the round potatoes. The sun slowly climbed out from the horizon behind her.

After eating and drinking, everyone continued on their way.

After arriving at the outer edge of the Ursus border, the road conditions began to become rugged and bumpy everywhere. At this time, the advantages of off-road vehicles began to be reflected.

The off-road vehicle with high chassis and strong traction rushes forward unhindered like a galloping horse, and the people in the car are tossed forward and backward like the rider, and this is the result of N-level shock absorption.

The daytime journey thus became a torture, and at night people were too tired to speak. Everyone began to look forward to crossing the border of Ursus as soon as possible.

On the fourth day after arriving at the border zone, an unexpected guest visited.

It was a local mountain villager who happened to pass by on the way back from hunting and came to watch out of curiosity.

The two sides exchanged supplies through barter. The hunters were simple and cheerful, showing the greatest friendliness and finally waved goodbye and left.

At midnight that night, they were attacked by a group of bandits who wanted more than just to rob them of their money. This was a premeditated attack, but unfortunately the night watchmen at the time were White Wolf and Texas.

The surprise attack turned into a calm rout, and the enemy was 'surrounded' by the smaller party at the very beginning, and paid the price for their actions.

Two days later, they finally crossed the border mountains and officially entered the territory of Ursus.

As the sky darkened, everyone stopped and settled in. Miss White Wolf opened the car door, hesitated for a moment, then stood up and stepped onto the land where destiny led her.

……

One morning many years later, the Swordbearer stood behind the White Wolf holding a comb and asked with a smile, "My dear Grand Duke Hilde, what did you see when you first came to Ursus?"

"I've told you so many times not to call me that." Miss White Wolf argued with a red face, and then fell into deep thought. Her memory drifted back to the past, and she murmured, "I saw... the birch forest swaying, the distant mountains humming in the wind, and the sun was about to set..."

Volume 2: Reflections on the launch & Monthly Summary for April

A few days ago, the editor suddenly contacted me and said that the book would be put on the shelves on Friday. To me, this was more of a shock than a surprise.

After all, Shuke has its own system, and there is little relationship between listing and the quality of the work.

It’s quite interesting to think about it. It’s been quite some time since I first started writing in March. The previous article did have a dark history (and perhaps the current one too). Although I wrote it very seriously, I couldn’t even pass the contract. Later, I became more open-minded and no longer cared about these things, and I have been able to get to where I am now smoothly.

I am convinced that due to my shortcomings in writing and limitations of my personal style, I probably cannot write articles that will be liked by the general public. However, the niche style is also good and suitable for a lazy person like me. If some people like it, the author will be very happy.

The editor suggested that I write this thank-you note and ask for votes and subscriptions, but with my updating speed, I really can't bring myself to ask for it, nor can I make any promises against my will. After all, my writing speed is at the bottom of the food chain.

Once you speed up, you will inevitably have to learn the skills of hydrology.

But writing is such an interesting thing, if you get too excited, you will forget the original intention.

So I can only do this: go home every day, read other people's books for an hour, and write my own articles for two hours.

Of course, any writer hopes to get everyone's support, and the author is no exception.

Alas! People always struggle with this and that, twisting their minds into a knot. I won’t talk about my feelings anymore, but let’s talk about the summary of April.

April was quite busy, but I still felt a lot of writing problems.

A very important point is that the characters' dialogues are stiff. This problem is particularly prominent in the early plot of Rhine's life. If someone pays attention, they will find that the amount of dialogue in some parts of the later text has increased significantly. This is a deliberate practice to address the problem.

The second point is the issue of perspective conversion. There were signs that the God's perspective was abused in my writing in March, so I later tried to use a restrictive third-person writing method. The non-omniscient perspective centered on a certain character in the article is such an attempt. I don’t know how effective it will be yet, after all, I have written too little and lack experience.

Other issues have either not been discovered yet or are relatively unimportant, so they are not listed here.

However, I still urge everyone to point out problems. For example, if you intuitively feel that some part of the writing is uncomfortable, this is actually very serious!

Let’s stop here, otherwise it will exceed a thousand words again QAQ.

Thank you all again, thank you to every book friend who has written silently or left a footprint, you give me the motivation to keep writing!

2021.8.21: Well, it was really a surprise that what I wrote at that time could be put on the shelves ( ̄ω ̄;).

Important reminder to readers (September 2022)!!!

I happened to look back at the previous article and found it so poorly written that I couldn't stand it, so I made a simple revision. It was extremely troublesome to change the content for subsequent publication, so I had to stop here.

I would like to inform all readers that from the next chapter onwards, the manuscript will switch to the author's novice period, and there will be major flaws in many places. What the author can guarantee is that each subsequent volume will be a continuous improvement, and if you make a comparison, the later content will be much better than what you have seen now (the revised first volume).

Volume 2: Chapter 12: Infected Hunting Team

Although they had entered Ursus, the dangerous border area was uninhabited. It was not until two days later that they saw a small inhabited village.

Texas adjusted their direction and headed towards where the smoke was rising. Soon, they arrived at a small village, but found something strange.

Every household in the village had its wooden doors closed, and the passage between the two rows of houses was empty.

"What the hell!" Croissant complained as he jumped out of the car. All signs here showed that this was a normal inhabited village. The current situation could only be caused by the villagers deliberately.

White Wolf also opened the car door and looked around.

There was a half-painted graffiti by a child under the eaves on the left. There was water that had just been drawn from the well at the back. Its owner hastily put down the wooden bucket and disappeared.

"Hi~"

White Wolf turned around and saw Archangel Angel walk to the window and wave to the peeping child, and then a pair of big hands pulled the child away from the window.

I don't know why, but the people here seem quite...unfriendly.

At this time, a cough was heard, and at the corner of the village, an old Ursus man with white hair and beard walked towards the crowd with a faded cane.

The old man was followed by a few young men, all of whom were looking nervously at the SUV parked in the center of the village, with fear written all over their faces.

"Dear guests, the people in this village are ignorant. I am the village chief here. I apologize for them. May I ask if you are from the city?"

"That's about it. We're on our way to Chernobyl and we wanted to exchange some supplies when we passed by here, but..." White Wolf said halfway and looked at the other party in confusion.

The village chief smiled bitterly and said, "Your car scared the villagers. They thought it was the search team again."

"Search party?"

"You don't know? Oh, you are not from Ursus!" said the village chief in surprise.

"Actually, we came from Longmen."

"Longmen is great!" The village chief sighed, and continued, "The search team is a military organization that specializes in capturing infected people. Once caught, they will be sent directly to the Originium mining area."

Bailang had heard of the Originium mine in Ursus. It was said that once you went there, you could never come back. But she didn't expect that the labor force in the mine was captured in this way.

"But the people in the village shouldn't be infected, so why are they so afraid of the search team?" Croissant came over and asked.

The young man from Ursus next to him showed an indignant expression and couldn't help but interrupt:

"Those guys aren't just looking for infected people."

The village chief grabbed the excited young man and told him to notify everyone to come out, then explained to White Wolf and the others:

"Every time the search team came, they would forcibly search every household. Nothing could withstand their search methods. Later, everyone gradually understood that as long as they prepared money in advance, the military masters would be more lenient. Sometimes they would just take the money and leave.

"Later, every time they came over, everyone hid in the house, and I just had to prepare things and negotiate."

"Isn't this the Longmen Gang?" Angel muttered, stroking his chin. "That's not right. Although the gang will forcibly collect protection fees, they will not capture the infected people in the mining area."

After the villagers learned that the visitors were not from the patrol team, they gradually became active. A group of children, probably seeing a locomotive up close for the first time, had their eyes shining with excitement.

Suddenly, White Wolf seemed to see a red shadow flash by. She turned around suddenly and saw a child hiding in the corner, looking over here curiously.

Was it because I was dazzled? But why did this child hide? She wondered.

The village chief suddenly interrupted her thoughts. The old Ursus man was so angry that his beard trembled, and he sternly shouted: "Kana, go back!"

The girl uttered a "hmm" and disappeared as if she had been electrocuted. The village chief smiled at the white wolf and said, "That's my granddaughter Kana. She caught a cold these days and can't come out anytime. You see, she just won't listen."

How could a lively girl from an Ursus village become so weak because of a cold? If it happened to a rich lady, it might be possible, but there must be something else going on in this situation.
