Why it never ends

Chapter 1215 Assistance

Chapter 1215 Assistance
Gabrielle also heard the laughter from afar. She was tempted to go and see what Lü Qizhen and Chloe were up to, but with Boheng there, she felt embarrassed to just walk away.

Boheng started thinking about how to adjust Jiaheduolei's current state after breakfast. Obviously, there was no better way than to send her back directly.

No matter how good her relationship was with the young girls here, as long as she returned to the mountains, as long as she returned to Manna, Aji, and her relatives and friends, and returned to those arduous labors, Boheng believed that Jiaheduolei would soon be able to correct herself and find her true place.

But Boheng didn't want to be the one to spoil the fun. He pondered how to get Gahodore to agree—or even take the initiative to make the decision.

"Teacher?" Gahodore pointed in the direction of the palace. "Eunice is here!"

Boheng looked up and, sure enough, saw Younis jogging towards them.

It was almost 3:30, and the crowd was gradually approaching from the direction of the palace. Eunice ran far ahead of the main group, clutching the photos in her hand. She had already planned how to tell Boheng the story of the fire and the photos that night on her way back and forth.

“Then, teacher, I’ll go over and see what they’re doing,” Gahodore finally said, pointing to Chloe on the podium. “She’s someone we invited, and I can’t let her break anything here before the event.”

“Go ahead,” Boheng said calmly. As soon as the words left his mouth, Boheng seemed to realize the coldness in his tone. He immediately added a smile and waved to Jiahedore.

Gahodorei's hesitant expression vanished instantly, and she ran confidently toward Chloe.

Soon, even more people arrived.

Boheng listened absentmindedly to Eunice's story about the crowd taking photos amidst the blazing rain and fire; such a story held little interest for him. His gaze searched the crowd—and soon, he spotted Worsander.

“Eunice,” Boheng found an opening in the conversation, “who is that person?”

Eunice looked up: "Ah, didn't the teacher recognize me? That's Wossandra, the one you've met before."

"No wonder, I was wondering why it looked familiar."

“Let me introduce you!” Eunice immediately changed the subject, smiling as she stepped forward to greet and hug Wossandra—just as warmly as she had greeted Polney. The old man patted Eunice on the back. Boheng was quite pleased, thinking that it must be true that Eunice had said earlier that Wossandra could remember her and Gabrielle's names.

With Eunice's introduction, Worsandta chatted briefly with Boheng, and then she followed her sisters to the audience seats.

After living together for so long, most of Wosandta and her friends could easily write their own names, but at this moment, they were still very much enjoying the game of helping each other find seats.

Soon, Lai Lin also appeared nearby. She began to adjust the equipment and quickly found that the microphone had no sound no matter how she tried it. She tried several backup devices, but the result was the same.

With less than half an hour left before the event started, Lai Lin was getting anxious. Then, a piercing noise rang out, and Hazel leaned halfway out from behind the podium: "Are you ready?"

"Ah..." Lai Lin realized, "Is it a problem with the circuit?"

“There’s nothing wrong with the circuit.” Hazel clapped his hands and walked back to his seat. “I saw you were trying for a while and nothing was working, so I went to check in the back. You didn’t turn on the battery switch.”

Lai Lin was taken aback, then burst into exaggerated laughter at her own foolishness. Amidst the clamor, her laughter did not stand out.

Meanwhile, Si Lei also saw Clara watching from afar and went up to greet her: "Won't you come and sit down?"

"Are there any seats?" Clara asked. "I see all the chairs have names on them?" "What's wrong with that?" Sire led Clara to the back of the stands. She found a slightly cleaner spot, brushed off some dust, and sat down on the floor. "Isn't this a good place to sit?"

Clara chuckled and sat down like Sire.

"Where is the Heshtar? The event is starting in fifteen minutes, and she still hasn't shown up?"

“They’re probably still preparing,” Si Lei said. “I’m going to tell you something, but don’t be angry.”

Clara looked at Sire with a mocking expression: "Don't tell me you were the mastermind behind the murders on the farm."

Si Lei let out a light laugh: "If I said I was, would you believe me?"

“I believe you. I believe you were sent by your inspectors to take the blame.”

They both laughed at the same time.

“I looked at your resume… Well, I belong to both the AHgAs and the United Government systems, so I… have this authority.”

Clara narrowed her eyes slightly: "Why are you investigating me for no reason?"

“Last night you said you were willing to accept the loss, and that you could just quit being a policeman. I asked you what was going on, but you wouldn’t tell me. So I have to find the answer myself,” Si Lei said softly. “Tell me about it—it seems like you’ve interned at a lot of companies.”

"Tell me what you found out first."

"Born a commoner, he joined the military police and was seconded to the major crimes unit, where he participated in several major cases. However, he was not promoted and was instead transferred to the public security force to handle market disputes. After less than six months, he was suddenly transferred to the Royal Police force, working under the police inspector—"

“I give up,” Clara said, raising her hands. “So what if you hold a high position and wield great power? I think you inspectors are looking in the wrong direction—”

“This has nothing to do with the murder on the farm, nor with Hershta. I haven’t told her anything about your background, and if you say you don’t want her to know, I won’t say a word,” Si Lei assured him.

She paused for a moment, then added, "...But if she wants to investigate, she should be able to find out."

Clara didn't answer immediately. She looked down and took a cigarette out of her pocket. Just as she was turning on her lighter, Si Lei confiscated the cigarette.

“I’m quitting smoking,” Si Lei said. “Don’t smoke in front of me.”

"Sister," Clara glared at Silei, "what exactly do you want?"

“If you really think I’m in a high and powerful position,” Si Lei said, “why don’t you also believe that I can give you a hand?”

Klar didn't say anything, but simply pushed herself up from the ground and started to leave. But just as she turned around, she stopped in her tracks—two tall figures were walking towards the direction of the farm settlement, one was Hershta, and the other was Victoria.

The two women, dressed in their AHgAs uniforms, walked steadily from another direction.

"They're here," Clara whispered.
