Chapter 56, Section 028: The Battle of Skyscrapers

      Suddenly, Ling's phone rang.

Yan Wuxun only heard the phrase "Moshi Moshi," and understood nothing else.

After the woman closed her phone, she returned to normal, remaining silent.

At that moment, the policewoman's voice came from inside the car.

      Fujiwara Chizuru slowly awoke.

"Awake?" Ling knocked on the car window without turning around. The scent of perfume wafted in through the half-lowered window.

"Looks like I'm not going to die anytime soon." Fujiwara Chizuru's head was still resting on the steering wheel, and she only glanced at it.

The policewoman held her head; the wound wasn't big, but she felt a little dizzy.

"What about them?" Ling gestured with her chin.

Fujiwara Chizuru looked out the car window and saw two Chinese people, one big and one small, standing obediently to one side, looking shifty and reminding her of the time she was punished by her teacher when she was a child.

"That child had contact with Ichiro Amamiya's daughter before, right? It seems the relic was handed over to him."

"This kid gives away his valuable things so easily? Tsk tsk."

      Ling chuckled softly.

"So where are the relics now?"

Fujiwara Chizuru rubbed her forehead, her pretty face full of helplessness: "It's in the belly of the cat next to us."

      Ling was speechless.

"If we really need the relic to regain control of the suit, it seems like there's no hope."

Chizuru Fujiwara opened the car door.

"And what about them?" Ling pointed to the two who were being punished by standing.

"At first, I mistakenly thought the monster was targeting that kid, and it was just a side attack."

Ling walked over, and the two of them huddled together, trembling with fear.

She bent down and pinched Douzi's cheek: "You look familiar."

      "They don't understand Japanese."

      Chizuru Fujiwara added.

"Waaah!" Yan Wuxun burst into tears. Yes, that's right, it was Yan Wuxun.

The policewoman's forehead veins bulged, and she closed her eyes, refusing to look at this disgraceful creature: "What are you crying for, you idiot!"

"How many dialects do you actually know?" Yan Wuxun asked, sobbing.

Fujiwara Chizuru narrowed her eyes and ignored him.

"Well, worrying about this now is pointless." Ling walked over, squatted down, and petted the cat. The boots lay pitifully on the ground, head tucked in, too afraid to move: "Meow~"

Yan Wuxun gave the boots a grateful look. For now, the only option was to sacrifice the boots' appearance and find a chance to escape.

"Because the leather case is almost finished being packed." She looked up and gazed at the tall buildings in the distance.

Fujiwara Chizuru couldn't understand Ling's gaze or the enigmatic smile playing on her lips.

"Why not take this opportunity to resolve everything?"

Ling waved her hand, her eyes teasing: "Your safety is the most important thing. We can talk about the rest later."

Fujiwara Chizuru narrowed her eyes in disgust, thinking that none of these people were normal.

"Oh, right," Ling added, "I'll probably have to leave after I clean up this mess, so don't miss me."

Fujiwara Chizuru glanced at the two people staring at each other before saying, "Is there some trouble again?"

"Ah." Ling helplessly combed her hair with her fingers, only to remember that she had tied her hair into a bun. "A few rats have smuggled themselves over."

She looked at Fujiwara Chizuru with a hint of resentment: "You know, in our line of work, life and death are determined by fate, and wealth and status are determined by heaven."

Fujiwara Chizuru kept a close eye on Yan Wuxun and Douzi's facial expressions, and only slightly lowered her guard after confirming that they still had blank, wide eyes.

"I see. I won't see you off any further."

"How heartless." Ling chuckled. "On the contrary, I'll miss you."

Fujiwara Chizuru, expressionless, asked, "Are there any remaining armed forces here?"

Ling pouted: "Yes, there's a top-notch guy up there, and there's also a suit."

"Top-notch skills? Is he human?" Fujiwara Chizuru suddenly looked serious.

"Hi, hi." Ling's tone was somewhat carefree as she tapped her head lightly with her index finger tucked in.

“If we go up now, they should be pretty much done for. It should be that little rat who was causing trouble in the city a while ago. Consider it a favor you owe me, so I'll take care of him for you.”

      Ling wore a dangerous smile.

      He can't escape my grasp.

"Who asked you to help me deal with him?" Fujiwara Chizuru said unappreciatively, "I wouldn't dare to owe you a favor so easily."

Ling looked at her with amusement: "I'm telling you, I've already saved your life once, isn't that a favor?"

      Fujiwara Chizuru remained silent.

“Oh, I remember now, I was going to ask you that too.” Ling seemed to have discovered something interesting and paced around the policewoman.

“You know perfectly well that the monster’s target is that little boy, right?” Ling glanced at Douzi beside her, her tone gradually becoming more serious, and said, “As long as you keep your distance from them, the suit won’t attack you, right? You’re clearly safe.”

The firelight flickered on Fujiwara Chizuru's glasses, her face expressionless: "Is that so? I forgot."

      Ling's smile blossomed even wider.

"Next time you dare to take such a risk, don't expect me to arrive in time again." Ling twirled her fingers. "Besides, I consider myself your superior, so don't make me worry myself sick over an immature subordinate."

Fujiwara Chizuru couldn't stand her anymore, her expression changed, and despite being a woman, she had a fierce look on her face, saying, "Stop talking nonsense here, I didn't agree to that."

      Ling waved her hand sadly.

Suddenly, a burst of sparks appeared overhead.

When everyone looked up, they could see a huge hole smashed into the tall building in the distance, and the burning object looked bigger and bigger in their pupils.

      "Fall back!"

      "Chizuru Fujiwara shouted."

Of course, by the time she shouted, Yan Wuxun had already run several meters away, one hand holding beans and the other holding a cat.

Ling grabbed the policewoman by the back of her uniform collar, and before she could cry out, she lifted her by the scruff of her neck like a cat, leaped back, lightly touched the ground with her toes, and landed in front of Yan Wuxun and the others.

Flint furniture that had been smashed down was scattered all over the ground.

The Scythe-Winged Demon spread its wings, flapped them, and flew out, the two scythes at the tips of its wings clanging.

At the breached opening, a figure clad in silver armor was hanging in mid-air, clinging to the broken steel bars.

Soon, he pushed off the wall with both legs high in the air, flipped himself back into the building, and moved swiftly, using all four limbs to climb onto the window and maneuver rapidly on the outside of the building.

Behind the Scythe-Winged Demon sat a figure. Fujiwara Chizuru squinted in the firelight, trying to make out the identity.

      "Is that the real culprit?"

Ling curled her lip and said, "Not high enough level, at most she'll just be a scapegoat."

As he spoke, the Scythe-Winged Demon roared with rage, unleashing a torrent of flames that shot down from its height.

The armored figure outside the building leaped forward, avoiding the exploding walls and glass. As it fell, it swooped down, descending about two floors. With a quick grab, it gripped the wall of the external air conditioner unit, lifted itself up, and sprinted upwards along the wall.

Using the momentum, he sprinted along the wall, creating a brief moment of suspended motion. As he caught his breath, he reached out with his right hand and grabbed the iron window grille on the upper floor. The red light attacked him again. He swung his body, gathering momentum with his legs, and used the momentum to dive down, like a taut bow, launching himself at the critical moment when the flames were about to strike, or like a swaying ape, precariously swinging his body across the high-rise building.

I had four rice noodle rolls for supper tonight, all homemade. I feel like I could open my own shop! Let me stand here with my hands on my hips for a moment! (So cocky!)

Thank you to all the lovely people who left comments today!
