Chapter 2306 Internal and external cooperation

Rorek entered the room, opened the backpack he had brought, and gently placed it on the iron table in the middle of the room. As he took things out, his movements appeared methodical, but he was actually extremely nervous, and he asked, "Why do you need weapons?"

"My village was massacred twenty-five years ago, a horrific tragedy. Perhaps I wanted to repay them in kind. To launch simultaneous attacks in major cities, to indiscriminately fire into their familiar streets, to leave their loved ones lying dead in the streets, to let them taste that despair and pain. Of course, it's also possible that I simply like guns." Zayev spoke of these chilling acts of terror without any change in expression, his tone as calm as if he were recounting something mundane, as if those lives were as insignificant as ants in his eyes.

As Rorik listened to Zaev's words, he carefully assembled the device he had taken out onto the safe. His expression changed slightly, and a barely perceptible look of shock and worry flashed in his eyes. But he didn't say anything more. Instead, he took a deep breath, decisively pressed the remote control, and activated the device.

"Squeak..." The device activated, emitting a sharp, piercing sound, like a demon's groan, as it began to cut open the safe door. The sound echoed in the silent room, like the footsteps of death, drawing ever closer to the unknown secret, making one's heart leap into their throat, as if something terrible would happen at any moment...

Banks, as symbols of wealth and security, are renowned for their rigorous and comprehensive security measures. Every line of defense and every facility here is meticulously designed and reinforced. The safes standing in the vaults resemble incredibly sturdy steel fortresses, exuding a heavy and cold aura. Their materials are exceptionally tough, and the welding techniques are superb. Forcibly welding them open is no easy task; it would require a significant amount of time, as well as numerous specialized tools and techniques.

On the other side, in that abandoned aircraft parking lot, an atmosphere of antiquity and desolation permeated the air. Rusty aircraft wreckage lay scattered haphazardly, overgrown with weeds that seemed to want to reclaim the area from nature's embrace. Novin and Sergei, like two hunters lurking in the darkness, cautiously crept to the outermost edge. They pressed themselves tightly against the fuselage of an abandoned aircraft; its outer shell was mottled, the paint peeling away to reveal rusty metal beneath.

"Any discoveries?" Sergei asked in a low voice, trying not to make too much noise. His eyes were as sharp as a hawk's, trying to catch every subtle movement and anomaly in the dim environment, not letting go of any clue that might hide danger.

“No, it’s safe ahead for now,” Noven replied softly, his voice as low as a breeze rustling through the grass. He then gripped his gun tightly and slowly moved outwards, his steps light and cautious, each step seemingly testing the ground. However, after only two steps, his wolf-like eyes instantly detected something amiss. His body stiffened abruptly, and he quickly gestured for Sergei to stop, lowering his voice to a whisper, “Wait, there are people ahead.”

Following the direction Noven pointed, two armed men could be seen cautiously emerging from around the corner. They wore dark combat uniforms, their clothes covered in dust and stains, as if they had just endured a long journey. Their steps were light and steady, yet imbued with a high degree of vigilance and caution, their eyes scanning their surroundings like venomous snakes. They gripped their guns tightly, muzzles slightly lowered, ready to fire swiftly at any moment in the event of danger. They were slowly approaching Noven and Sergei, each step seemingly treading on their heartbeats.

"Enemy encountered in the northeast corner." Noven immediately reported this emergency to Colonel Ke Chuan accurately via the communication device. At the same time, he quickly and skillfully assumed a fighting stance, his feet slightly apart, knees slightly bent, body weight lowered, and his eyes revealing determination and courage, like a cheetah about to pounce on its prey.

"This is your responsibility." Colonel Ke Chuan made a decisive decision on the other end of the communication device, quickly making arrangements. He instructed Chetri to stay behind to liaise with Daniel and ensure that crucial information was obtained from Daniel. He himself, along with Long Zhan, ran swiftly towards the northeast corner like the wind. Their steps were rapid yet steady, each step full of power, demonstrating the competence and decisiveness of soldiers in the face of crisis.

Upon receiving the order, Chett didn't hesitate for a moment. She swiftly and deftly retrieved a small military computer from her backpack. Placing the computer in front of Daniel, her tone serious and brimming with undeniable urgency, she said, "What's the password? Enter it here."

Just as Daniel began entering his password, the situation on Norman's side became increasingly dire.

"Two, no, three more, damn it, a whole bunch of them!" Noven cursed under his breath, his eyes wide with fear and anxiety as he watched a massive horde of people steadily approach. They were like a black tide, densely packed and stretching as far as the eye could see. The weapons in their hands gleamed coldly in the sunlight, like countless eyes of death, watching Noven and Sergei with predatory intent.

“We only have twenty seconds. We must strike before they do.” Although Sergei felt the immense pressure, he remained calm. His mind raced, quickly analyzing the situation, making a decisive decision, and speaking with unwavering conviction.

"Take them down." Noven wasn't one to back down; his inner courage and fervor ignited instantly. Without hesitation, he launched the first attack, raising his gun sharply, aiming precisely at his first target, and pulling the trigger without a second thought. A crisp, loud gunshot echoed through the silent, abandoned airport, and a man with a gun was struck. His body swayed like a kite with a broken string before crashing heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. However, this action thoroughly enraged the other militants. They quickly raised their guns and returned fire, and a fierce gunfight erupted, bullets whistling through the air like meteors.

"Private First Class, retreat, quickly!" On the other side, Colonel Ke Chuan, who had originally prepared for a direct confrontation with the enemy, saw that the number of enemies far exceeded his expectations and inwardly cried out in alarm. He knew that engaging the enemy head-on at this moment would be tantamount to throwing an egg against a rock, and was by no means a wise move. So, he hurriedly ran back, with Long Zhan following closely behind him. Both of them had solemn expressions on their faces, their steps hurried, racing against time to get back.

Chetley immediately realized the urgency of the situation and, without saying a word, quickly put the small computer into her bag and prepared to help Daniel leave this dangerous place.

"I'll do it." At the crucial moment, Long Zhan displayed astonishing strength and responsibility. Like a tiger descending a mountain, he rushed forward in a single stride. Facing Daniel, who weighed over 100 pounds, he effortlessly lifted him with one hand, as if Daniel were merely an insignificant toy. Daniel, who required two people to carefully support him to move, seemed so effortless in Long Zhan's hands, as if he were lifting only a feather.

To the southeast, Sergei and Noven were still engaged in fierce fighting with the enemy, providing crucial cover for the group's evacuation. The dense gunfire, like popping beans, was incessant, deafening everyone. The two sides traded blows, neither giving an inch, the air thick with the acrid smell of gunpowder and the tense atmosphere. Each shot was accompanied by a flash of sparks and a cloud of dust. Chetri knew the situation was urgent and that Daniel might not be able to leave safely. Therefore, she decided to obtain the password first, ensuring she had the key information for the mission. She took out the computer again, handed it to Daniel, who was being carried by Long Zhan, and said in a serious and urgent tone, almost shouting, "Enter the rest of the password, quickly!"

Daniel knew his life was entirely in the other person's hands, and if he didn't want to be abandoned, he had no choice but to cooperate. He endured the excruciating pain in his abdomen, his facial muscles contorted with agony. He struggled to reach out his trembling hand to type the password on the computer, but due to his severe injury, his movements were extremely slow, and each keystroke seemed to require all his strength.

"What's the situation on your end?" Sergei, who was engaged in fierce fighting with the enemy ahead, took a brief break to change his magazine and shouted to Noven. His voice was somewhat muffled by the hail of bullets, but Noven could still barely hear him.

"Ten more are coming," Noven replied helplessly, his tone revealing a hint of exhaustion and anger. Faced with the relentless surge of enemies, he felt as if he were trapped in an endless nightmare, and could only bury his head in the fight, praying that he could escape this predicament as soon as possible.

……

Meanwhile, inside the bank vault, the atmosphere became unusually tense and oppressive, as if an invisible hand was tightly gripping everyone's throat.

“Rorik, I understand,” Zaev said suddenly, his voice low and icy, as if it came from the depths of hell. His eyes held a mysterious and unfathomable quality, making it impossible to discern what secret he knew.

"What do you know?" Rorek asked casually as he focused intently on opening a treasure chest, his hands busy on the lock and taking things out. His attention was mostly on the contents of the chest, and he didn't realize the deeper meaning in Zaev's words.

"My brother told me a lot about your father before he died. The people he worked for provided him with funds and intelligence, all the useful information, including the fact that you made a deal with the British army and betrayed your father." Zaev's words were incredibly bombarding, like a heavy bomb, instantly creating a storm in Rorek's mind. Rorek's body stiffened abruptly, his nimble hands freezing in mid-air, as if he had been frozen in place. His face turned deathly pale, his eyes filled with terror and panic.

“You’re talking nonsense.” Rorek forced a calm demeanor, trying to hide his inner turmoil. He turned his head and said angrily, his voice trembling slightly. With that, he drew his pistol with lightning speed and pointed it at Zayev. His finger gripped the trigger tightly, his arm trembling slightly, revealing his extreme unease.

Seeing this, Zayev quickly raised his hands, but his face still maintained a semblance of composure. He changed his approach and said, "You don't need to hide these things..."

"Stop talking, shut up." Rorek was completely broken down, unable to control his emotions any longer. He lunged forward, pressed the gun against Zaev's chin, and slammed him against the wall. His eyes were wide like saucers, filled with anger and fear, like a wild beast cornered.

“We both killed our loved ones. You killed your father, and I killed my brother. This is a good thing. Once you lose your attachments, you have no weaknesses, and you will be invincible, destroying everything…” Zaev, a master of psychological warfare, delivered a persuasive speech, attempting to soothe Rorek’s emotions. His voice was deep and seductive, as if possessing an invisible magic, trying to penetrate the depths of Rorek’s heart.

"How could this be a good thing?" Rorek released Zaev and slammed the gun down on the table. His body went limp, as if it had lost its support. His face showed pain and confusion, his eyes were empty, as if he had lost his soul.

"Is everything settled?" Zaev leaned calmly against the wall, asking casually. A hint of smugness flashed in his eyes, as if everything was under his control.

"Got the container combination, that's enough." Rorek quickly packed up his things on the table, preparing to leave this troublesome place. His movements were somewhat flustered, clearly not yet fully recovered from the emotional turmoil he had just experienced.

Zayev took out his phone and sent a message to the robbers outside.

After the two sides completed their coordination, Zayev and Rorik walked out of the vault. (End of Chapter)
