The Fallout series describes the story that happened on this land one hundred or two hundred years after the catastrophe.
Because the technology line has become very strange, there will be a lot of nonsensical and ridiculous technologies, but this kind of ridiculous technology and the changes that occur with the passage of time are also the fun of this game series.
To put it simply, the story of New Vegas takes place in the Mojave Desert.
In this desolate desert lies a vital energy facility: the Hoover Dam. Remarkably, the dam's infrastructure remains largely intact after the nuclear war, and its generators provide a constant supply of electricity to the surrounding land.
Even the Hoover Dam is considered the most important bridge connecting the east and the west. There are naturally turbulent rivers on the north and south sides of the dam. Only a wide dam is most suitable for the deployment of troops and the transportation of supplies.
At this time, two powerful military forces, the New California Republic (Harmony) in the west and Caesar's Legion in the east, were rapidly expanding. Both chose the dam as a key stronghold, and fierce fighting broke out there.
To the southeast of the dam, on the site of the former gambling city of Las Vegas, a gambling city controlled by the pre-war genius technology designer "Mr. House": New Vegas has become an oasis in this wasteland.
After Mr. House's army of robots repaired and rebuilt the casino, it surprisingly regained its pre-war glory. Mr. House tamed and trained the local natives, putting them in charge of managing the facilities and running the business.
These natives transformed into the three major local families, jointly operating different casinos and various consumer facilities here. The arrival of NCR soldiers brought vitality and money to this place.
On the surface, the most powerful forces are the NCR in the west, Caesar's Legion in the east, and New Vegas led by the local Mr. House. The rest are small local forces and tribes and cannot compete with these three parties. However, as the protagonist, you can win over these local forces and thus influence the final outcome of the entire region.
In addition, there are many other rich side plots and characters... If the previous world was a world where Sun Yang could not show his talents, then this world is perfect for his activities.
Who wouldn't want controlled nuclear fusion technology? Even Irons didn't have it. If Sun Yang could acquire this technology, all his own technologies would be greatly improved.
There are also various other technologies... There are so many things in the Mojave land that need to be discovered by yourself.
But before he went out to lobby and search, he had one most important thing to do.
It is to find the legendary "postman".
The Postman is the absolute protagonist of New Vegas. He's also the player's controllable character. Before the game begins, Mr. House commissions the player's Postman to deliver a platinum chip to him. However, midway through, one of Mr. House's men betrays him and shoots the player in the head.
The shot didn't kill the postman, but it did cause him to forget a lot of things. He couldn't recall the past, but he remembered being shot by a man and having the platinum chips he was responsible for transporting stolen.
The story begins when the postman leaves the house of the doctor who kindly treated him and sets foot on the land of Mojave.
Overall, the story of this game is quite complicated. Sun Yang likes it very much, but no matter how much he likes it, this postman is a rather troublesome existence.
If Sun Yang was not mistaken, no matter how bad the player was at playing the Postman, this guy was definitely a tough guy in his background. At least his record clearly included knocking down a Deathclaw with a butter knife.
You know, in this post-nuclear world, delivering packages is no easy task. Here, the postman is more like a lone escort, who must be familiar with the route of action and have sufficient survival and combat abilities to survive in this dangerous world.
What's even more terrible is that if you follow the original storyline, this postman can actually control the lives of everyone in this area... A guy this ridiculously powerful is impossible not to deal with.
What Sun Yang was doing now was driving like crazy all the way to Qingquan Town, the town where the postman had awakened. He then left Aliana there and asked her to find the postman and travel with him.
As for why Ariana was chosen, on the one hand, Ariana is an elite humanoid created by the United States during the Third World War in the Girls' Frontline world. It would be more appropriate to let her be in charge of the activities here.
What’s even more interesting is that Ariana is a “Ranger”, and one of the elite forces of NCR is called “Rangers”.
Sun Yang thought this was appropriate, so he risked his life to get Aliana out, let her get in the car, and headed towards Qingquan Town.
112.5 Fallout World Instructions (Free)
As we all know, the Fallout series has a serious problem with its book-dwelling. For example, there are all sorts of power issues, the energy issues within the game, and why the fourth generation added something as insane as a fusion core.
Anyway, these are things that are totally hard to wrap around, so I'll tell you in advance, just change these settings (annoying). Bethesda, you're going to make a hammer game, I really want to kill your horse.
Let's start with power armor. It's no secret that Fallout 4's power armor features a power frame and interchangeable parts and mods. While these improvements are nice, the ability to choose your own mods is truly amazing.
However, the defensive performance and component wear of this power armor are too exaggerated. Therefore, this defensive performance is considered as a gameplay consideration.
What the hell is this nuclear fusion core in a power armor? Other generations don't need a core at all. The built-in nuclear fusion engine can completely solve the power problem. Why are you messing with this thing? It's a good engine, why are you messing with it?
I did some research and discovered a truly confusing history. Some say the T45's nuclear fusion reactor had severe heat dissipation issues, a problem addressed by the T51, which also included upgrades to a host of life support systems, head modules, and armor materials. Others claim the T45's use of micro-fission batteries resulted in poor endurance, a problem only resolved with the later switch to a nuclear fusion core.
So one route is the fusion reactor, and the other is the battery? I looked at the power armor in New Vegas, and there's something like a cooling system on the back.
So here we have two sets of technology routes. The western side uses a nuclear fusion reactor as the power source of the power armor, and the eastern side has unearthed a modified model of power armor that uses a nuclear fusion core as the power source.
Basically, the West doesn't have to worry about power shortages, but a broken fusion reactor is harder to repair. The East's endurance is enough to sustain operations for several months, but it's also easier to replace.
So I modified some of the settings, making nuclear fusion cores more scarce and only used in large corporate industrial bases. In addition to the military importance of the battle for Hoover Dam, the most important thing is to provide a long-term and stable energy supply.
Nuclear fusion cores always have problems with exhaustion and insecurity, but the Hoover Dam is unlikely to last for hundreds of years without incident, and its power generation capacity is actually quite impressive.
The nuclear fusion core was retained. Given the widespread availability of nuclear fusion generators, the nuclear fusion core served as a backup power source for various facilities, temporarily providing reliable power to maintain production. After all, this thing is ultimately a super battery.
The old popsicle's incredible ability to hand-make various water purifiers and generators has been removed. This doesn't fit the Fallout universe and is yet another strong proof that Bethesda doesn't understand Fallout. Doing so would make the protagonist of the first and third generations of the Eastern Brotherhood look like clowns. Instead, it's now possible to hand-make things like distillation vessels. While pure water can't be made, filtering it is still possible.
I'll add more as I think of them. For now, that's all I can think of.
113 Ariana seems to be chasing the postman
War, war never changes. When nuclear war consumes the earth, those who survived hide in a huge underground shelter.
After the opening of the Sanctuary, these residents began to build new societies, villages, and tribes from the ruins of the old world. Decades later, the American Southwest has come under the banner of the New California Republic (NCR), continuing the values of the old world - democracy and the rule of law.
The NCR continues to grow and sends soldiers eastward to explore new territories and wealth in the barren and unforgiving Mojave Desert.
They brought back news of a city that hadn't been hit by the nuclear bomb, and a massive wall spanning the Colorado River.
The NCR then mobilized its forces eastward to capture Hoover Dam and restore it to operation. However, across the Colorado River, a different force was rising.
A huge army composed of slaves, claiming to have conquered eighty-six tribes - Caesar's Legion.
In the four years since the NCR occupied the dam, they have only been able to barely resist the Legion's attacks. Caesar's Legion did not retreat. Across the river, they accumulated strength, built barracks, and trained soldiers.
Despite all this, New Vegas's business district remains open to the public, controlled by a mysterious overseer: Mr. House.
He has the support of three major local families and has a team of robot guards.
And you, a postman, are hired by Mojave Express to deliver a cargo to the New Vegas business district. This seemingly simple job hides huge dangers and will change your destiny.
"Here, these are supplies for you. If you need anything, send me a message and I will send a drone to transport the supplies to you." Sun Yang braked the car near Qingquan Town based on the terrain.
Ariana's nice outfit was replaced with a wear-resistant and dirt-resistant coat in local style, and she wore a plaid shirt, jeans and sturdy and reliable leather boots underneath.
Her hair was tied into three braids, a SCAR assault rifle was placed in front of her, her face was dirty, and she had a large canvas backpack on her back, which contained the bullets Ariana needed, battery supplies and bottle caps for exchanging supplies.
"Will I see the postman here?" Ariana adjusted her weapons and equipment. Although it was a stealth and disguise mission, the weapons provided were quite generous.
"No matter what, the postman will definitely set out from this Qingquan Town. You will find out where the postman is going. Well, there should be nothing else you forgot to bring." Sun Yang finally stuffed a handful of bottle caps into Ariana's hand to ensure that she would not collapse due to lack of money.
"So after I meet her? I will just follow her?" Ariana confirmed it one last time. After all, Sun Yang's instructions made her somewhat confused.
"Just follow her. What I need is where she is and what she is doing. There is no need to influence her thoughts... Do you have any other questions?" Sun Yang got back on the off-road vehicle and asked Ariana.
"No, leave this task to me." Although Aliana had never done the task of lurking around someone, she still knew how to communicate with the local people.
Sun Yang drove away. He needed to retrieve some important technologies before the postman wandered around, or contact certain forces in advance - not to form an alliance or something like that, but mainly for more powerful technology and weapons.
An infiltration operation? Ariana watched her cheap commander drive away with uneasiness, a vague sense of unease rising in her mind.
Aliana did not stay where she was, she continued walking towards the town called Clear Spring.
Although through his commander's explanation, he roughly understood what the forces here were and what level of armament they had.
The sun seemed to be shining brightly overhead as Ariana continued northward along the broken road, which seemed to be lined with various rocks and dry trees on both sides.
But soon, Ariana saw a cultivated farmland, next to which were rusty water tanks and dilapidated large buildings.
Walking a little further in, you'll see several buildings stacked close together. These buildings are clearly in much better condition than the ones you just visited. The iron roofs and walls have been repaired and patched, and there's even a sign at the entrance announcing that electricity is available.
The sign said OPEN 24 HOURS, and even though it was broad daylight, the sign was still flashing.
It was probably a local bar. Ariana looked around. The town was very quiet, so quiet that she even thought there was no one here.
Of course, there were people here. A few sun-tanned, chapped men dressed like farmers sat in the shade, loudly complaining to each other about the heat and chugging beer.
Occasionally, one or two farmers who were too tired to do farm work would stagger back from outside, carrying their hoes and walking back with their upper bodies bare and sweating.
Apart from the fact that the road was too dilapidated, this place felt no different from the small town in the countryside. Ariana walked around the farmer who was sitting in the shade drinking beer and pushed open the door of the bar.
"Woof woof woof!" A burst of dog barking was immediately heard in the store. Ariana looked in the direction of the sound and saw a big black dog standing not far away. Its body was tense and it seemed that it would pounce at any time.
"Xia'an, sit still," a woman wearing a slim leather jacket and leather pants, with her hair tied back, comforted the black dog, "Don't worry, she won't bite without my order."
She carried a rifle and looked quite energetic. Although she appeared experienced with firearms, her demeanor and movements indicated she wasn't a trained warrior, likely just a volunteer militia guarding the town. Ariana took two seconds to assess the woman before her.
"I'm Shanny Smiles, welcome to the Treasure Hunter Bar. Would you like something to drink, girl?" Shanny asked friendly.
The bar was packed, and it seemed like every seat was occupied. The bartender was trying his best to serve drinks to everyone, while keeping an eye on the people at the bar to prevent them from sneaking in and taking a drink from the wine cabinet.
The temperature inside the store seemed even hotter than outside. Anyone with a little money in their pockets came to the bar to spend money and drink beer.
"Give me a beer, and I need to ask about someone." Ariana slapped a few bottle caps on the table. She noticed that several people seemed to be looking at her secretly.
"Oh? Who is it?" The bartender took the bottle cap away, poured a large glass of warm beer and handed it over.
"I'm looking for a courier. He should have arrived here a while ago," Aliana relayed the information her commander had given her. "He's injured, probably shot in the head. I heard he was sent here."
"Oh, it's the postman." The bar owner wiped the cup. "You're late. She's gone."
114 The postman doesn’t seem to be a serious person
According to the bartender, a while ago a seriously injured postman was sent here by a robot named "Victor" and was cured by a kind doctor here.
The postman does not want to reveal her name, and she asks others to call her: Postman No. 6.
According to the old doctor, the postman was a very unique woman. When she was in Qingquan Town, she would help the locals with various tasks, such as using her knowledge to help others and cleaning up uninhabited warehouses near the town. No matter how you look at it, she was a helpful and kind person.
She is very strong, has good eyesight and insight, is as strong as an ox, has a good brain, and is very dexterous. Such a person is a powerful figure wherever she is.
But he has a very bad flaw. This postman No. 6 is particularly easy to offend people when talking to them.
He can clearly understand what is said and can fix things very quickly, but he speaks very rudely, often foul-mouthed, telling jokes from hell, and mocking other people's shortcomings.
This offensiveness wasn't just reflected in her foul mouth and uncontrollable sarcasm. Perhaps because of the hole in her head, Postman Six had trouble controlling her facial expressions, which caused her a lot of unnecessary trouble.
Even when talking to people about serious matters, the postman would start laughing and then suddenly make faces, and the postman had to work very hard to correct his facial expression back to normal.
The people in Qingquan Town knew that the postman had a hole in his head and couldn't control his words and expressions, so everyone was able to tolerate it.
But a few days ago, a guy from the Explosives Gang came to the town to cause trouble, and Postman No. 6 took the initiative to negotiate with him.
"Guess what? The postman smiled a little at first—and I knew this was going to get weird. She then told the Dynamite Gang members, 'You're all brainless cowards! You wouldn't even dare come over here when I peed.' I thought she was just being aggressive, but she actually took a squirt gun filled with beer and sprayed the Dynamite Gang members across the street... You didn't see that scene; it was hilarious."
Aliana suddenly felt that the beer she ordered was particularly unpalatable, even though it wasn't very tasty to begin with.
"Then the Dynamite Gang said they were going to bring some guys back to fight. But not long after he left, the postman left with guns, knives, and explosives. We don't know where she went, but when she came back, she was covered in blood and had a whole bag of equipment."
"You mean, she killed the entire Dynamite Gang?" Ariana was a little incredulous. A gang that threatened to bring about a fight must have a lot of people, even if they had poor weapons. To single-handedly wipe out an entire gang was incredibly powerful for a human being.
"At least since then, the Dynamite Gang has never come to bother us again. And you know, she usually can't speak normally." The bartender hurriedly poured another beer. She seemed happy to tell this story to all the customers who came here.
"What happened next? Where did she go?" Ariana asked.
"She went north first, intending to go directly to New Vegas, but ended up returning covered in wounds. Going north along the road from Clear Springs, you'll find Sloane and the Quarry Hub. Sloane is the camp of the quarry workers. The postman said the Quarry Hub was infested with Deathclaws and impossible to get through, so she had to go in another direction. The postman rested here for two days, and after recovering from her injuries, she headed southeast to Primm Town."
"Prim Town? Finally, there's a clue." Ariana put down her glass.
"I don't know why you are chasing her, but she is a good person here with a good mouth. If you want to hurry, be careful of the groups of coyotes and lizards on the road, but you shouldn't be too afraid with the weapons in your hands. If you want to buy some supplies, the grocery store next door has everything." The proprietress rambled on again.
Aliana said goodbye to Qingquan Town. She carried her canvas backpack and walked quickly south along the broken road.
The dust of Mojave mixed with the heat waves made Ariana uncomfortable, but she had undergone modifications before coming here so that her body could better adapt to the environment here.
It seemed like someone was following behind her, but Ariana ignored it. Anyway, by the time it got dark, these people wouldn't be able to keep up.
Ariana wasn't sure what the Deathclaws were, but based on the descriptions of the locals and the commander, they were likely some kind of powerful artificial creature. If possible, avoid fighting them.
Among the hills and wild grasses in the wilderness, you could occasionally see groups of coyotes, and on the other side, strange lizards half the size of a human that could walk upright. On the hillside, she also saw scorpions about the same size as humans moving around.
Why are there such large lizards and scorpions? Aliana felt that nuclear radiation alone could not have caused the creatures here to grow so strangely.
No wonder the people in the bar told people to be careful of the local animals. There are not many people in Qingquan Town, and the local wild animals are very active, so incidents of animals attacking humans are often seen.
Although these animals looked quite dangerous, for some reason they showed little interest in Ariana, only glancing at her occasionally before quickly moving on. Perhaps they sensed she wasn't human.
Night fell over the Mojave Desert, and the temperature outside plummeted. The daytime heat felt unreal, and the nearly 20-degree temperature difference made the people standing guard outside miserable. Even the group following Ariana felt the same way.
They thought they had stumbled upon a rich, lucrative individual, a lone traveler in a coat and carrying an automatic weapon. They couldn't have found a better target, especially since she seemed to have no common sense.
Their original plan was to sneak over and kidnap Ariana while she was asleep, and keep or sell the things she had. But as they chased her until dark, they gradually realized a problem.
This girl seemed to have never stopped. She had been walking for more than ten hours and had no intention of stopping even when it was getting dark.
