"Mr. Sherlock! Something's wrong!" the man shouted anxiously, his eyes full of tension.

"Sherlock?" Adam was stunned for a moment, and it took him a while to remember that this was his current name.

Adam looked at the officer in front of him, his heart filled with curiosity and doubt. He was keenly aware of the other party's nervousness and knew that the officer must have something important to tell him.

"What happened?" Adam calmed himself down and asked seriously.

The police officer panted, trying hard to suppress his anxiety, and told Adam: "Mr. Sherlock, the police department has received a very difficult murder case. The crime scene is in the central area of the city, and the suspect is very cunning. We have been tracking him for several days but have not found his whereabouts. The situation is urgent and we need your help!"

Adam was silent for a moment, then nodded. He knew that, though he knew nothing about the world, he was the only one who could solve the mystery. And, coincidentally, he was about to go to the Metropolitan Police Department to inquire about the case in the notebook.

"I'll do my best. Take me to the crime scene." Adam said firmly.

The officer breathed a sigh of relief, expressed his gratitude to Adam, and then led them out of the room and to the crime scene.

Volume 7: The Detective and the Witch

Chapter 593: A strange murder case

Hua and Adam sat in silence in the carriage, gazing at the scenery outside the window. They marveled at the incomprehensibility of this world. Hua also wondered if it weren't for a chance encounter, perhaps they would never have discovered the existence of this world.

The intelligence they gathered revealed a world steeped in medieval European styling, a stark contrast to the real world they were familiar with. Hua's gaze wandered out the window, the buildings, pedestrians, and roads along the way all exuding a medieval atmosphere. However, to their surprise, this world incorporated technology unbelievably medieval. They saw people using strange handheld devices that appeared to be advanced communication tools. There were also strange mechanical devices that, despite their ancient appearance, operated with remarkable fluidity.

Adam also stared out the window, his eyes filled with confusion. How could the technology here exist? Was this world possessed by some mysterious power? Or was there some other unknown reason?

The carriage moved forward slowly, and they gradually approached their destination - the police station.

"Excuse me, Detective, the chief has been waiting inside for a long time." The police officer at the front of the carriage said to Adam and Hua. After the two nodded to each other, they strode into the police station.

When Adam and Hua entered the police station, the surrounding police officers were not surprised by their arrival. It was obvious that the two seemed to be regulars here. The lobby of the police station was filled with a faint smell of tobacco, and the dull atmosphere made people feel depressed.

The two arrived at the chief's office, Adam filled with questions. This time, the investigation involved a bizarre murder case, the killer as mysterious as a ghost, and even the police were at their wits' end. The chief had high hopes for Adam, hoping he could solve the mystery.

When Adam walked into the director's office, the director looked at him as if he had seen a savior. His office was spacious and simple, with an old map hanging on the wall, marking various important locations.

"Sherlock, Watson, you are finally here!" The director stood up excitedly, his eyes revealing anxiety and anticipation.

Adam smiled faintly and walked with Hua to the director's desk. On the desk was a detailed investigation report, the handwriting on the paper was messy and dense, and it was obvious that the director had been studying the case intensely.

Seeing the director's anxious expression, Adam made a soothing gesture. He slowly approached the director, gently patted his shoulder, and signaled him to calm down.

"So, Chief, what's the situation? You're looking for me so urgently, so this must not be an easy case."

In response to Adam's question, the director showed an embarrassed expression and rubbed his eyebrows with his fingers.

"I'm sorry, if it wasn't so difficult, I wouldn't have asked you for help. In fact, this murder case is really giving us a headache, because just now, the body stored in the police station disappeared out of thin air." The director's voice revealed deep helplessness.

Adam and Hua looked at each other, their eyes flashing with surprise and confusion. This was the first time they heard that a corpse could disappear out of thin air. How could this be possible?

The director placed his hand on the report on the table and pointed at the picture on it.

"This is a photo of the victim. His name is Jeffrey Stevens, a wealthy businessman. A few days ago, he was found dead in his mansion. There were no suspicious signs at the crime scene, as if the murderer was a ghost. We investigated the surrounding neighbors and employees, but found no clues. However, just as we were about to continue the investigation, the body disappeared."

Adam and Hua looked at each other in bewilderment. They could both sense the complexity and strangeness of the case. This was no ordinary murder, and the murderer seemed to possess supernatural powers.

Adam turned his head and stared at the director.

"Chief, are you sure this is not a prank? Could it be someone inside the police station?" There was a hint of doubt in Adam's voice.

The director shook his head, his face full of bitterness.

"We've ruled out the possibility of an inside job. Furthermore, this type of homicide isn't an isolated incident; similar cases have occurred frequently in the city in recent months. Each time, the body disappears from police surveillance. We've investigated the crime scene and even consulted scientists and psychics, but all to no avail. This case has become a serious concern for us, and we need your help, Sherlock."

Adam and Hua exchanged a glance, both of them somewhat surprised to encounter such a bizarre case upon arriving in this world. The disappearing bodies and the untraceable murderer seemed like something straight out of a science fiction novel.

They were silent for a moment before Adam finally broke the silence.

"Chief, I need more details. Were there any special phenomena or sounds at the moment the body disappeared?" Adam's tone was full of alertness. They needed to get more information as soon as possible.

The director shook his head in distress.

"No, there wasn't anything unusual. We were examining the body when suddenly it turned into a puff of black smoke and began to dissipate, leaving nothing behind except some strange liquid. We can't even be sure if the murderer was human or something else. That's why I need your help, Sherlock. I hope you can find the answer."

The director sighed at this time. This was the first time he had encountered such a situation in all his years as a policeman. The key point was that the people who died this time were not easy to deal with. The pressure they were under was really too great.

"In that case, we need to go to the scene to find out what's going on." Adam thought for a moment and quickly made a decision.

"I'll leave the next thing to you." After a moment of silence, the director said to Adam.

Adam nodded and decided to go to the house of the wealthy businessman named Jeffrey Stevens to find out what was going on.

"Oh right! There's one more thing I forgot to tell you. After this is over, I'll leave that matter to you as well."

Just as Adam was about to go out, the director called Adam again.

Adam was stunned at this moment, and for a moment he couldn't understand what the other party was talking about.

That thing, could it be referring to the thing recorded in the notebook?

Chapter 594: Investigation

Adam and Hua drove to Jeffrey Stevens's manor, a grand and luxurious building. A cordon was hung at the gate, and police were on high alert, cordoning off the entire area. From the gate, they could see the panicked servants inside, hurrying through the halls and gardens, whispering to each other. Each one had a worried look on their face, their brow furrowed, clearly shaken and panicked by their master's sudden passing.

Adam and Hua presented their detective IDs. The guards hesitated briefly, but ultimately let them in. Upon entering the manor, they were immediately captivated by its magnificent scenery. The flowers in the gardens bloomed in a vibrant array of colors, emitting a rich fragrance. The elegant fountains sparkled in the sunlight, their crystal water droplets shimmering as if to tell of the manor's owner's past glory.

However, a gloomy and tense atmosphere permeated the manor, weighing heavily on Adam and Hua's hearts. They followed the manor's paths, through the charming gardens, and arrived at Jeffrey's mansion. The door was tightly closed, as if silently guarding its owner's secret. Adam gently rang the doorbell, but the silence behind the door made him feel a little uneasy.

The door slowly opened, and a middle-aged maid greeted them with a sorrowful expression. Her eyes were moist, and her lips trembled, clearly grief-stricken over her master's death. She led Adam and Hua into the spacious living room. The atmosphere in the living room was solemn and oppressive, a faint sadness permeating the air.

On the living room wall hung a portrait of Geoffrey. He was handsome, his gaze piercing, and he exuded a sense of power and authority. Adam studied the painting carefully, trying to find some clue. His eyes gradually grew deeper, as if he were lost in a maze of thought.

Hua noticed the marks on the ground—those were hurried footprints. He crouched down, observing them carefully. The footprints intertwined, as if describing a fierce struggle. Hua gently traced the footprints with his fingers, as if he could sense the tension and danger. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes; he knew these footprints would be the key to solving the mystery.

"I'm sorry, but our master has been murdered, and we're a bit flustered. Please forgive us for the poor hospitality," the maid said, a little flustered. Adam nodded slightly, knowing that this tragedy had a huge impact on everyone in the manor.

"Don't mind. After all, we two didn't come here to enjoy ourselves. Please tell us more about your master." Adam said, his tone revealing helplessness and regret for his master's passing.

The maid replied respectfully, "Okay, I will answer you as long as I know."

"Excuse me, has your master had anyone visit you recently?" Adam stared at the maid's eyes, trying to find some clues from her expression.

"Yes, but most of them are guests who are familiar with the owner. There are no strange people." The maid replied after thinking for a while.

"So, there are some people you're not familiar with, right?" Adam noticed something unusual in the maid's answer and immediately asked.

The maid hesitated for a moment, then said, "There was a lady named Irene Adler who came to visit us once. As far as I know, the master is not very familiar with her."

Adam and Hua exchanged a meaningful look. They both knew in their hearts that this Irene Adler was most likely related to Jeffrey's death.

Adam pressed on, "Do you know how long Irene Adler stayed at the estate? Did anything special happen after she left?"

The maid frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "She stayed in the manor for about two hours. She seemed a little hurried when she left, and seemed to be in a bad mood. But I don't know if anything special happened after she left."

Adam and Hua exchanged glances silently, and they decided to make Irene Adler the focus of their investigation.

"Now that we have some clues, let's go to the crime scene." Adam said to the maid.

Soon, the maid brought Adam and Hua to the guest room. When they opened the door, the room was filled with a thick, suffocating smell of death.

However, just as the police chief had said, the body had vanished from the room. Adam frowned slightly, knowing that this was no accident.

"Has anyone been here before?" Adam asked the maid at this time.

The maid frowned, recalling what had happened. "No one else has entered this room except the police officers."

After hearing the maid's words, Adam looked at the strange liquid on the ground. This was probably the only thing left after the body disappeared. This liquid, or something similar to it, looked familiar to Adam. He seemed to have seen it somewhere before.

"Captain, this is probably a high-concentration quantum energy. I don't know why it turned into liquid." Hua said to Adam at this time.

Adam frowned, staring at the liquid, trying to recall where he had seen this strange substance. Suddenly, an image flashed through his mind.

"That's right, Hua. This is indeed a high-concentration quantum energy, but why does it turn into liquid?" Adam's voice was a little uneasy. He felt that the complexity of the matter was far beyond their imagination.

He squatted down and gently touched the liquid with his fingers, feeling its coldness.

Generally speaking, quantum energy only produces this kind of thing when communicating with the quantum sea, not to mention liquids that have reached liquid concentration.

Could it be that the corpse was actually teleported into the quantum sea?

Adam then turned to the maid and asked, "Do you have any detailed information about Miss Irene?"

After hearing this, the maid thought for a moment and finally shook her head to indicate that she didn't know.

"Is that so? Looks like I have to go find that director to get some information."

Adam stood up at this time and prepared to leave.

However, just as Adam was about to leave, he suddenly felt that someone outside seemed to be watching them.

This made Adam alert.

Who on earth would be monitoring the two of them at this time?

Chapter 595: Goodbye Hare

When Hua and Adam were about to discuss their next move, they suddenly realized that someone was watching them from outside. They immediately became alert and listened attentively. After confirming that there was someone outside, they jumped out of the window without hesitation.

"Who is it! Stop!"

On the rooftop, a dark shadow stood there, seemingly startled by Hua and Adam's sudden action. His body swayed slightly, and he instinctively began to flee. But Hua was unwilling to let this peeper go. Fury ignited, she gritted her teeth, and leaped to her feet.

Hua's body spun rapidly in the air, his arms clenched into fists, and he struck the shadow with terrifying force. This punch, carrying all of Hua's strength, was like a bomb, unstoppable. As the fist descended, the ground began to shake violently, and a crack appeared.

Instantly, the ground shattered, scattering debris like a meteorite crashing into the Earth. A massive crater, over three meters in diameter, appeared before their eyes. The pit was bottomless, a dark abyss that seemed to swallow everything.

The shadow was clearly startled by Hua's punch. He swayed slightly, then quickly turned around, trying to escape. However, just as he turned, Adam had already quietly arrived behind him. The sword in his hand was like a flash of lightning in the moonlight, stopping at the shadow's neck.

The shadow felt the chill of the sword's edge, his eyes revealing fear and helplessness. Facing Adam's questioning, he could only helplessly say, "I surrender, Captain. Can you please put down the sword? It's me."

Adam saw the shadow's appearance clearly in the moonlight and was shocked to find that it was actually Hare Rabbit. He asked in shock, "Hare Rabbit?! Why is it you? Where did you go before?"

"Ahem, actually, I came here a week before you guys. I was investigating this place, but I didn't expect to run into you guys."

Hare Rabbit smiled awkwardly, with a hint of shame in his eyes.

"You arrived a week ago?" Adam asked in surprise. He remembered that they all came to this world together, so why did Hare Rabbit arrive a week earlier than the two of them?

"How would I know? But if we investigated a week in advance, we would have found out a lot of things." Haitu replied.

"You said you investigated a lot of things? For example?" Adam's curiosity was aroused.

Hare Rabbit smiled mysteriously and said slowly, "For example, the identity of Irene Adler."

Adam and Hua exchanged a glance. They both knew Irene Adler was a mystery, a key figure in this world, and their target. Hearing Hare mention her, they couldn't help but become even more vigilant.

"Do you know Irene Adler's identity? Tell us now, don't keep us in suspense!" Adam urged nervously.

"Please be patient, everyone. Don't be anxious. Before we continue, I would like to ask you, have you ever read the novel by Sherlock Holmes?" Haitu asked Hua and Adam.

At this time, Hua shook his head, and Adam nodded slowly.

"Since you've read it before, Captain, I believe you've already guessed that this world is based on the principles of that classic detective novel."

As soon as Hare Rabbit said this, Adam suddenly understood.

It turns out that names like Sherlock, Watson and Irene Adler are all characters in the book.

"So, what do you want to say?" Adam continued to ask Haha Rabbit.

"Since the other party's name is Irene Adler, then it is obvious that this woman is not the murderer in this case. Captain, don't you understand?"

In the original novel, Irene Adler is the one who changed Holmes's view of women and is one of the people Holmes admires. Holmes calls Irene Adler "the woman who

In the book, she wasn't a villain; rather, she was more like the heroine. Adam's brow furrowed slightly after hearing the rabbit's words. He recalled the description of Irene Adler in the Sherlock Holmes novels: a clever, resourceful, brave, and beautiful woman who had a special relationship with Holmes.

Adam thought for a moment, then said, "You mean Irene Adler might be the key figure in this incident? She might know something we don't know yet?"

Hare Rabbit nodded and smiled mysteriously. "Captain, you are indeed smart. That's exactly what I meant. During my investigation, I found some clues that point to Irene Adler. I believe she is hiding many secrets."

"Since we suspect Irene Adler is involved in this incident, what should we do now?" Hua asked.

Hare Rabbit thought for a moment, then said, "I've found out where Irene Adler lives. She lives in an old apartment nearby. I think we should go find her and see if she knows the truth about this incident."

"Well, we'll go talk to that lady tomorrow. But it's too late now. We have to report to the director."

After thinking for a moment, Adam said to Haitu and Hua.

"I don't mind, but I'm more curious about what Ms. Irene has to do with this case. I think it has a lot to do with our arrival in this place."
