Chapter 19 Part 1: Toluk

Flutter.

The sound of a book turning pages was unusually loud.

The Gate was not a natural disaster or divine punishment. It appeared because People from Toluk invaded. It was the signal flare of a war of conquest. A war to subjugate humans and make us their slaves.

Of course, what the Toluk hadn’t anticipated was that with the creation of the Gate, 「Awakeners 」began to appear on our side. So we’ve been watching and preparing for war.

Earth and Toluk have been at odds for a long time. At first they moved slowly, then acted more brazenly five years later, making it clear for us who our enemies were. In a war like this, you learn things you don’t want to know.

Toluk is not like Earth. Whereas we are all just one race, the “Humans,” there are many different races in Toluk. My arch nemesis, the one with pointed ears, was an elf, not a human, and the Beelzebub in front of me is a demon. They’ve only allied themselves together because their lives are in danger due to Toluk’s pollution, but they’ve never really gotten along.
