Morning came and Devon was struck with a slight headache as soon as she opened her eyes. She was fine last night, a bit drunk, but not to the point she could have a terrible hangover.
"Lu," she called, groping the other side of the bed, but he was not there. A frown immediately turned up on her lips as she dragged herself up.
Devon looked around, noticing the unfamiliarity of the room. Her eyes slowly widened as her mind buzzed, recalling how she ended up in this 'unfamiliar' room. As she reviewed her memory last night, her complexion turned paler with every passing second.
'Take me.'
Those words hovered in her mind, finally realizing how impulsive she was. And then, how she pounced on him and kissed him in front of many people.
Her jaw dropped, in distraught and embarrassed. Although she knew, Devon was aware of what she was doing, she just couldn't control herself. It was as if all her emotions last night were heightened; be it lust, longing, determination, and just everything.
"Oh, good lord." Devon ran her fingers through her hair, tugging her scalp as she bent her knees and burying her face in it. "How can I show him such a disgraceful state?"
She never lost control of herself, or rather, she would never do something to embarrass herself. This was the first, and it gave her a sense of shame. If Lewis wasn't a gentleman, they could've…
'What will he think of me now?' she wondered, in utter distress because now, she didn't have the confidence to face him. 'Did I lose my brain when I came into this world?'
"You're up?" suddenly, his voice caressed her ear, making her raise her gaze towards the door. "Does your head hurt? Are you alright?"
Lewis threw a series of questions, marching towards the bed and perched on the empty side of the mattress. His eyes remained on her, tilting his head as her face was red.
"Your face is red. Do you have a fever?" he raised his hand, extending his arm as he placed his palm on her forehead. "It doesn't seem like it."
"Lu, I…" She pursed her lips, studying his classic nonchalant expression. "… I'm alright."
"Are you sure?" His brow raised, bobbing his face to inspect her.
"Yes!" Devon sported an awkward smile, nodding reassuringly. "I'm alright."
Aside from her slight headache, she was alright. The pain was bearable.
"I see." Lewis nodded in understanding, moving closer to her as he leaned in, taking her by surprise with a kiss. "Then, good morning."
Her eyes instantly went wide as she froze. Instinctively, she placed a hand on his shoulder, feeling him crawl his way towards her. Her eyes widened even more when she felt herself being laid down gently.
"Mhmm!" Devon patted his chest, laying flat on her back as he was on top of her. His pair of black eyes hovered over her, like how a beast stared down at his prey.
"What are you…" she trailed off as her breath hitched when Lewis held her wrist and pinned it down on her side.
"Continuing what we could've done last night." His voice was deep and raspy, paired with the menacing glint in his eyes. "I told you, we will do it once you are sober."
Devon instantly froze. She couldn't move or think as his words repeated inside her head. They would do it once she was sober… right, she thought, he said that along the lines last night.
"Let's release some sexual frustration, shall we?" Lewis bent over, smashing his lips against hers while slipping his fingers in between the gap of her fingers.
"Lu…" Her breath hitched once again as Lewis showered her with kisses, shifting his lips to her cheek, to her jaw, then down to her neck. She blinked, surprised, as her mind lagged and couldn't keep up with the current situation.
"Wait…!" She suddenly clasped his shoulder as Lewis suddenly bit her shoulder. It was not painful, but rather, it was surprising and a bit ticklish.
"Won't you ask me the same when you're sober?" he asked, slowly drawing his head back and his face hovered over her. "If I had agreed last night, will you regret it the second you wake up? Or did you forget about it completely?"
"Lu, that's not it." A deep sigh slipped past her nose, biting her lower lip. "Even if I awoke naked, I wouldn't regret it."
"Are you saying since nothing happened and you're sober now, you had changed your mind?"
Devon pursed her lips into a thin line, staring straight into his eyes as all the memories from last night filled the missing gaps in her brain. She clipped her fingers on his white shirt, hesitant to speak, but still voiced out her thoughts, anyway.
"Marry me." Her sudden proposal felt like a bucket of ice poured down on him. "Didn't you say you want to do it if we get married? Although this sounds shallow, I think we can agree that we had understood how sacred marriage is."
He had to take a moment to digest her words. He was just trying to tease her, to make her realize how impulsive she was last night. However, how could she be so impulsive even when sober? Even so, he felt a little warm with her proposal.
"I was… kidding," he breathed out, pushing himself away from her. "I mean, about the continuing part. I just want to kiss you a lot."
Devon dragged herself up, eyes on him. "Is that so?"
"Mhm." He cocked his head to her, staring at her flushed cheek which urged him to pinch it, so he did. "You are always so welcoming, you're driving me crazy."
Her proposal was the last he had expected from her. Honestly, he felt like because of his personality as a perfectionist, Devon ended up doing everything first. Like how they became official, Lewis wanted it to be magical and perfect — just like how magical and perfect she was — but reality hit differently.
And now, for proposing, Lewis was still in the process of thinking about the best and unforgettable proposal ever. And then again, Devon just proposed to him — just like that.
"Yes," he said after a minute of silence, causing her to raise both her brows. "I mean, my answer to your proposal is yes."
For a second, Devon had to absorb his words. "Oh… so, are engaged now?"
"I guess," he answered, pinching her cheek lightly. "It's a verbal agreement."
Devon pursed her lips and just let him pinch her cheek. She could not help but smile, seeing how peaceful he looked.
"Lu," she called, waiting for him to raise his eyes on her.
When their eyes met, she bit her lower lip and leaned in, and planted a soft peck on his cheek. Lewis raised his brow as he cast her a side-eye.
"I love you." He instantly froze as soon as those words escaped her mouth. "I will always be thankful for your existence."
All he could see was how the side of her lips curled up brightly and how her eyes glimmered as she looked at him. Her words didn't make his heart race, it made his heart skip a beat. Staring at her made it obvious that that was his heart right there.
"I love you…" he whispered, cupping her cheek as he leaned in and kissed her. "… more than I loved you a second ago."

"You will not work today?" asked Devon as they ate together, gazing to her right where he was sitting at.
"I was working before you woke up," Lewis explained as he gave her a side-eye and then jerked his chin towards her porridge. "I brought all my work at home. Eat more, so you can take medicine for your headache."
"You will stay with me today?" her eyes sparkled as he had been very busy.
"Mhm."
Devon smiled from ear to ear as nothing beats a day with her darling. Both of them ate together, and Devon had consumed everything he had given her to remedy her headache. It was a bit too much, but it helped her soothe everything.
"Right!" Devon snapped as she placed down a glass of water. "About Dion and that news circulating about us..."
"It's alright now." Lewis tucked her hair behind her ear. "We dealt with it accordingly."
"Really? But it seemed like a huge problem since others had to leave early last night."
Lewis pursed his lips, keeping his silence. How should he explain some reporters flocked outside the hotel last night, and how he had sent them all away with one warning?
"You know Derek. He is always ready, so he dealt with it." In the end, he pushed all the blame on Derek. His assistant's name was very reliable, after all.
Devon suspected nothing as she nodded, thinking Derek was the best. Ghost Lin vouched for him, telling her how Derek was the typical 'ML'.
"Is that so?" she nodded, leaning her back comfortably against the chair. "Assistant Wang is surely reliable."
"Mhm. Let's take a walk. The garden in this place is good." Lewis suggested, and Devon agreed.
Little did they know, something that neither of them expected — especially Devon — was about to hit them.
"Lu," she called, groping the other side of the bed, but he was not there. A frown immediately turned up on her lips as she dragged herself up.
