Why it never ends

Chapter 1240 Change

Chapter 1240 Change
“Thank you,” Turan said, “but you can come to me anytime you need me, and if there’s anything I can do for you.”

“Yes, I know,” Hersta said cheerfully.

The two walked a little further.

Has Rico come looking for you?

"Are you talking about joining the Freedom Front?" Hersta asked, and after seeing Turan nod, she added, "No."

“I don’t think she can come either,” Turan said softly. “Her situation is… complicated too.”

"Yes, I understand."

Turan's gaze swept gently over Hester. She sighed, then suddenly opened her arms and hugged Jane tightly. This caught Hester off guard; she paused for a moment before reciprocating by hugging Turan's back as well.

Turan's voice trembled: "If Liz were still here, she would be so happy..."

Hershta blinked very quickly, then gently patted Turan on the shoulder.

Turan released her hand: "I've missed her a lot over the years... I always think of her, many times, as if she had never left, as if... she is still in Tanyi, in Uren, as if I could see her as soon as I fly back."

“…Me too,” Hesta said softly.

Turan took a deep breath, smiled forcefully, and looked at Hester again: "I'm so happy for you, Jane, you've come so far."

……

"What?! You're not coming tomorrow? None of you are coming? Where are you all going?"

In Tiexi's little house, Chloe slammed her hand on the table and stood up, shouting. The whole house seemed to shake. Tiexi frowned and tried to cover her ears, but it was too late. She looked at Chloe sternly and said, "If you keep doing this, you're out."

Chloe immediately jumped a few steps to the side to avoid being caught by Iron.

Today, only she and Tiexi were in the cabin—Eucalypse had gone to the palace to work as a teaching assistant, and Hazel was working at the farm; neither of them had said whether they would come today.

“It’s just a one-day trip to the city to attend a science and technology event,” Tie Xi said. “But we will indeed be leaving in a while.”

"Where to go?"

“Didn’t you go to that speech?” Tess glanced at Chloe. “Hersta said she’s taking a group of people away to the reserve base in the city soon. Eucharie and I will probably go with her, Hazel might stay behind, as for—”

Before Tiexi could finish speaking, she heard footsteps rushing out the door. She turned around and found that Chloe had already run away, and the front door of the house was still open.

Chloe ran all the way back to the palace. She leaped up the steps and rushed toward Lü Qizhen's room, but no matter how much she knocked, no one answered.

She stood at the door for a while, then ran towards Gahodore's room—Gahodore was inside at the moment, and when she saw Chloe rushing in, covered in sweat, she thought something had happened and immediately became tense.

“Gabrielle,” Chloe’s expression was clearly more tense, “are you leaving?”

"Leave?" Gahodore asked, puzzled. "Where to?"

"Move away, go to the city with Hershta—to some kind of base?" "Oh, you mean Mercury Needle's reserve base? Yes," Gahodore nodded, "My duty is to protect Kasyapa—"

"And what about Lü Qizhen?"

“She should be leaving too,” Gahodore thought uncertainly. “She came with Dr. Turan, so she’ll probably be with him too… Chloe, Chloe, where are you going? Chloe?”

Gabrielle chased Chloe out of the room, and seeing that she ran away without looking back, she was puzzled for a moment, but decided to go after her to see what was going on.

She kept a distance of about ten meters and followed Chloe all the way to the garden. When Chloe arrived at the swing set in the center of the flowers, she suddenly covered her face and cried.

Gahodore watched from afar and couldn't help but sigh to herself—she really knows how to find a place to cry, and she cries so beautifully, like in a movie.

Gabrielle walked silently to the grass not far from Chloe and sat down facing her. She looked at Chloe curiously, but the other was so focused on crying that she didn't even look up once.

Gabrielle moved her seat forward slightly, waited a moment, and then moved forward a little more—repeatedly, until she sat down in front of Chloe.

"Good heavens, Miss, please look at me!" Gabrielle patted Chloe's knee impatiently. "Why are you crying? Why are you crying so sadly, huh?"

Chloe didn't want to tell Gahodore that she was crying because of the impending separation; it seemed to make her appear especially weak. She had indeed heard Hester say that she was taking some people away from the farm, but at the time, Chloe hadn't realized what it had to do with her.

She spent the night at Lü Qizhen's place, and the two chatted for a long time. From the city where Lü Qizhen lived as a child to her going to school in the First District alone, to her research, her mentor... Chloe listened with great interest. In return, she talked about her own childhood, her collection, and her love-hate relationship with Sheena.

However, she noticed that whenever she mentioned Xina, Lü Qizhen would become hesitant to speak. Chloe guessed that this might be because Lü Qizhen was not used to talking badly about people behind their backs, so she would intentionally avoid talking about Xina when they continued to chat.

She loved these nights so much, but on the second day of having them, she suddenly realized that everything was already on a countdown!
Chloe's crying gradually subsided, and she finally looked at Gahodorei, her two swollen eyes still wet.

“We’re no longer friends…” Chloe choked out, her sobs making it impossible for Gabrielle to tell whether it was a statement or a question.

"Why?" Gahodorei asked.

“You’re all leaving.” Chloe looked at her. “I…I won’t see you again, I—”

“But I will come to see you. We—me, and Lü Qizhen—will all come to see you,” Gabrielle said. “And you can come to see us too?”

Chloe didn't answer, she just kept shaking her head.

Of course she could go to that base to visit her friends, but how could that be the same? That was Mercury Needle's territory, and she didn't belong there.

Chloe looked towards the garden again, and only then did she belatedly realize how deeply she cherished this farm, this palace, as if no part of her past life could compare to life here. So much so that even before her farm life ended, Chloe had already begun to miss it.

However… strangely enough, wasn’t she a frequent visitor to this farm and this palace in the past? She had ridden between the two countless times in the past, and was so familiar with everything here. This place was nothing more than an extension of some manor, and such manors were everywhere in District Twelve.

Chloe bit her lip, suddenly feeling a vexing sadness.

Ultimately, it's all because of her... she changed everything.

Hersta...
