Chapter 2305 Target: Bank
The fierce firepower was like an unbreakable steel barrier, suppressing the enemy so they couldn't even raise their heads and could only watch helplessly as Daniel drew closer and closer to the hangar. Each gunshot seemed to declare his defiance and resistance to the enemy, making the conflict even more intense.
Just as Daniel was only three or four meters from the hangar, another SUV sped towards him like a whirlwind. Before the car had even come to a complete stop, the people inside opened fire on Daniel. "Bang bang bang..." A dense barrage of bullets whistled through the air, flying towards Daniel like the Grim Reaper's scythe. Daniel couldn't dodge in time; he stumbled, and a bullet struck his shoulder. His body jolted violently, as if struck by a tremendous force, and blood instantly stained his clothes. Just as he was about to fall to the ground, someone suddenly burst out of the hangar like lightning, so fast that there was almost no time to react. They grabbed Daniel from behind by the back of his collar and neck, quickly pulling him into the hangar. This sudden turn of events made the situation even more complex, and a more intense conflict seemed to be brewing...
Inside the hangar, in the dim light, Daniel and his rescuer were barely visible. Daniel knelt on the ground, blood gushing from a wound on his shoulder, staining the floor red. His rescuer stood beside him, vigilantly watching the movements outside the hangar. Outside, the enemy was regrouping, whispering amongst themselves, preparing for another attack. A life-or-death struggle was about to begin, and everyone was caught in this dark storm, their future uncertain and unpredictable. In this world of intrigue, betrayal, and power struggles, what would become of them? No one knew…
Caught off guard by the sudden tug, Daniel's instinctive crisis response was instantly triggered, like a frightened bird. He struggled involuntarily, kicking his legs wildly and waving his arms frantically, trying to break free from the force binding him. However, Sergei was massive, like a towering mountain, and Daniel appeared as fragile as a vulnerable chick in his presence. Sergei's powerful hands, like iron clamps, easily gripped Daniel firmly, then shoved him behind the box.
Just as Daniel was still reeling from the shock, Long Zhan, Norman, and Chetri's group suddenly appeared in his line of sight. Like ghosts emerging from the darkness, they sprang from the hangar, their guns spitting fire with deafening roars as they unleashed a furious barrage of shots at the enemy. The dense gunfire mingled together, like a stirring battle hymn or the merciless roar of death. This sudden scene instantly snapped Daniel back to reality. Although his mind was filled with questions about their identities and motives, he knew that their actions were undoubtedly a way to save him, far better than recklessly venturing out and being riddled with bullets.
"Return to the evacuation point." Inside and outside the hangar, the gunfight had reached a fever pitch. Bullets flew like locusts, and for a short time, both sides were locked in a stalemate, neither able to break through the other's defenses. Colonel Ke Chuan, with his keen eyes, quickly assessed the situation and decisively ordered a retreat. After all, their core objective for this operation—capturing Daniel—had been successfully achieved.
Long Zhan moved with incredible agility, like a fierce cheetah, using his astonishing strength to charge towards a barrel full of gasoline. With a powerful push, the barrel tipped over like a wild horse, and then he gave it another push, sending it rolling rapidly outwards.
"Retreat! Move!" After the oil drums had rolled a dozen or twenty meters away, Long Zhan shouted at the top of his lungs. His voice resounded like a great bell all around. At the same time, he raised his gun and fired wildly at the oil drums that were still rolling forward.
With a deafening roar, the oil drum exploded upon impact, sending flames soaring into the sky like a ferocious fire dragon. The blasted fuel sprayed out like petals, scattering in all directions and engulfing an area of twenty meters in the blink of an eye, forming a massive, raging inferno. The flames, like the gaping maw of a demon, devoured everything in their path, billowing smoke blotting out the sun. The two opposing sides were forcibly separated by this sudden burst of fire; the intense heat and acrid smoke created a blinding haze, making it impossible for either side to see clearly.
Taking advantage of the excellent cover provided by the explosion, Long Zhan and his group immediately retreated rapidly towards the back of the hangar. Sergei, like an eagle snatching a chick, steadily carried Daniel and, under the close protection of the others, retreated in an orderly manner.
"The vehicle will arrive in two minutes. Just cooperate and we'll treat your wounds." Colonel Ke Chuan led his team away quickly, then turned to Daniel, who was injured in the abdomen and struggling to walk, and whispered words of comfort, trying to keep him calm.
"Could you stop the car a little closer?" Daniel clutched his wound tightly, the excruciating pain making him complain, his voice filled with agony and helplessness. Every step he took after being injured felt like a sharp blade twisting painfully in his wound, the agony almost unbearable.
"If you're so capable, then don't get shot," Noven retorted mercilessly. He hadn't given Daniel a friendly look from the start, and his tone was even more unfriendly now.
Soon, the group arrived at the back of the hangar and entered a room that was fairly spacious. They quickly settled Daniel into a chair, while Chetri alertly used a cabinet to firmly block the valves in case of any potential danger.
"Where do you hide your weapons?" Long Zhan stared at Daniel with a serious expression, asking directly and bluntly, his eyes revealing an undeniable aura.
“Those thugs from the Damach family used all sorts of violent means to coerce me, but I gritted my teeth and didn’t tell them. Why do you think I should tell you?” Daniel leaned back in his chair, his face showing stubbornness and resentment, and responded without showing any weakness.
“To protect yourself, you are now seriously injured. If you don’t receive proper treatment in time, you won’t last long,” Colonel Ke Chuan said solemnly and in a steady tone, trying to make Daniel clearly understand his current precarious situation.
“You will die from blood loss in fifteen minutes,” Chetri added coldly from the side, her voice as icy as ice, carrying a ruthless certainty.
"Did you read a big dictionary on your way here?" Despite being in danger, Daniel remained defiant, unable to resist making sarcastic remarks in an attempt to mask his inner fear.
“That’s the formal language for dying from bloodshed,” Chetri replied calmly, his expression still serene, seemingly unconcerned by Daniel’s sarcasm. “You’re too late. If I had cooperated willingly, that would have been best, but if I don’t, they’ll definitely find another way.” Daniel sighed helplessly, a hint of worry on his face, as if he were weighing something in his mind.
"What are they planning to do?" Colonel Ke Chuan keenly sensed the seriousness of the situation and pressed for an answer, his eyes fixed on Daniel, trying to glean more crucial information from his expression.
“They’re obsessed with getting the weapons codes, and they’ll stop at nothing to get them,” Daniel said, his voice trembling slightly, clearly still shaken by the methods those people used.
……
Meanwhile, in Bloor, Albania, everything seemed normal inside the Northern Bank, a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere pervading the air. Rorik, carrying a shoulder bag, walked with seemingly casual yet cautious steps, slowly pushing open the door and entering the sparsely populated bank. He went straight to the counter on the right, pretending to need to conduct business, exchanging brief words with the teller, but his eyes inadvertently scanning his surroundings. In the waiting area of the lobby, Zaev, wearing a baseball cap, sat silently, his eyes slightly lowered beneath the brim, seemingly resting, but actually secretly observing every move around him, a barely perceptible tension and anticipation flickering in his eyes.
As the clock struck four in the afternoon, the tranquility of the bank was shattered. A group of robbers wearing barracuda hats, carrying backpacks, and clutching weapons rushed into the bank with the speed and ferocity of ghosts. Upon entering, they roared at everyone, "Get down!" Their voices echoed like thunder in the bank lobby, filled with threat and intimidation. Under the forceful coercion of these robbers, the few customers in the bank panicked instantly, their faces turning deathly pale. Like frightened lambs, they obediently crouched down, covering their heads. Zaev and Rorik did the same, obediently crouching down with perfectly convincing expressions of terror on their faces.
These robbers were clearly repeat offenders, extremely adept at the procedures for robbing a bank. Upon entering, they swiftly and methodically split into three groups. One group stood guard outside, armed and vigilant, watching the customers crouching on the floor to prevent any resistance or escape. Another group rushed at the security guard, pointing a weapon at his head and forcibly threatening him to open the door. They then quickly took control of the entire bank's security system, seizing control of the surveillance cameras and alarm systems. The third group roughly subdued the bank's lobby manager, holding a gun to his back and forcing him to the vault at the back. Under their methodical and highly skilled operation, the entire bank was completely overrun and under the robbers' control in a very short time. The bank's previous tranquility was shattered, replaced by an atmosphere of tension and fear.
The robbers then herded all the customers into the inner rooms like sheep. During this process, Rorek and Zaev cleverly used the chaos to slip away from the group unnoticed. They moved with the lightness of two nimble cats, silently slipping into a side corridor and heading in another direction inside the bank. Strangely, the robbers seemed not to notice them, not stopping Rorek and Zaev, but continuing with their tasks as if their departure was part of their plan.
Meanwhile, the battle at the hangar entered its next phase. Long Zhan and his group stopped interrogating Daniel and instead carefully led him out the back door, into a derelict aircraft parking lot overgrown with weeds. An air of decay and decay permeated the place; the wreckage of abandoned planes peeked through the weeds, seemingly telling tales of past glory and present desolation.
"No, I can't, I can't walk anymore." Daniel clutched his injured stomach, his face ashen, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, his lips trembling slightly with pain. He weakly leaned against the abandoned plane beside him, groaning in agony, unable to take another step. Judging from his appearance, it was clearly not an act; he was genuinely tormented by the pain and unable to continue.
"Boss, this old bastard can't walk anymore." Sergei immediately reported to Colonel Ke Chuan upon seeing this, his voice tinged with anxiety.
"I'll go get the car." Before Colonel Ke Chuan could speak, Norman volunteered and jogged ahead, his steps firm and swift.
“Okay, I’ll cover you.” Sergei, worried about Noven’s safety, didn’t hesitate to jog over to Noven’s side, his eyes revealing both vigilance and concern. Noven smiled gratefully and bumped fists with Sergei; a tacit understanding was reached between them without words.
“Without us, you would surely die.” Colonel Ke Chuan stood guard beside Daniel and said coldly, his eyes fixed on Daniel as if emphasizing their current predicament.
"OK, the gun is hidden in the container. We need a code to find its exact location." To save his life, Daniel finally relented and had to reveal more information, his voice filled with helplessness and resentment.
"If you want to live, hand over the password obediently." Colonel Ke Chuan said coldly, his eyes fixed on Daniel like sharp blades, not allowing him to hide anything. His eyes seemed to be warning Daniel that he had no room for bargaining.
……
At the bank, a "beep" sounded as the access card was verified, and the iron door slowly opened with a dull thud. It was a windowless iron room, giving off a depressing and eerie feeling. In the center of the room stood a stainless steel table, reflecting a cold gleam under the dim yellow light. All four sides were lined with combination lock safes, like silent guardians protecting unknown secrets. The only light came from a wall lamp, its dim yellow light flickering in the room, as if it might go out at any moment, further adding to the eerie atmosphere. (End of Chapter)
