Villainess Of Hearts
Chapter 241 - Informant's Terrible Position
In one of the available chambers stayed a man in his room. He wasn't pacing about and had actually lied down to stare at the ceiling. His mind were only focused on specific words from his line of work.
He didn't dare say them aloud, but he knew them by heart. Had to learn then because the black book was already out of his hands and controlled by another.
'Please look out for a young woman around the tender age of sixteen to twenty years old. She may respond to the name 'Alice' and if you find her? Do not engage, but send information.
Find information about twins across the entire Hearts Kingdom, male twins that looks exactly the same as each other.
A man… that likes to use a pipe? If there is any notable individual with some unique talent.'
-R. L. H.
"Haaah…" Blake Landrigan had those words all memorized in the back of his mind for good reason.
Even if he wanted to, he couldn't forget about them. Those were the words written by the Queen of Hearts in what seemed to be a long time ago. And when the Informant Blake Landrigan had received it—it had already been far too late.
He had already been compromised.
Her Majesty Rosalyn Lockhart Hartsmichdt only asked for him to find them when things have already been difficult. If it was said earlier, then such information could have helped him navigate and not underestimate what he had walked into by crossing into the territory he stepped into.
This information should have helped him avoid the Catterpillar and his people about two to three weeks ago.
It was there that Blake found himself discovered in his small little underground temporary home. Soldiers and men on the ground above him. He had been found like some sort of rat and smoked out like a rabbit from its burrow.
And there really had been smoke in an attempt to cut off the air from him. What happened afterwards was the men descending on him like a pack of Jabberwocky to punish him.
The man found himself under the mercy of these antagonists.
Trampled.
Crushed.
Trodden.
Other unpleasant activities used to make him fall in line with this so-call group that wanted to resist the Kingdom of Hearts. Well, make it a better place or some idealogy similar to it. This people who wished to oust the current King and Queen and return to the good old days.
Yes, Blake Landrigan already knew who they were and the people involved. Things started to fall into orderly pieces for him to fix and arranged them into a big and clear picture.
—But he feared for his life.
It was only through sheer luck that Blake Landrigan found himself picked up by the King of Spades and avoided what might have been his untimely death. Otherwise he would have arrived here and been akin to a rat or maybe a snake.
He was here to betray the Queen of Hearts.
Feed her false information.
He needed to do those things or else his own life would be put at risk. He was already in trouble and had been watched by people.
They had watched when he made his replies to the Queen back then through the black book, forced to give planted words.
But that wasn't the end of it all.
He was tracked even as he traveleled on foot to the Castle of Hearts.
All of these were orchastrated.
Only the King of Spades involvement was the metaphorical cog that turned around and stopped the clock from fully functioning properly as it should be.
It was only by sheer luck that he had no one but his own life to fear for. He could take some risks.
.
.
.
Or maybe he couldn't.
The green-haired man stood and held the doorknob uneasily. One twist and turn of the door then he'd be able to leave and search for the Queen of Hearts.
She was no doubt surrounded by people.
And additionally the excuse of not being able to find a bathroom wouldn't work at all either. He sighed and then stepped out. The door slammed behind him and he quickly glanced around his surroundings.
The Castle of Hearts was large and filled with numerous halls and various people from different Noble Houses.
Enemies and allies were to be found.
The more he lingered here, the greater the chances that he'd get caught or finished off quietly.
And then he met a cat.
A large grin on this cat's face.
Blake Landrigan stepped back and threw his hands into the air—punching nothing but thin air. Right after, he quickly pressed his back against the wall in an effort to avoid any attacks from behind him.
"What's this little guy doing here all by himself?" the cat man asked. "Are you lost, little lizard stuck on the wall?" This persom might have purred even right now.
Blake Landrigan gathered his wits together and put two and two together—
"Invisble Menace in the Lands of Lord Duke."
The cat narrowed his eye lightly.
"Or Chesire," Blake added. "Resident of the Blue Forest. A pleasure to finally be of your acquaintance."
Chesire raised his brows, one of his ears twitching. "Hrmmm… have we met?"
"It is known that you are a creature of magnificence and mystery, shrouded almost like the Jabberwocky. And you also choose no sides—so if you can pretend that you haven't seen me then all is well."
"Oh but I have."
"What?"
The Chesire surely hadn't chosen a side. Right? The grin on the cat man's face somehow said otherwise, but finally the man spoke. "What is a person of your stature doing here? You hold no air of any noble or regal nature, and neither are you dressed as a servant."
"Geez, thanks."
Blake Landrigan liked to think that he held a distinguished air around him. But if the Queen of Hearts hardly batted an eye at him earlier.
He was afraid Chesire was right.
He didn't dare say them aloud, but he knew them by heart. Had to learn then because the black book was already out of his hands and controlled by another.
