Warhammer 40,000: Mortal Gods

Chapter 2 Bombardment

"Open a psyker's collar?" Qin Mo stared at Caron with a smile, "Have you thought about it?"

Psykers are extremely dangerous.

An untrained person with awakened psychic powers is like a time bomb.

It would be fine if they just went berserk and destroyed. The most terrible thing is that the souls of psykers are extremely obvious in the subspace. They can easily be targeted by the four evil entities and become their tools to extend their claws into the material universe. .

So when he heard that Caron decided to turn on the psychic suppression collar when necessary, Qin Mo himself thought he was crazy.

"Don't worry, I know the flaws of psykers." Caron pointed to the scepter in his hand, "I will ensure that after liberating your destructive power, you will not be able to survive. You will either die in the hands of the rebels. , or I’ll kill you.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Mo looked at the scepter.

A golden scepter with the Imperial double-headed eagle emblem on the top.

It is not a walking stick for the old man in front of me, but a weapon.

"From now on, you don't need to participate in the construction of fortifications. Recharge your batteries." Caron ordered, turned and left.

Bull glanced at Qin Mo and followed Caron away.

Qin Mo rolled his eyes at the two of them and lowered his head to draw something in his diary.

What he does now is one of only two recreational activities.

The first is to look through past records.

The second is to draw the blueprint of the weapon.

Even Qin Mo himself felt strange. He didn't know why he was suddenly interested in scientific research, and there seemed to be something guiding him.

He obviously couldn't understand calculus, but as long as he wanted to study something, various theories related to it would immediately appear in his mind.

So this is both a research process and a learning process.

"Maybe I was blessed by Tzeentch." Qin Mo murmured.

He said this to himself more than once.

After inadvertently blurting out the real name of one of the four subspace gods for the first time, Qin Mo remembered that this was the Warhammer universe, and it was easy to be corrupted by directly speaking the name, especially as he was a psyker.

Maybe it was because the name Tzeentch was translated from Tzeentch, or maybe it was for some other reason. Anyway, there were no consequences, so Qin Mo didn't care so much.

He was obsessed with designing a protective device called the Gravity Shield.

People who wear the shield are immune to physical long-range attacks because the shield generates a gravity field. The wearer in the center of the gravity field is not affected, but there is strong gravity within two meters around him.

Cannonballs and bullets will be squeezed and crushed as soon as they enter the vicinity of the gravity field.

This protective device has been designed and only needs to be manufactured and assembled.

This is not difficult for Qin Mo. He has even thought of a hundred ways to make this thing.

"Perfect." Qin Mo put the diary in his pocket with satisfaction, then lowered his head and looked at the puddle at the bottom of the trench.

Strictly speaking, this puddle is not water, but the coolant used by the logging gun. I don't know which clumsy guy made it flow out.

Qin Mo's face was clearly reflected in the puddle. He admired his own face and couldn't help but sigh, "Qin Mo, you are such a genius."

When Qin Mo was intoxicated with the sense of accomplishment, he suddenly saw a very small object in the puddle.

And strangely, the object is getting bigger.

"What is this?" Qin Mo curiously stretched out his hand and touched the object. When he touched it, the object trembled, making him realize that the thing was not in the puddle, but was reflected by the water in the puddle.

"..." Qin Mo raised his head and looked upward.

boom!

There was an explosion in the trench, and a large amount of metal fragments flew around, followed by a thunderous roar that echoed throughout the position.

All the soldiers and prisoners stood up in horror and looked towards the direction of the explosion.

That was the trench at the front of the position.

Everyone was confused and didn't react at all.

Until the second explosion appeared in the center of the position.

Ten soldiers sitting together on the outside of the trench were located near the center of the explosion. The dazzling flash instantly obscured them, and then a piece of debris flew out of the smoke and landed at Bull's feet.

"The bombardment is coming!" Bull roared loudly, jumping into the trench and climbing down first.

Kalon was standing next to Bull. He did not dodge but hit the ground with his scepter, and a purple energy enveloped him and Bull.

The first two shellings were obviously calibration shots. After the two calibrations were completed, a large number of shells fell like raindrops, and the entire position was filled with explosions and screams.

The bombardment was so sudden and unreasonable that neither the soldiers nor the prisoners expected it, so that they were so disorganized that they did not even have time to hide in the fortifications when they were bombarded.

Of course, it was useless even if you tried to hide. The fortifications had not yet been repaired, and they were rotting away faster than the soldiers' bodies under the bombardment.

As the leader of the regiment, Bull huddled under the protection of Caron and watched in horror as his soldiers were bombed everywhere.

"How could this place be bombarded?!" Bull asked in shock.

This position is located at the entrance to the lower nest, and the planetary defense forces enter the lower nest to fight, which means that this position is equivalent to the rear area.

If the rebel group known as the Evolutionary Sect wants to threaten this place, it must first defeat the Planetary Defense Force's front lines.

Have the battle lines been penetrated?

Bull shuddered at the thought.

Regardless of whether the rebels penetrated the front line or sent a small group of troops to attack here in a roundabout way, more than half of the soldiers on the position had been lost in the shelling.

"We must evacuate!" Bull couldn't stand it anymore and shouted to Caron: "Use your psychic power, use your psychic power to give the order to retreat!"

"No, now is not the time to retreat." Caron shook his head slowly, looking towards the front of the position with his deep pupils.

A large number of rebel soldiers have followed the shelling and attacked the position.

If a retreat order is issued at this time, the entire infantry regiment will collapse, and the result of the collapse in the hive will be to be slaughtered to death by the bottom nest rebels who are familiar with the terrain.

"That psyker, that psyker!" Bull suddenly thought of Qin Mo, "Find him, open his collar, and let him push it first!"

"Of course, I suggest this be the only way." Caron nodded in agreement, closed his eyes and used his spiritual energy to find Qin Mo's position on the battlefield.

Before Cuaron found Qin Mo, Qin Mo, whose face was hit by the shell, was not blown to pieces, but his body had been scarred by shrapnel.

If someone could use thermal imaging to take a look at where Qin Mo was lying at this time, they would see a large amount of heat energy produced from the explosion converging on Qin Mo and pouring into his body.

Qin Mo's body gradually recovered, but his brain, which suffered a strong impact, had not yet fully recovered. He was half asleep and half awake, seeing hallucinations.
