As the head of Team Zero, Amuro Tooru was forced by orders from his superiors to allocate a large amount of resources to the operation against "Zoo".
From the perspective of higher-ups, these arrogant terrorists are the more imminent threat than the winery, which is currently in a "dormant" period.
Kazami Yuya's desk was piled high with reports about the "red spider" pattern, while eyewitness reports about Gin and the man in black, though appearing occasionally, had been downgraded several levels in priority.
And that's exactly the result Hayashi Yoshiki wanted.
The "zoo" was merely a target pushed to the forefront, a perfect decoy to draw fire, while beneath that noisy stage, the power of the Black Organization was silently expanding under his control.
Through the Death Note and the second-generation Ark, countless legitimate shell companies have infiltrated the fabric of the global economy like capillaries; those obstacles in their path have been eliminated without a trace; the underground order has been rewritten, and any dissenting voices have been silently silenced.
Several months later, one evening, at the Kindaichi Detective Agency
After finishing his call with the Asakusa editor at Futaba Publishing and confirming the release date of his new book, Hayashi Yoshiki stretched comfortably behind his computer desk.
"What a peaceful day."
He looked out the window at the peaceful street, where passersby hurried by, their faces beaming with hope for life.
"It's called peace, but Koshimizu Tsuyoshi and I each solved a murder case," Amuro Tooru retorted from the other side.
"...Is that so? After all, it's Beika Town."
Lin Jiashu was speechless.
Just as he was considering whether or not to treat everyone to dinner that night, his phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.
He took it out and swiped the screen.
Yoko Okino: [Yoshiki-kun~?(?>?]]
Looking at the girlish emoticons on the screen, Lin Jiashu smiled happily—he could roughly imagine the other person hiding in the van, holding their phone with an expectant look on their face.
Thanks to the existence of the second-generation Ark, he shamelessly put several girlfriends on the monitoring list. Any risk of a disaster or a chaotic situation would be prevented by the second-generation Ark. For example, if Yoshiki Hayashi is on a date with Yoko Okino tonight, and Ran's location might overlap with theirs, the artificial intelligence will "take her away" in a safe and unsuspecting way.
In addition, taking over the SMS and call interfaces under special circumstances is also a routine operation.
It was despicable, but very effective.
Of course, is 7 o'clock okay? I'll pick you up.
After sending the text message, Lin Jiashu got up, picked up his coat from the hanger, and straightened his tie in front of the mirror.
The young man in the mirror had clear and gentle eyes, which easily earned him the trust of others.
"Is the boss going out again tonight?"
"Yeah, I had a date."
Lin Jiashu turned around and smiled.
Faced with his candor, Amuro Tooru was taken aback for a moment, then smiled helplessly: "...Another date, you're really popular."
"So, how about it? Should I give you a vacation so you can go back to your hometown for blind dates?"
Stop making up stories about me going on blind dates every time!
Lin Jiashu waved his hand.
He had just entered the yard and gotten into his car when his phone suddenly rang.
A call from Conan Edogawa.
"Hey, what's up, Conan?"
"Brother Yoshiki, about that organization we investigated last time, the one that used the names of poisonous animals as code names—"
They're here to share information.
Lin Jiashu showed no emotion—in order to conceal himself, he would of course continue to maintain a facade, pretending to be Lin Jiashu and "Jun Du" diligently investigating the zoo organization.
He spoke earnestly with Conan as he drove into the twilight-shrouded streets.
In the distance, Tokyo Tower lit up, like a lighthouse guiding the lost.
Beneath that lighthouse, the world, forever frozen in "this year," continues to operate methodically in his script.
There is no end.
There is no need for a destination.
Author's Closing Remarks
That's the end.
I breathed a sigh of relief that it ended before it was over 26 years ago.
Although I know there's still something I can write about, when I sit in front of the computer and try to type, I always feel like it's not really necessary...
Thank you for reading this book. This book is a style I've never encountered before, and there are bound to be some parts that may not satisfy you, especially the difference between the early and later parts of the story.
This is partly due to my own lack of ability, and partly because I threw out all the ideas and settings in the early stages, so the later parts were not original and the appeal also declined.
Then there are some things I want to write about that I can't touch, and there's really nothing I can do about that.
In short, I am very grateful and also very sorry for everyone's understanding. Thank you very much.
Then I'll want to reward myself for writing the next book, something I'm good at, haha, but I'll take a short break before that.
Regarding the events after the ending... I'm thinking I might write a side story, something interesting, like what would happen after Yoshiki Hayashi takes APTX4869, or his reaction after the release of "Death Note" in the Detective Conan world. Of course, this would only be side story content, since normally Yoshiki Hayashi wouldn't be that reckless given his personality.
In conclusion, thank you all.
Thank you so much.
Here's a quick plug for the group number: 1035987661 (although I've hardly ever participated).
