The last time she rushed directly into the rift and was assimilated by the star core. She turned around and fought with Beloberg, mainly using a self-destructive truck.

But this time Ron had made preparations early on, and now he was capable of fighting Cocolia without losing... and even being assimilated by the star core.

If Cocolia really wanted to rush into the Rift again, Ron could easily stop her and hang her in the barracks and spank her.

Anyway, according to Ron's current combat power as the top master of the Silver Mane Iron Guard, it would be very easy for him to control Cocolia without being discovered...

With this expectation in mind, Ron watched the words on the screen begin to change:

[The Great Guardian arrived at the military camp, and the Iron Guards lined up to greet him, showing great respect to Cocolia.]

[Cocolia asked the Iron Guards to line up in the parade grounds. She wanted to give a speech for this great victory.]

A new scene appeared on the light screen:

Cocolia was standing on the carefully constructed viewing platform on the parade grounds. Below the platform were the iron guards lined up in neat rows. The mighty army spread out on the parade grounds like a dense forest of steel.

The general stood in front of the viewing platform and saluted Cocolia solemnly.

The Iron Guards saluted in unison, like waves surging on a calm sea.

"You did a great job in defending Beloberg."

Kokolia smiled, and with encouragement and determination in her tone, she affirmed the achievements of the Iron Guards:

"We have annihilated the world-shattering creatures, recovered the former Beloberg business district, and consolidated our defenses... This is the first successful counterattack against the world-shattering since the first year of the city-building era!"

Her tone was passionate, but a cold look flashed across her purple eyes as she changed the subject.

"However, even victory is a thing of the past. We cannot dwell on past glory, but must look forward to a new future."

She grabbed the City Builder badge on her chest and tore it off, then raised it and shouted:

"The decision to counterattack the Rift is the right one. A bright future is beckoning us!"

"We can not only take back the original commercial district, but also the suburbs and more... The Rift Creation is just a defeated opponent, and Beloberg will usher in a brighter future!"

"The children of Beloberg will finally be able to sing freely in the wider world!"

Faced with the bright future outlined in Cocolia's words, the Iron Guards were completely excited.

[Cocolia gave the Iron Guards all kinds of useless instructions on their work, praised their bravery in vain, and then issued several military orders in succession.]

[She asked the garrison officer Jeppard to lead the troops back to the front immediately and not delay the battle in the rear.]

[Order all your Iron Guards to disrupt their organization and insert themselves into the front-line troops, and temporarily recruit a few new soldiers to the logistics area to guard the armory.]

[The Iron Guards, overwhelmed by victory and fantasy, obediently accepted the military order and began to prepare in an orderly manner, ready to rush to the front line at any time.]

[1. Accept Kokolia's military order.]

【2. Refute Kokolia's military order.】

Looking at the words appearing on the screen, Bronya was a little conflicted for a moment.

If it was her before, she would have obeyed Cocolia's orders without hesitation, but now after a simulation...

She looked at the Iron Guards on the light screen who had lost their minds due to Cocolia's instigation, and finally made up her mind and chose option number two.

Don't let victory go to your head, think twice before doing anything - this is what my mother once taught me.

Although Bronya didn't know why Cocolia became so impulsive now, she didn't want to watch her mother in the simulation continue to make mistakes.

The Silver Mane Iron Guards are the foundation for Beloberg's survival and the bottom line for the fire of civilization to shine in the wind and snow.

Although this battle to defend the city was a great victory, it was not without cost.

In Bronya's panoramic view, the Iron Guards who had become Destiny Walkers in the logistics area could no longer form four full teams.

In this battle to defend the city, they suffered a 40% casualty rate, and finally, with Ron's surprise attack, they broke the offensive of the World-Splitting Creatures.

Afterwards, the army from the front returned and encircled the rear, killing all the endless stream of world-ripping creatures and turning them into smoke and dust.

Although the front-line army was in much better condition than in the last simulation, there were still some casualties.

Marching into the Rift might not necessarily recover old territory, but it would definitely cause the Iron Guards to suffer even greater losses.

Being able to recapture the commercial district is a feat that has never been accomplished since the first year of the city-building era. It is better to use the remaining time to repair the commercial district, build a new iron guard defense line, and recuperate for a while...

With this thought in mind, Bronya watched new text pop up on the screen:

[You refuted Kokolia's order in front of the army.]

[You explained your thoughts in an orderly manner and analyzed why it is better to rest and recuperate at this time rather than forcefully advance.]

[After hearing your words, the Iron Guards became agitated and began to discuss among themselves, but were stopped by Garrison Officer Jeppard.]

[Cocolia angrily scolds you for not being enterprising and having no blood. ]

[She refuted your policy as a fallacy that would affect the morale of the army, and she was very disappointed with you.]

[You were very flustered by your mother's scolding. You turned around to look at the generals and the Iron Guards, and found that everyone had different expressions on their faces, but no one spoke for you. The only response to you was silence.]

[You begin to doubt whether you are really unambitious and stupid enough to be beyond cure.]

[Cocolia is very disappointed with you and whispers to you to go back and rest, and not to lose face for Klipperburg in such an important occasion.]

[You are ready to leave the training ground in despair, but someone blocks your way.]

[Your guard Ron disobeyed orders and left the Iron Guard formation and walked in front of you.]

Chapter 11 - Bronya's First Exception

The snow keeps falling.

The cold wind wrapped around Bronya, as chilling as everyone's gazes.

Heavy snow fell on Bronya's body, mixed with Cocolia's rebuke and the iron guards' gazes, the heavy pressure made her breathless.

Bronya has all the good qualities that a great guardian should have, but she lacks confidence.

Cocolia's control over her penetrated into every aspect of her life, gradually trapping her in a cage of her own making.

Bronya had done her best to refute her mother's orders in front of the Iron Guard and explain her opinions in an orderly manner.

But the wind and snow were cold and merciless, and Cocolia's words and the Iron Guard's gaze were even better than the wind and snow——

Not only did her mother scoff at her opinion, but no one in the entire Iron Guard army spoke up for her and no one supported her idea.

I really can't become a qualified Great Guardian...

Bronya wrapped her coat tightly around her body, and her originally proud grey eyes dimmed, like a pool of stagnant water, without any spirit.

She turned around and walked out of the training ground, but she felt her legs go weak, her head dizzy, and she was about to fall to the ground.

She was still just a teenager after all.

She couldn't bear the pressure.

"Are you ok?"

A steady voice came from behind her, and Bronya felt herself falling into a cold embrace, the steel armor hurting her—

But she felt that this embrace was so warm, and her pride completely collapsed the moment she collapsed on Ron.

Bronya's proud and cold mask was torn off, revealing the weakness unique to a girl.

The mother's lack of understanding, the confusion about the future, the shame of being rejected...all the pressure flowed out from those silver-grey eyes along with the heavy tears.

But Bronya stubbornly buried her face in the shadows, turned her back to everyone, and just let her tears flow quietly.

"Don't cry, Bronya...Stand still. You are not the one who should leave here today."

Ron's gentle voice came, but Bronya just said stubbornly with a trembling voice:

"I didn't cry."

She lowered her voice and sobbed for a while, then said slowly:

"...It's just that the snow melted and flowed down my hair."

"The Great Guardian protects Beloberg, and the Great Guardian has no tears."

"But the Great Guardian is not an automatic robot, and the fluid flowing through his body is not machine oil."

Ron described the facts in a calm tone: "Whether it's snow or tears...the feelings you stubbornly want to abandon are, in my opinion, an indispensable part of you."

"I am your guard, Bronya. I will be your protector until you remove me from my position."

"Would you like to see Belloborg mutilated and crying?"

Bronya was silent for a moment and slowly shook her head.

"So, I don't want to either."

Ron helped Bronya up and helped her sit on the armory box nearby.

He settled Bronya down, carefully put on the City Builder Badge that Bronya had given him, and turned to walk towards the training ground which was in some chaos because he had left the formation in defiance of military orders.

Amid the astonished and confused gazes of the crowd, he walked up to the viewing stand with firm steps.

"Cocolia, have you ever been to the market in Belloborg? Do you know how much a bottle of Roger Bread Flavored Soda costs now?"

"How dare you--?! Konoe, give him to me..."

Cocolia's face was gloomy. Just as she was about to hold Ron accountable, she was interrupted by Ron's loud voice.

He held up five fingers:

"A full 5200 credits! 5200 credits. This number can only be stored in those ancient personal terminals!"

The guards who originally wanted to pull Ron down from the viewing platform slowly slowed down their pace.

Ron's words were deafening, causing everyone to wake up from their illusions and move their eyes to reality - to the 3200 credit points red sausage, 5200 credit points soda, and 500 credit points instant food.

Compared to those fantasies, this is their life.

Ron was silent for a moment, then his voice rang out again, but only a faint sigh could be heard in it:

"I thought that the biggest enemy of this Beloberg was the endless cold wave."

"But after relying on the earth's marrow to survive the cold wave, I discovered that the Rift was eroding the city. The familiar world turned into an illusory bubble, and the Rift became a concern for Beloberg again."

"I led the troops to repel the Rift Army, dispel the Rift's erosion, and reclaim the Beloberg business district. It should have been a complete victory, but the Silver Mane Guards still had to fight a bloody battle."

"I now understand more and more that the trouble that Belloberg is worried about is not outside, but inside Belloberg, inside Klipperburg!"

Ron said, pointing his finger at Cocolia——

"On the Great Guardian Cocolia!"

"As long as the Great Guardian's decree is a little bad, our Beloberg will be a mess."

"If the Great Guardian's decrees are all corrupted, then Beloberg will fall into the snowstorm, and we will all die without a burial place!"

"Think about it! It's only been a few years since Grand Guardian Shirley died in the old armory? Have you forgotten everything?"

"That old armory is still watching you from under the cliff on the outskirts of the city!"

The image on the light screen faded.

Two reminder notes popped up in front of Bronya:

[Your guard Ron has comforted you, your stress level has been reduced, and your favorability towards Ron has been greatly improved.]

[Now, your favorability towards Ron is -82]

Then, the two paragraphs faded away, and a new plot note appeared:

[Your guard Ron refuted all military orders from Cocolia Rand.]

[In his mouth, Kokolia's military orders disregarded human life, just like the whispers in a dream.]
