269 Boss Area
[YOU HAVE ENTERED BOSS AREA. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE UNTIL YOU HAVE DEFEATED THE BOSS. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEND ANY MESSAGES.]
Jake froze.
It took time for him to understand what had just happened.
"Did I just.. screw myself over?" He muttered.
He turned around, but he was greeted by a blue haze in front of him.
It was a barrier. A blue barrier, with cells all over. This was a virtual barrier to keep him in, no doubt.
Jake stretched his hand forward, but it stopped right in front of the barrier, refusing to cross the barrier itself.
"I'm stuck here?" It took time to digest.
"I was just trying to check this stuff out! Why the hell did I have to be so stupid?" He shook his head.
"Now, I have to go and find the boss of this place? Who the hell do I go to? How am I supposed to go against a whole army on my own?" Jake thought to himself.
"And no doubt, if I am not back in ten hours, the others will pause until I come back. Either I die here, or I finish the fight with whoever the boss of the place is." Jake understood.
He turned back around, looking through the trees. He could see the base of the wall. He was close enough to know that the forest itself had ended.
Soon enough, he was going to be out in the open.
Changing directions, he decided to head toward the door. That way, he would understand how to enter the place.
In his mind, the boss was definitely inside the wall, or across it somewhere. Perhaps the boss was one of the guards up above, and the only way up there was going to be on the other side of the wall.
The sword of misery appeared in Jake's hand as he started slowing down. Now, he was in enemy territory and he knew it. The game just told him that.
"The zombie leader didn't even have this message. Why am I getting this message now? Does that mean that the boss here is stronger than the zombie leader that I faced?" Jake wondered.
"That only makes sense. Thank god I am so far removed from the rest of the players. I can actually use everything in my disposal." Jake told himself.
There were a few good things that came out of this.
As he was approaching the wall, he could see that the number of trees were also thinning slowly. In a few minutes, he was going to lose his cover.
He would be in the open, and if there was a single guard up above, he would know it.
"Screw it. I have a shield lying around anyway." Jake said as he snapped his fingers.
The next moment, a circular shield appeared in his hands. This was a last resort that he always carried around.
He knew it wasn't going to be perfect, but if all of a sudden, a hail of arrows came crashing down on him, then he would have to have something to protect him. The armor of his would do a good job for a while, but the arrows aimed at his face and his hands would not be so well protected.
Jake took one step in the open, and the sun shone bright on his face. But Jake didn't even flinch. His gaze was unmoving, straight up above at the walls.
Nothing.
Arrows didn't come crashing down on him.
He was in the open, and yet he couldn't hear a thing. It was like nothing had happened.
"What is going on? Perhaps they haven't seen me yet? That's a good thing right?" Jake thought to himself.
He walked toward the giant door, but he still hesitated at times, looking up again. Perhaps the enemy was playing a trick on him, and this was all a giant trap.
But he couldn't hear a single thing.
"Screw it. They can't be that intelligent. There must be no one here. Maybe a glitch? Because there is only one opponent, and no one expects just the one opponent?" Jake wondered.
After all, this was meant to be an expedition for a whole guild, and only Jake would be brave enough to come on his own.
And which guild would allow their men to just leave all alone?
Jake could see the door now.
It was made of brass. There was a window pattern on it, with gold and bronzish colors donning the doors, but both the colors were faded away.
Faded enough to make it look like antiques. The door looked like it was a few thousand years old, and Jake had no trouble imagining a world where that was possible.
He knew that whatever his enemy was, they couldn't have possibly built this wall and this door. They weren't big enough, and they weren't technologically advanced enough.
None of the monsters were that advanced.
There was a reason that except two particular kingdoms, every other kingdom was that of men.
"Maybe this is something related to the world giants. That would make things very interesting, would it not? But in my last life, none of this existed. There was no story line related to the world giants." Jake thought inside.
"Ah, how nice it is to speculate when I am just walking into my impending doom." Jake chuckled as he took a few more steps.
Now, he was right in front of the door.
The door was a few hundred feet high, and it only confirmed that it was not meant for humans.
"Well then, how do I go in? And how do I fight this boss?" Jake asked out loud.
"Looks like a challenger has come once again. And I see a brave one, to come here all alone." All of a sudden, a thundering voice shook Jake's lungs.
