Why it never ends

Chapter 1241 Travel
That night, Gahodorei packed her luggage.
She had already signed up for the city's science fair this Saturday, thinking it would be a day trip. However, she received a notification in the afternoon that there seemed to be a campsite in the same area specifically for teenagers, with a series of city hiking activities from afternoon to evening. Therefore, the teachers decided to take everyone to spend the night in the city and return by bus the next morning.
Gabrielle packed her things quickly. She had already taken a shower that evening, so she didn't need to bring a change of clothes. She only needed to take some paper, pens, change, a hat, and a water bottle—a small canvas bag was enough to hold everything.
While she was packing her things, Eunice lay on the bed the whole time without saying a word. Gabrielle knew she was awake, but was just pretending to be asleep.
"Hey." After turning off the lights, Gahodore couldn't help but call out to Eunice, "Have you packed everything?"
A faint creaking sound came from the darkness. Eunice seemed to shift her position slightly, and her voice was quick and cold: "I'm not going."
"You're not going?" Gabrielle sat up abruptly. She had been planning to take Eunice to the grand theater they'd visited before if tomorrow's hike was boring. "Why—"
Before she could finish speaking, Gahodore suddenly felt a surge of heat, her face and neck quickly burning up, and the entire room fell silent.
“…I’m sorry,” Gahodore whispered.
In the darkness, no one answered her.
“I shouldn’t… I shouldn’t have said those things to you,” Gahodore continued, forcing herself to finish her sentence. “I shouldn’t have said… you were running around… or anything like that.”
“It has nothing to do with that,” Eunice’s voice remained indifferent. “I just don’t want to go.”
Gahodore was still gazing at Eunice's profile, and a sliver of moonlight from the window gave everything in the room a hazy, misty outline.
"Then what are you going to do here alone tomorrow?" Gahodore whispered. "Or maybe I should—"
“You don’t need to worry about me,” Eunice said. “I’m going to Professor Polny’s tomorrow. I told him I’d be helping him with some work. You’ll have nothing to do if you stay here.”
“Eunice…”
"sleep."
In the darkness, Eunice seemed to turn over, and Gabrielle saw that she had covered her head with the blanket.
Gabrielle sighed and lay down again.
……
The next day, Chloe also appeared in the crowd. She was with Gabrielle and Lu Qizhen as usual. No one was surprised by her joining, but some people were surprised that Eucalyptus also came.
She stayed with Hazel the whole time, looking restless and with a strange expression. The children accepted it well—Eucalypse was one of their favorite teaching assistants, so the trip was a given—but anyone who had experienced the night of the city's terrorist attack understood what this trip meant.
This was the first time Eucalyptus had gone out with the group since she fell ill. Upon receiving the news the day before, she had gone to Xia Yixue to sign up herself, and then returned to the farm to ask Hazel if he would like to spend the day with her; the old man naturally agreed.
As soon as she got on the bus, Eucalyptus realized this might be a terrible decision. The bus was very noisy, with children constantly screaming excitedly, which made Eucalyptus very tired. What frightened her even more was that if something unexpected happened during the trip, she might lose control in front of these children... and she didn't know what she would do if she had a panic attack, which was the most unbearable part.
She sat by the window and soon felt a tightness in her chest. She didn't know if it was psychological or if she was really feeling stuffy. She hoped that Hazel would hold her hand, but the old man seemed to have not slept well last night and dozed off as soon as he got on the bus.
Enda and Zoe sat together in the back of the car with the children and teachers, while Victoria was in another car with the whale people. Sire and Clara sat in front of them, and Sire was explaining to them why these kinds of events were held in the Habitable Land from time to time.
As Eucalyptus listened to the sounds around her, she began to scream inwardly—however, the only good news was that even though she was dancing on the verge of collapse, no one noticed her.
Using her limited rationality, she deduced another fact: if no one noticed her, it meant that her current behavior was still normal.
A moment later, a can of drink was thrust at her from behind, startling Eucalyptus. She looked up in alarm and met Silei's eyes.
"Would you like something to drink? The driver said the air conditioning only comes on after we start driving, and it's a bit stuffy right now. Drinking something cold will make me feel better."
Eucalyptus thanked him softly and then accepted the canned drink.
Si Lei returned to his seat—not far from Eucalyptus.
At that moment, Eucalyptus took a deep breath, sweat beading on her forehead, and she felt her back was soaked...
it's fine.
Eucalyptus closed her eyes because... she felt a little stuffy, but it would be fine once the car started moving. She clutched the drink can tightly in her hand, as if it were her lifeline.
……
Although this technology exhibition is also in the "city center," it is a different "center"—compared to the large square and theater, the surrounding area is mostly an industrial park that is no longer in use and is filled with small startups.
The remaining buildings of the old factory site give this place a unique flavor. As soon as the children got off the bus, they saw several white spherical tents in the distance square. They were so huge that their outer walls were covered with neat, origami-like ridges, as if someone had folded these exhibition halls out of a huge sheet of white paper.
As soon as they got off the vehicle, the whale women immediately took out their baseball caps and pulled them tightly over their heads. They held each other's hands awkwardly, not daring to look up at the eyes of passersby. Hershta walked behind them, chatting quietly with Victoria.
The teachers led the way, guiding everyone across the main road toward the dome-shaped tents. Numerous iron fences enclosed a square area around the plaza to prevent pedestrians from crossing it. Upon closer inspection, it became immediately apparent that the tents were larger than expected, each dome-shaped tent at least eight or nine meters high at its center.
The children's eyes were glued to these amazing temporary structures, and they could only wait anxiously for the security check line to move slowly forward.
"Qiqi!!" As soon as Shiyi entered the exhibition area, she rushed to the nearest tent. She rubbed the outer wall of the "tent" a few times and turned around in surprise, screaming, "Come and touch it! It feels like plastic, but it also feels like iron!"
