"Your face is so red, you must have a fever! And you're still trying to guide people like that. Not only will you be ill, but you're probably going to be disoriented from the fever and lead people the wrong way!"
"This is not good. You guys stop her. I'll go find Uncle Sun and ask him to check Lan Qiao's body."
So a bunch of senior brothers and sisters surrounded Lan Qiao to ask about his well-being.
Lan Qiao was afraid that he would be late in showing the way to the Great Demon King, so he covered his stomach with one hand, grabbed the corner of An Yanxia's clothes with the other, and ran, saying uncomfortably: "The Zhizhen Palace is just ahead!"
An Yanxia looked at Lan Qiao's flushed face again, and saw only two thin streams of urine on her legs. She joked, "Even though it's said to be peeing, I'm afraid it's not good for you to pee outside the hall where all the True Ones are discussing the Dao!"
This little girl was like a primary school student holding back their urine in class because they were afraid of the teacher's authority. It would have been fine if An Yanxia hadn't said anything, but once she did, it started to trickle down.
Lan Qiao went to find the toilet with a mournful face, and hid in the toilet, crying, "God damned Penglai Immortal! An Yanxia was struck by lightning! Wuwuwu, go to your mother, go to your father."
She came out of the toilet crying, and suddenly a celestial fairy on duty at the Zongsheng Palace descended from the sky.
It turns out that except for the heavenly palace in Daluo Heaven, many of the minor gods and immortals who ascended from other heavens are unemployed vagrants. Some of these immortals are worshipped by palaces, temples and shrines on earth, and work as guardians, patrolmen and other minor gods in the temples.
The fairy nodded and wrote it down in a notebook, saying, "Yes, I broke the precepts. According to the thirty-seven precepts, you must not speak nonsense or curse. Who is your master? Go and face the wall for half a day."
Lan Qiao burst into tears, "Wuwuwu~~"

....................
Seeing Xiaolanqiao in trouble, An Yanxia laughed heartlessly and walked towards the Zhizhen Palace.
I was surprised to find that despite the "discussion of Taoism" taking place in this hall, it was remarkably quiet. The monks invited from Famen Temple were all on the left, with Monk Daoxin at the head. The Taoists and immortals from Zongsheng Palace were all on the right, with Qi Huizi at the head. In the center was a diagram of the Later Heaven Bagua, containing the Tai Chi diagram, with Yin on top and Yang below, forming the "Earth and Heaven in Harmony" formation.
Monk Daoxin spoke calmly at first, "Master Qihui has cultivated for decades, achieving enlightenment, as if seeing the moon shining brightly above the Eight Waters. I, a younger disciple, have made little progress, and I am grateful for your kindness in bringing me to the Supreme Purple Palace and honored to meet you. I hope you will teach me the Dao."
Qi Huizi smiled and said, "There are Buddhist and Taoist studies, and there are Zen and immortal cultivation. Although they are different paths to the same destination, there are also many differences. I do not practice Zen, do not cultivate immortality, do not practice alchemy, and do not ascend to heaven to receive the ordination certificate. I only learn the word Tao.
"Of the three religions, only the Dao is supreme. It does not pay homage to the Emperor, nor does it greet the common people. It avoids the cage of the mortal world and hides itself, transcending the web of worldly affairs to cultivate the true self. Fortunately, I have been blessed by heaven and earth. Using the Dao to govern the law, I have obtained an immortal body, returned to my position of great awakening, harmonized the dragon and the tiger, and am now ranked among the immortals.
"But back then, like all the other Daoists, I yearned for the profound spirit of the ancient sages and the return to simplicity of the accomplished. I longed to be cast out of the fire pit and walk in a cool and refreshing place; to be free from worldly cares and dwell in a land of freedom. But the Dao is difficult to enter and find, like ascending to heaven, and one must be familiar with the principles of virtue and the Book of Changes. It requires both inaction and action, and within inaction, there is nothing left to do. My mind was in a quiet room, and when I realized something, I turned back quickly, with a fierce determination, and cut through it with a single stroke, truly drawing blood. Fortunately, I finally achieved the state of cultivating the truth and embracing simplicity.
"As the saying goes: To shed the mortal body and transform into a Dharma body, one must use a sword as sharp as iron."
Dao Xin said, "I am different. I studied medicine since childhood and later entered Buddhism. It is difficult to obtain a human body, difficult to be born in the Central Plains, and difficult to encounter the true Dharma. To have all three is the greatest blessing."
"We have been able to obtain human bodies, be born in the Central Plains, learn the Mahayana Dharma, enter the Buddhist sect, and remain as ascetics forever. We can be said to have been born with profound merit and possess all three. We Buddhists also talk about the word 'nothingness', which is simply the existence of nothingness and inaction. However, this is very different from the Dharma of the True Man."
Then Daoxin shut his mouth and looked at the monk Sengye of the Sanlun School beside him, and Sengye looked at the monk Tanyin.
This monk, Tanyin, was a disciple of the eminent Sui Dynasty monk Huiyuan, renowned for his eloquence in debate. Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, once threatened to destroy Buddhism and ordered all eminent monks to return to secular life. The monks were too cowardly to speak out, but Huiyuan, alone, staunchly opposed the idea in court and debated with the emperor, earning him the title "Dragon among Monks" in Buddhist circles.
Tan Yin inherited his master's eloquence and was nicknamed "Little Monk Dragon".
He said, "What we all learn is nothing more than the word 'emptiness'. There are also those who are profound, who have perfected the four symbols, comprehended the three elements, purified the six thieves, and detached themselves from the mundane world. They have realized the Bodhi in the void, which is neither dirty nor clean, neither born nor destroyed, without coming or going, without credit or debt, encompassing emptiness and color, and sending away both the saints and the ordinary. They are free from worries about life and death, free from the three disasters and calamities, and are forever in the Western Pure Land, enjoying infinite life and blessings.
"It is precisely: neither defiled nor pure, exercising the six supernatural powers and being at ease; neither born nor destroyed, transcending the three realms and achieving solitary perfection. The green water flows on, allowing the scum to rise and fall; the green mountain remains motionless, allowing the clouds to come and go.
"How can one cultivate such a Dharma? It is precisely the awakening within awakening, the enlightenment within enlightenment, a single spiritual light that protects everything. Release the blazing flame to illuminate the Saha world, and the vastness of the Dharma Realm will be revealed! To learn the great awakening, one must gradually enter, and only with fate and determination can enlightenment be achieved. Actions and deeds are all wrong, and talking about dragons and tigers is pointless. There are thousands of side paths that confuse the world, and misguided practitioners embark on a thorny path!"
As soon as Monk Tanyin finished speaking, he saw the Taoist priests and immortals from the Zongsheng Palace frowning.
What a sharp-tongued little monk! His words simply disparaged all paths other than Buddhism! He simply said they were side paths on a thorny path.
Qi Huizi had a faint smile on his face and didn't say anything.
Next to him was the Miaoying Zhenren Sun Simiao, who also smiled without saying a word.
But the Taoist priest beside Sun Simiao murmured in dissatisfaction, "Master Sun, this Famen Temple lost once and won once in the last two rounds. This time, I'm afraid they want to crush us all in one fell swoop! I'm going to have a debate with this little monk Long."
Before Sun Simiao could speak, Qi Huizi said, "Sit down first. Are you losing your temper?"
The Taoist priest felt dry in his mouth and twisted his thighs before sitting back down.
Qi Huizi looked at the monks and smiled, "As expected, Little Monk Long and the Buddhist sect are two far behind. They are really not giving in in their verbal battles. Master Daoxin has Little Monk Long under his command, but we also have a Fulongke here."
When the monks were puzzled, Monk Daoxin suddenly smiled and cast his eyes towards one of the Taoists who were listening to the sutra.
Immediately, Dao Xin looked at Qi Huizi and asked knowingly, "May I ask your name?"
Qi Huizi twirled his beard.
"It is none other than the Master of Zhongnan Cave Heaven, the Evildoer of Changxia, the Supreme Immortal, and the Leader of the Six Dragons."
Journey to the West by the Supreme Immortal: Chapter 319 [It turns out Yanxia was just showing off]
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was in an uproar.
On the Famen Temple side, Monk Sengye and Monk Tanyin looked puzzled, while Monk Fashun and Monk Daming frowned.
A monk wondered, "Why did the Zongsheng Palace invite four people at once? Four people to deal with Tanyin alone. Isn't this a bit unfair?"
Monk Daming looked at Fashun secretly and whispered, "You once told me that this Supreme Immortal is nothing more than a Pratyekabuddha from another sect, an unenlightened Arhat. But who are the remaining three, the Master of Zhongnan Cave Heaven, the Evildoer of Changxia, and the Leader of the Six Dragons?"
At this time, Monk Daoxin was listening to the discussion of the four eminent monks and was speechless. "You are mistaken. These four names are all the same person. It is none other than Cangzhou Immortal An Yanxia."
Fashun said, "She practices meditation and forgetfulness, and also practices the Dao of Alchemy. The Dao of Meditation is similar to emptiness and tranquility; and the Dao of Alchemy involves the profound principles of Buddhism. She led Fa Rong astray before, and I didn't expect her to be in this sacred palace."
Monk Daming frowned and said, "I'm afraid this official will ruin my foundation of great enlightenment. I'll go meet her."
After hearing this, Tan Yin thought to himself that he had indeed underestimated the world's cultivators. He had never thought there was such a person. Then he became competitive and interrupted the conversation, saying, "Master Daming! Let me do this! I want to see if this Fu Long Ke has the ability to subdue dragons!"
After saying this, he didn't wait for Monk Daming to finish his words before shouting, "Excuse me, who is Master An Yanxia?"
An Yanxia was listening to the heavenly book among the immortals - she originally thought that she could hear some wonderful principles of cultivation and plagiarize some knowledge reserves of these great monks and immortals, but she didn't expect that she would be bored after listening for a while, and she felt sleepy!
Qi Huizi inexplicably called out her name, pulling her back from Zhou Gong. Then Monk Tan Yin shouted at her, calling her name, and awakened her soul.
She asked confusedly, "Who's calling me?"
Tan Yin shouted, "I'm calling you!"
An Yanxia asked blankly, "Who are you?"
Tan Yin was not angry at the humiliation. He looked at her and smiled, "I am Long Tan Yin, a young monk from Jingying Temple. You don't even know my name. If you were defeated by Zongsheng Palace, wouldn't you be confused?"
"What do you want me to do?"
The monks laughed.
Seeing this, the Taoist priests from Zongsheng Palace were puzzled. An elder was just saying, "How does this person look like someone well-read?"
Some Taoists, seeing An Yanxia's humiliation, could not help but cover their faces in embarrassment. Another Taoist complained to Sun Simiao: "How capable is this Supreme Immortal recommended by the Sect Leader?"
Seeing An Yanxia's bewildered expression, Sun Simiao wondered, "Isn't this Cangzhou Immortal a man of martial virtue who uses killing to stop killing? Why was he dragged into this debate by his senior brother?"
He was also hesitant.
But at this time, Qi Huizi smiled and said, "Master! I am asking you to discuss the issue between Zongsheng Palace and Famen Temple for me."
"We, the Buddhists and Taoists of the world, will debate seven rounds. Previously, my Zongsheng Palace won one and lost one. Now, if we want to win back, we have to rely on the Immortal. As a reward, if my Xuanmen wins, I will hand over the grand prize of the Buddhist-Taoist debate to the Immortal. How about it?"
The grand prize in Buddhist-Daoist debates is the Celestial Master's Talisman, the holder of which can establish a new sect. Alternatively, it can be sent to the Zhengyi ancestral temple at Mount Longhu, where it is received with the utmost respect and a Xuantan (or Xuantan) is erected for the deliverer, offering eternal worship. Therefore, it is coveted by all Taoist sects worldwide. Many Taoists and immortals present also came to witness the Celestial Master's Talisman's appearance.
When they heard that Qi Huizi had handed over such a treasure, both the monks and Taoists were stunned.
An Yanxia didn't take it seriously and just regarded it as a blank check.
I haven’t won yet, who knows who will get the Heavenly Master’s Talisman?
But An Yanxia also gradually remembered what Monk Tanyin had said just now, especially the sentence "Anything that is done is wrong, and talking about dragons and tigers is useless. There are thousands of side doors that confuse the world, and those who are lost in the world embark on a thorny path." He almost pointed at the alchemy she was practicing and ridiculed her.
She looked at Monk Tanyin, who smiled and said, "I wonder what you think, Master? I hope you can give me some advice."
Yanxia said, "The white horse from India hasn't even arrived yet, but we've already attacked Nanhua. The Dao is originally in China, but you're seeking proof in the West. What are you proving?"
Monk Tanyin was stunned, and then heard:
"I hear you're meditating on Zen to understand your true nature, hoping to attain the great enlightenment of the Golden Immortal, seeking the path of no birth. But Zen is also the Dao, and how can the Dao be Zen? You're so hasty to seek enlightenment in emptiness, but do you know that the emptiness within you isn't emptiness itself, but a mysterious spiritual pearl? Within emptiness lies wonderful existence, and within wonderful existence lies emptiness. You seek emptiness to prove emptiness, but that's like having your heart and liver gouged out by a stone lion, with the saliva of a wild fox filling your bones. In your desire to practice Zen, to achieve Buddhahood, you're playing tricks on others. How dare you deceive them?
"I believe that in both the East and the West, everyone has their own true Dharma: there is no need for days, hours, years, or months, nor for the addition or subtraction of heat, nor for the distinction between good and bad. Simply eat when you're hungry, sleep when you're tired, meditate when you're free, and rest when you're lazy. Eat whenever you can and drink whenever you want, without fasting or abstaining. Keep your mind clear, follow the flow, and act according to the time. Then you can achieve the true fruit and live a long and healthy life."
"This is the way of nature. Why bother to ask the Zen gates, to seek countless meditations, only to end up old and useless? Grinding bricks to make mirrors, piling up snow for food, has only lost its youth?"
After listening to her, Tan Yin felt that she was just an outsider who was misleading the world, saying that Zen was the Tao and confusing you and me.
Monk Fashun had already realized that something was wrong, and he took a deep breath and was about to play the Tanyin.
But Monk Daming grasped his wrist and said, "This Supreme Immortal is full of sophistry. I will go and teach Tan Yin a lesson and I will definitely put a dent in her prestige."
Fashun said bitterly, "I am afraid that our Buddhist sect has lost another true seed!"
Monk Daming refused to listen and passed a few words to Tanyin. Monk Tanyin suddenly had an epiphany and became scheming again.
He looked at An Yanxia again and said, "You say that the Tao follows nature. This is the difference between our two Buddhist schools. I won't get into the jargon here, but I've often heard that you, the immortals, value life, and we Buddhists also emphasize compassion. You cultivate the Tao and contemplate the mysteries, living in seclusion. You are undoubtedly born with deep blessings and possess all three virtues. However, all living beings suffer and are trapped in the five turbidities, making it difficult to possess all three. We have each achieved liberation, but how can we bear to see others suffer?"
"Thus, the Bodhisattva, with his great compassion, saves all living beings, regardless of high or low, rich or poor, old or young, male or female, imparting the Dharma of the Great Awakening Golden Immortal, the path of meditation and enlightenment. When we all go to Longhua together, it will not be entangled in tangled arguments, but the true secret of compassion. You do not teach the Dharma lightly, nor do you teach the Way without reason. Soaring above the three heavens, freely wandering in the immortal mountains beyond the sea, the world suffers, so what do you say about the immortal path and the preciousness of life?"
An Yanxia scolded, "You can't argue with me, and you want to change the subject. Talking about mercy is laughable.
"While there are indeed ways to practice compassion in this world, and we immortals do value life over compassion. But when has the word compassion ever been used by those who practice the way of non-birth?
"You only seek the word 'emptiness'; how can you be compassionate? Yet you have lost yourself in a lion's den, reduced to a toad at the bottom of a well. You teach people to be compassionate, to escape into the Buddhist monastic life, and only preach the Pure Land of the Western Paradise, but do not dispel the burning five elements of the human world.
"To talk about the three-life karma that follows shadows is but a sweet-smelling medicine, misleading sentient beings. They do not know how to carry a gourd into the decaying rice, gathering hundreds of herbs to aid the world, comfort people and benefit all things, or to raise the dead to bring the living, to spread the Dharma to eliminate the evil spirits of the world, or to subdue the evil spirits on the Five Finger Mountain. Without unleashing the blazing five aggregates to open the source of living water, they vainly seek the way to non-birth. Isn't that foolish?
"I have wasted so many precious years trying to seek the true Dharma of emptiness and tranquility.
"Even if a clay ox roars at the moon, a wooden horse neighs at the wind, I will unleash the Primordial Hammer and withdraw the Muni's power—with stern words, I will rebuke the blue-eyed barbarian monk and, in the silent light, shatter the golden-haired lion. Let the world not ask about the Bodhisattvas of the East and West, nor seek the Amitabhas of the North and South. For everywhere I look is the Dharma Realm, and where is not Dhyana? You seek compassion through emptiness, but what are you seeking?"
"It's good to teach the world that although the Tao is inaction, it can also do everything. It is true that the Tao is not far from people!" An Yanxia rejected it outright, but saw that Monk Tanyin frowned and hesitated to speak. Just as he was about to open his mouth, An Yanxia shouted:
"What kind of emptiness are you cultivating? What kind of compassion are you cultivating?"
There are divisions of teaching;
The monks and nuns in Zongsheng Palace had dry tongues and burnt mouths and were about to suffocate.
The blue-eyed bearded man rushed to the ground. It turned out that Yan Xia was just showing off.
