Chapter 90, Section 028: Fu Xun

Jin Ziyue glared at him and demanded, "Why are you here?"

The young man's smile grew colder. He made a fist and gestured, saying, "It took me quite a bit of effort to chase you all the way here just to turn your ashes into four-happiness meatballs."

“District 16 is not a place for you.” Jin Ziyue frowned.

"Hey, it's alright, I'll come and collect your body." The young man brought his right index and middle fingers together as if chanting a spell, and the energy of his life-giving words began to surge, with the surrounding flow of fortune rapidly converging on him.

Jin Ziyue lowered his eyes, his expression serious.

"Leave here immediately."

"What, worried that if I die here, it'll be hard to explain to Qin?" The young man rubbed his nose and chuckled. "So, you think it'll be easy to explain to me? Hmm? You bastard?"

He questioned, "I entrusted Qin to you, and what have you done?"

Although the young man was smiling, his overwhelming killing intent surged like a raging flood, wave after wave sweeping towards Jin Ziyue.

Jin Ziyue's face was solemn, and he remained silent.

"I came back after three years of cultivation, and this is all I heard? Qin is dead, you ran away, and our once peaceful life has turned into this?"

The young man sneered, "Thank you so much."

Jin Ziyue stared at him, but didn't say a word.

"Don't you have anything to explain?" the young man asked, looking into his pupils.

"Xun, go back." The man's tone was somewhat weary. "I'd rather you leave this place than accept your help."

Fu Xun jumped up and down: "Who said I was going to help you?"

“Listen, don’t think you’re the only one who can avenge Qin, I can too!” the young man said. “I won’t forgive your dereliction of duty.”

Jin Ziyue did not answer; the man had always remained silent about the topic of young girls.

"I roughly guess what you're up to." Fu Xun glared back and said, "I came all this way not to take my anger out on you, don't you have anything to say?"

Jin Ziyue continued to gaze at him silently. Countless scenes seemed to conjure up in the man's eyes, but upon closer inspection, there was nothing there; they were soft yet empty.

"are you hungry?"

"Damn it." Fu Xun spat angrily.

He withdrew his life force, closed his eyes, rubbed his temples, and looked like he was enduring something.

Tonkotsu ramen.

The man nodded, completely unsuspecting, and turned to leave down the stairs.

Fu Xun half-opened his eyes and glanced at his location. The man had just opened the underground door of the passage, and was walking up it with his hands on the ground. Fu Xun could hear his voice from afar:

"Come up."

Soon, steaming hot ramen was placed on the low table.

The golden-red yolk is embedded in the egg white, and the half-split egg seems ready to ooze oil at any moment. Chopped scallions and shiitake mushrooms are sprinkled on the surface, and the rich aroma of pork bones wafts from the steam of the white broth. Tender pickled radish shreds cover two bites of braised beef.

Fu Xun frowned and placed the empty bowl on the low table with a look of disgust.

The soup that hadn't been finished was shaken twice by his movements.

"It tastes awful," he muttered.

Jin Ziyue didn't say anything, just silently watched him, a rare smile appearing at the corner of his eye.

Where are you staying now?

"Humph, what do you care?"

"If you have nowhere to go, you can stay here for a while. It's my friend's room; he's not coming back from District 9 for the time being."

"Who wants to stay in the room you picked?" Fu Xun asked, sitting cross-legged and turning his head.

"How did you find this place?" The man ignored his awkwardness and got up to take the tableware back to the kitchen.

Fu Xun said, "I naturally have my own methods. After all, I am a genius Fate Master."

“I not only know you’re here, I also know—” Fu Xun drawled, “that you want to make a move on that guy from [Bai Liu Yang Jiu].

Jin Ziyue remained silent, neither confirming nor denying.

"You are collecting pronouncements from over a century ago."

Amidst the swishing sound of running water, Jin Ziyue skillfully washed the dishes and chopsticks.

Aren't you going to tell me about your plans?

“I’ve changed my mind,” Jin Ziyue said. “They seem to have provoked a truly bloodthirsty force.”

"Hmph, I thought you had really changed a lot over the years, but you still can't get rid of this bad habit."

Jin Ziyue lowered his head and did not reply to him immediately.

"I was there when the woman died. It's just that some memories inevitably come back to me."

Fu Xun paused for a moment, then fell into a brief silence.

"So that unfortunate couple made you abandon your original plan to remain undercover and risk exposing yourself to kill that scum?"

"You seem to have just as much intelligence as I do."

"I was just curious about what you were doing. I spent some time learning about that man named Ryoma Ayumu. This kind of thing is a piece of cake for a master detective."

Fu Xunliang showed off his bar certificate: "I just took the exam two months ago. It would be a waste not to show it off."

Jin Ziyue ignored his boasting, glanced at his destiny, and saw a light blue energy emanating from behind Fu Xun in his field of vision.

"A certificate obtained with the promise of 'passing every exam' isn't anything to be proud of."

Fu Xun raised an eyebrow without making a sound.

She had not had any contact with him, nor did she have the ability to use her life-ordaining words. In fact, apart from the fact that she had concealed her aura at the beginning, the man could understand her life-ordaining words almost anytime and anywhere.

monster.

It takes less than a minute to switch between different phrases. Once you come into contact with the phrase and it shows fluctuations, you can guess it nine times out of ten. Furthermore, with the blessing of "always passing exams", you can move forward without hesitation.

But the man did almost nothing, and his fate was laid bare before him, utterly defenseless.

Mentioning one's own strength is a matter of personal dignity and also someone else's privacy, so there's nothing to say about it.

Fu Xun changed the subject: "Since you're going to get involved, what are you planning to do?"

"Give them the intelligence I have."

"Then?"

Jin Ziyue did not answer, because he knew that Fu Xun's words were not a question, but a challenge.

"Sitting on the mountain watching the tigers fight, and reaping the benefits of the fisherman's life?"

Jin Ziyue bent down and silently wiped his dining table.

"You're actually going to help the White Walkers? If the old guys hear about this, they'll tear your tendons out of the water," Fu Xun said, glancing at him.

"There are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests."

"Tch." Fu Xun said noncommittally, "But not every time interests stand on the side of morality."

"I mentioned you to that man named You Dong."

“I know.” Jin Ziyue’s hand continued wiping the rag. “I planted a listening device on him.”

"A vicious man," Fu Xun chuckled.

He looked out the window; the setting sun was slowly sinking, and the city was about to enter night again.

"Fine, consider it payment for this bowl of noodles." Fu Xun stood up, languidly, like a sword returning to its sheath.

"Remember your promise." He looked at the man's busy figure in the kitchen.

"I'm not helping you, I'm just fulfilling her long-cherished wish."

The porcelain bowl in the sink clattered against the metal sheet with a loud thud.

The man remained silent for a moment, frozen in place.

Then, the sounds of running water and wiping with a cloth could be heard.
