Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 695 Harry's New "Sidekick"
Harry noticed that recently, Hogwarts had suddenly seen a lot of strange people. Most of them were young people in their twenties, always dressed in well-fitting, long black suits, and speaking English with a strange rolled "r".
These students, who didn't have to attend classes or complete any homework, were always rushing between the Room of Requirement, the Potions classroom, the Transfiguration classroom, and the new Dark Arts classroom. Sometimes, they would be discussing something at a rapid pace as they walked.
According to Tierra, these people were experimental assistants he had invited from the German Ministry of Magic. They were said to be a group of the most outstanding young talents in the German magical world. Because of the Anglo-German Magical Friendship Treaty, Tierra had specially invited them to Hogwarts for exchange and study. While injecting fresh blood into Hogwarts, he also wanted to work with them to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the principles of magic, thereby promoting the development and progress of magical technology and alchemy, and striving to trigger the first magical revolution.
Hermione seemed excited about the arrival of these people, but Harry had neither the time nor the energy to think about it.
Harry has been quite annoyed lately. He has to do Quidditch training and homework that has become increasingly tedious due to the Tierra Education Reforms. In fact, his real annoyance is that McLean and Brown are now following him everywhere he goes.
Hermione, however, was so excited about the new "young German scholars" that she stayed out all night, exploring the knowledge that Harry could only vaguely understand with them with a kind of persistence and enthusiasm that Harry couldn't comprehend.
And Ron.
Ever since waking up from the effects of the love potion, Ron had kept his distance from Lavender Brown, as if the potion's effects hadn't completely worn off. However, from their nightly bedtime talks, Harry learned that Ron was simply fed up with Lavender Brown's clingy, kissing ways and wanted to find a way to break up with her.
He wasn't sure which of the two was more annoying. McLean kept implying that he should be a better, more consistent, and more professional goalkeeper than Ron, and now Harry realized that McLean was doing this regularly and would definitely continue to do so; he was also always criticizing the other players and providing Harry with detailed training plans, to the point that Harry had been forced to remind him more than once who the captain was.
Meanwhile, Lavender Brown was always around Harry, discussing Ron with him, which Harry found more tedious than McLean's Quidditch lectures.
“I mean, I’m his girlfriend!” Lavender said. “I know he’s been drugged by that bitch’s love potion, but I’m his girlfriend! I read in a book that if the power of love is strong enough, it can resist love potions, but Ron couldn’t resist it!”
Lavender Brown became increasingly hysterical as he spoke.
“It’s obvious he doesn’t love me that much. Maybe I should break up with him, after all, I don’t want to marry a man who doesn’t love me that much,” Lavender Brown said.
“Mmm,” Harry replied dismissively. Unfortunately, she had now decided to forgive Harry for his mistake and was beginning to want to have a deeper conversation with him about Ron’s feelings, a most unfortunate thing that made Harry anything but happy.
“But then I thought about it again,” Lavender Brown said, adopting a gentle, girlish expression, “He was drugged, after all, so let’s forgive him. After all, he was given a love potion.”
"Why don't you talk to Ron about this?" Harry said, exasperated and frustrated. "Maybe if you two have a good talk, your problems can be resolved."
“I can’t do that!” Lavender Brown suddenly said angrily. “You know, this was his fault. If he weren’t so charming, if he hadn’t been eating other people’s chocolates, this would never have happened!”
"So what do you want?" Harry's unspoken message was, how much longer do you want to bother me?
"Hmph, I'm waiting for him to apologize." Lavender Brown raised his head unhurriedly and gave a light snort.
“Then go tell him!” Harry said impatiently.
“Harry, don’t you understand?” Lavender Brown said angrily, seemingly annoyed by Harry’s lack of understanding. “I’m a girl, you know. I can’t just tell him I’m a girl, you understand? I have to wait for Ron to apologize to me before I can make up with him.”
“Alright, alright, um.” Harry didn’t want to waste any more time on Lavender Brown’s unreasonable arguments. “Anyway, sorry, I have to go. McLean is here to talk to me about Quidditch again.”
Harry finished speaking hastily, then ran to the side without looking back, passing through a door and running straight down without caring where it led.
