Chapter 110 - Party II

"Truth or dare?" asked Mike at Dion, whose face was dull, uninterested, and bored. "Come on, man. Don't be a party bummer!"

Dion rolled his eyes and exhaled sharply. "Remember this, Mike. If I get the chance to ask you, you better be prepared."

His words actually sent a shiver down Mike's spine as he suddenly drank his drink. Dion glanced at Devon, who was busy chatting with Bella from across them.

"Truth."

Mike cleared his throat as he looked around, getting knowing glances from their other friends. "Are you really not Devon's boyfriend?"

"I'm not," Dion answered as fast as a bolt of lightning. "I told you many, many, many times. We're not boyfriend and girlfriends. She's a family."

"Really?" one man from Dion's side tugged his sleeve. "Is she your cousin or what?"

"No. Nothing like that."

"Man… she's hot." Another one commented under his breath, but his words still lingered in Dion's sharp ear.

Dion glared at that person and narrowed his eyes. "If I were you, don't even think about it if you want to keep your career. She's off-limits."

"Then, you're asking me why I don't believe you." Mike clicked his tongue and shook his head, gazing at Dion with eyes full of disbelief. "Just look at yourself. You're overly protective of her."

"Do you really think she's the only one I'm protecting?" Dion raised a brow as he gazed at every single male friend around him. "Just take my advice and thank me later."

"Man, you're weird. If I just don't know, I will think you're acting like this because she is CEO Qin's lover. But that's impossible, right?" Mike chortled and pushed Dion's shoulder by his elbow.

Well, if they thought about it, Dion's action until now would make sense if that was the case. However, they all had heard about the legendary Lewis Qin, Dion's greatest backer, who didn't have any interest in women or dating. No one just didn't have the gall to start a rumor that Lewis was gay as the person who started that sort of silly rumor before had declared bankruptcy.

"Enough talk now." Dion waved as he had a strong urge to tell them they guessed it right! Just who could possibly make Dion risk being in a scandal if not for Lewis?! But he couldn't disclose his brother's personal affairs now… or what he believed.

This time, as the bottle spun, it pointed at Mike. A smug grin appeared on Dion's face as he faced Mike squarely.

"Bro, I will have to take a drink." Mike offered his friend to pour him some wine, but Dion snatched it away.

"Truth or dare?" asked Dion, as his smug grin turned wicked. "Choose wisely."

"Da — truth!" Mike said, in a pale expression. He shouldn't have taunted Dion just because he was interested in Devon!

"If your mother and I switched souls and the only way to help us is eating shit, will you take a bite or eat it whole?" Dion's question immediately flew past his lips, causing an uproar and waves of laughter from their other friends.

"Bro, that's disgusting."

"Then, if your mother and lover switched souls, will you eat shit?"

Mike winced as thinking about it turned his stomach. "Brother…"

"Then, let's change it." Dion cut him off as it seemed Mike was having trouble in 'choosing'. "Let's say, if your father tells you to eat shit and he won't bother you with your family business, will you do it?"

"Bro, I'm really, really sorry!" Mike wept as he wanted to kneel before him just so he would stop. "Please forgive me. I already learned my lesson and I won't do it again. I will drink ten, I mean, five glasses!"

Dion just let out a sigh as he rolled his eyes. He already told Mike, but the latter kept pressing on his nerve. He watched Mike chug five glasses of alcohol until his neck and face flushed in red.

"Ahh… damn it!" Mike hissed after drinking his third glasses, fanning himself as his body felt hot.

As the game continued, Devon and Bella were occupied in their talk, as the god of luck was with them. It was as if they were in an entirely different world, not caring about the 'shit talk' going on around them.

"I know him!" Devon pointed at the picture Bella showed. "He was the father of that child, right?"

"Huh?" Bella tilted her head to the side. "Father of whose child?"

"The child." Devon repeated innocently. "I was worried when his child got abducted."

"???" Bella furrowed her brows as their talk suddenly went from zero to another world.

"So, you're friends with him? But I hadn't seen you during their wedding." Devon smiled as she faced the confused Bella.

"Uh… I'm sorry, Dev. But I don't remember him being married and…" Bella trailed off as she narrowed her eyes, recalling that that friend of hers had just finished a drama where he had a child. "Are you talking about the drama?"

Devon nodded without a second hesitation. Her quick answer and clueless expression rendered Bella speechless momentarily.

"Well, it's a drama. Of course, I'm not invited since I'm not a cast." Bella chuckled and didn't put that much thought into Devon's inquiry. "You really have funny humor, Devon."

"She's not joking, though. You know she's serious! Don't deny it!" Ghost Lin, who was standing behind them, nagged.

"I see." Devon just nodded, as it seemed her question sounded a little strange to Bella. She couldn't understand, but whatever. It was nice to hear that her 'friend' from the drama was also friends with her new friend Bella.

"Anyway, be careful with all the guys out here." Bella changed the subject, leaning in as she whispered in Devon's ears. "Since you're a fresh blood, they will surely try to get your attention. Don't believe any of them."

Devon chuckled, as that wasn't a problem. "It's fine, but thank you for warning me."

"Even if Brother Dion is protecting you, these guys are sly. Just look at that guy over there." Bella pointed at the man sitting not far away from Dion. "That guy used to chase me around, telling me he loves me and will die without me."

Devon stared at the person Bella pointed out, and he seemed he had drunk a bit too much. "How was he still alive?"

"I know, right? Well, we've still become friends when he lost his interest in me. Well, we did date for quite some time, but we figured we're not for each other." Bella shrugged nonchalantly, as she was cool with being friends with people she had dated. "Not that our dating entered the serious phase."

"Serious phase?"

"Yes. We were just playing, experimenting." Bella explained in a lighter tone, making Devon purse her lips.

Devon couldn't understand Bella's explanation, honestly. For someone who was old-fashioned like her, she couldn't understand the word 'experimenting' in love.

'The youth in this world are quite something.' She kept her thoughts internally while Bella briefed her about who she should be wary about.

While Devon listened, the luck that was bestowed upon her had finally expired as the bottle stopped in her direction. Claps from other men resonated across the room as they finally got to ask Devon some truth or dare.

"Please, don't look at her as if she's a prey." Bella leaned forward and cast each and every one of them a glare. "Keep your questions and dares decent."

"Ey, Bella, you're acting just like Dion now too?" Mike inquired, but immediately pursed his lips when he felt the deathly glare from Dion.

Meanwhile, Devon just raised her brows, as she didn't know what was the fuss about. Well, she was too busy with Bella and couldn't be bothered by other people's interest in her.

"Dev, truth or dare?" Mike inquired after clearing his throat.

"Do I have to choose?" she asked, while tilting her head to the side.

"Of course! Or you can also drink three glasses!" Mike proposed as both were fine with him. Drinks could make humans do silly things, and Devon was just taking baby sips from her glass of wine. He wanted to see her get wild.

"Dare." One man urged before everyone started chanting the word, 'Dare.'

"Haist! Stop it!" Dion grumbled in irritation, as everyone was being so annoying. Bella, on the other hand, whispered to Devon to choose the former instead of the latter.

"Truth," Devon answered. "But if I may ask, what kind of truth would you like to know? And how will you know if I was telling the truth or making up a lie?"

Her question rendered them speechless for a moment as she gazed at them, eyebrows raised. "Do I have to go through any process to prove if my words were the truth and nothing but the truth? Also, does it apply to every question? Some questions have multiple correct answers and therefore, have multiple truths. So, do I need to only answer one truth?"

"Wow… is she that concerned about it?"

"Hmm?" Devon raised her brows and looked around them, tilting her head as they were suddenly silent after chanting so excitedly.

"Hey, just ask, goddamn it." Dion let out a defeated sigh as he elbowed Mike.

Mike snapped out of his trance and already forgot his question. "Uh… Dev? Do you hate me?"
