Chapter 51.023. Hellfire and Swamp Water

The temperature in the air rose several degrees instantly.

The plastic bucket in the corridor melted and sank into a charred lump, curling up along with the garbage inside, and slowly spontaneously combusted.

The spiraling stairwell was filled with flames that rose continuously from the bottom.

He thought for a moment, then turned and ran out of the stairwell.

"Where are you going?" The surrounding noise was chaotic, and only when Amamiya Keitoku shouted could he be heard.

"The restroom, there's plenty of water there."

Jin Ziyue was a little tired, but he gritted his teeth and kept running.

As he held the little girl in his arms for a long time, a tingling and numb sensation came over him, and Amamiya Megumi could feel the older boy's arms trembling.

He put the girl down and turned around to see that the flames had climbed up the steps. The monster burning in the flames was as black as charcoal, but its body was like a crack, bursting out countless tongues of fire.

Jin Ziyue rushed into the bathroom, connected the water pipe, and tightened the faucet.

Megumi Amamiya hid behind him.

Just as they were about to leave each other, a loud bang exploded between the monster and Jin Ziyue. Jin Ziyue turned around and stood in front of Amamiya Megumi.

The water pipe slipped from his hand, bounced, and fell to the ground, splashing water all over Jin Ziyue's clothes.

Thick white mist emanated from the grenade-shaped metal interior, continuously leaking out.

The monster continued to wail.

The billowing white mist churned and rolled, instantly lowering the surrounding temperature; Amamiya Megumi could even feel the coolness on her skin.

Like shards of ice being poured out, the monster's movements in the white mist were frantic, yet it trembled uncontrollably.

The little girl was held tightly by Jin Ziyue, who buried her head in his arms.

When the pressure was released, a thick layer of frost had formed on the monster's body. Countless white ice crystals continued to gush out like a fountain, or fall to the ground like soft sand. The monster reached out and got stuck in the window. No matter how hard Jin Ziyue tried, only its head and half of its body were visible.

Jin Ziyue's palms began to smoke from the heat, but he gritted his teeth and kept pushing against the monster's shriveled body.

The brief freeze was about to end, and the monster's fiery eyes and gurgling flames protruding from its mouth could be seen falling from the sky with a thud.

The young man's clothes caught fire, and the moisture from his eyebrows and hair quickly evaporated, burning his face bright red.

Suddenly, a jet of water shot out.

Seeing that the monster had the upper hand, Amamiya Megumi immediately picked up the scrubbing hose from the ground. Holding up the soft rubber hose, she sprayed Jin Ziyue and the monster with water.

The monster shuddered violently, as if it had touched sulfuric acid, and struggled to its death with a wail, falling headfirst like a scallion.

Amamiya Megumi looked at the soaking wet Jin Ziyue, still feeling lingering fear.

The young man gave her a reassuring smile, even though his eyebrows were almost burned off, his forehead was even blackened, and the white flesh inside his wrist was stained with red blood and some pus mixed with the dripping water droplets.

A hole was burned through the middle of the clothes, revealing bloodied flesh.

“Brother…” Amamiya Megumi’s eyes were filled with heartache, and her voice trembled slightly.

Jin Ziyue gritted his teeth, his whole body soaked in water. The water smeared on the burning wounds, and it felt like salt being sprinkled on them, and then being cut open layer by layer.

Despite the excruciating pain throughout his body, the young man wanted to touch the girl's head, but he was so startled by his outstretched hand that he withdrew it.

His hands were covered in blood, and the crevices under his fingernails were stained bright red.

"I'm fine, let's leave here first."

Jin Ziyue said softly.

The little girl nodded and quickly turned off the tap.

Suddenly, the drains in the various bathrooms all around started rattling.

You can vaguely feel streams of water moving through the pipes.

"Run!" Jin Ziyue made a decisive decision.

The little girl also took a step, splashing water everywhere as she stepped on the surface.

I had just run out of the bathroom when the faucet couldn't handle the water pressure and the water in the toilet burst open.

Water gushed from the bathroom, flowing down the floor.

Ignoring his hand injury, Jin Ziyue grabbed the little girl's arm, lifted her up, and carried her in his arms as he desperately fled.

Water gushed out of the bathroom doorway, instantly shattering the charred door as a liquid monster roared and slammed the door shut.

It was dark green all over, with a liquid-like body, webbed ears and claws, and its crimson eyes were somewhat similar to those of other monsters.

Due to the distance, Jin Ziyue had just taken a step when the door slammed into the ground with a loud crash, and the door panel was deformed and broken from the impact.

The liquid monster did not give up. More and more water gathered from the bathroom drain, and the monster's body continued to grow larger. Driven by the monster, the water surged towards the two fleeing people like a surfer.
