Chapter 882 Heavenly Court Invades the Underworld
Faced with this provocation from Demon Lord Chonglou, Ksitigarbha remained unmoved, and even Di Ting did not stand up.
With the matter settled, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva felt no further anger.
Regardless of how weak the Demon Lord Chonglou may think Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is, his composure and decisiveness truly deserve the name of a Bodhisattva.
Knowing that he was no match for the other side on his own and that negotiations would fail, he did not resist. Even if he was humiliated, he did not get angry or have any rash thoughts.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, holding a precious jewel, stood up from the thousand-petaled lotus platform: "Amitabha, this humble monk will now leave hell."
"However, let me let you all know that your opponent has never been this humble monk!"
Prince Zhang's expression changed, and he thought to himself, "This is bad!" He immediately summoned the white spear and whip from his waist and shouted:
"Stop him quickly!"
Two crimson flames intertwined and spiraled out from beside Prince Zhang, faster than lightning.
Before Prince Zhang could finish speaking, the crimson flames had already reached the side of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
However, the powerful strike launched by Demon Lord Chonglou using the Flaming Wave Twin Blades failed to penetrate even a foot into the body of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
Demon Lord Chonglou, a descendant of the Divine Emperor Shennong of the Immortal Sword, is the first person after Nuwa, Shennong, and Fuxi. He is only one step away from becoming a Great Luo Golden Immortal in the Black Myth world. In his hand is the divine weapon, the Flame Wave Twin Blades, forged from the spring soul of the Immortal Sword Treasure, Nine Springs Flame Wave.
Even so, they couldn't break through Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's defenses.
That seemingly simple defense was like an insurmountable chasm, turning what was close at hand into an insurmountable distance, making it impossible to reach.
Calm and still as the earth, deep and secret as a hidden treasure.
By remaining steadfast and still, one gains the continuous power of the earth; by meditating deeply, one uncovers the hidden power within the soul.
The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's "Ten Stages of Ksitigarbha Sutra" may not be as mysterious, difficult to understand, obscure, profound, or omnipotent as the "Ten Powers of the Tathagata".
However, the Ksitigarbha Ten Stages Sutra also has its unique aspects.
It is a book of idealistic principles.
The Mind-Based Method states that as long as your will is firm, your power is indestructible; as long as your belief remains unchanged, your energy is inexhaustible.
The secret shield erected by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has little to do with his cultivation and magical power, but is only related to his intention and Zen mind.
A Zen mind that is calm and unwavering can bear all things like the earth; a Zen mind that is deep and meditative can unearth inexhaustible power.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva may appear weak, but in reality, it is merely a concession made after careful consideration.
However, this does not mean that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is weak. He is one of only four Bodhisattvas on Mount Ling, whose status is higher than that of ordinary Buddhas.
As the flames dissipated, roc wings sprouted from his back, and the Flame Wave Twin Blades were drawn from his wrists. Demon Lord Chonglou was fully armed; this was the first time he had encountered such an opponent.
Although his first attack failed, it did not bring him frustration, but rather excitement.
Demon Lord Chonglou sharpened his twin swords until sparks flew, and laughed wildly, "Not bad, that's more like it!"
"Come again!"
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva still held the Mani jewel, with a smile on his face: "Amitabha, benefactor, do not be impatient. As I have said, your enemy is not me."
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva raised his hand holding the Mani Jewel, from which a slender red thread grew, rising gently like a wisp of smoke and reaching into the distant, unknown void.
They still couldn't stop them.
That red line can only be seen by Prince Zhang, who has cultivated the Ten Powers of the Tathagata; neither Marshal Tianpeng (Pigsy) nor Demon Lord Chonglou can see it. It's not that Prince Zhang's cultivation is higher than theirs, but simply that their cultivation focuses on different aspects.
That red line is none other than the karmic line of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
But Lingshan is already dead, so where will his causal threads extend?
Prince Zhang had already guessed the answer to the question.
Considering what Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva said earlier, the answer is not hard to guess.
Besides the Heavenly Court, where else could they find a second option? Only the Heavenly Court could convince Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva that they could defeat Flower Fruit Mountain.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva used his other hand to pull the causal thread. As the causal thread jumped, it was like a fishing line skimming across a lake, creating ripples in space.
Unlike a fishing line, the other end of the causal line is not a big fish, but a fully armed Heavenly Army that has been waiting in full battle.
The former Marshal Tianpeng picked up his nine-toothed rake, his expression complicated: "Heh, all the people who have come are old acquaintances. Oh, even the eight of you have been dragged over."
He was an old acquaintance of the original Chunyang Emperor, as well as the Zhengyang Patriarch Han Zhongli and Tieguai Li. Most of the remaining members of the Eight Immortals became immortals during the Song Dynasty.
Pigsy can be considered their senior.
Gouchen the Great, the four departments of thunder, fire, plague, and war, Doumu Yuanjun, the four great celestial masters, Erlang Shen leading the six brothers of Meishan, and even the Eight Immortals, who were originally considered idle immortals, were brought over.
The Pure Yang Patriarch Lü Dongbin, the Supreme Disciple Tieguai Li, the Zhengyang Patriarch Han Zhongli, the Donkey-Riding Immortal Zhang Guolao, the Luofu Immortal He Xiangu, the Begging Immortal Lan Caihe, the White Crane Immortal Han Xiangzi, and the last of the Eight Immortals Cao Guojiu.
Although the Eight Immortals do not hold any official positions in the Heavenly Court and rarely report to the Heavenly Court on a daily basis, they are indeed eight Taiyi Golden Immortals, each with extraordinary cultivation. In particular, the Pure Yang Sword Immortal Lü Dongbin and the Supreme Disciple Tieguai Li are of extraordinary origin and have superb skills.
The fact that the Heavenly Court summoned them back shows that they are truly serious.
At the same time, it also shows that without the Ziwei Beiji lineage, the Heavenly Court is indeed facing a shortage of manpower.
Upon seeing the enemy army filling the sky, Prince Zhang sighed slightly: "Bodhisattva, you had already pledged allegiance to the Heavenly Court before we arrived."
It is obvious that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva had long since pledged allegiance to the Heavenly Court, which is why the Heavenly Court was able to gather its forces so quickly, and why Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was able to use the causal link to pull the Heavenly Court's people over.
To execute this plan, relying solely on Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is insufficient.
The line has two ends, and the other end also needs the assistance of a practitioner of the law of cause and effect who can see and touch the line.
Prince Zhang looked at the enemy army, but did not see that familiar face: "Since Guanyin Bodhisattva helped, why doesn't she show herself!"
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva smiled and said, "Amitabha, we two Buddhists are not in a position to interfere in the cause and effect between you and the Heavenly Court, so we shall take our leave now."
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva rode on Di Ting, his figure slowly fading away, eventually turning into a wisp of water and disappearing without a trace, thus retiring after accomplishing his mission.
'Hmph, afraid of becoming a sacrifice in the hands of the Heavenly Court, making it sound so noble. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva certainly inherited the true essence of Vulture Peak in this regard.'
Prince Zhang sneered inwardly, and then Chu Bai's spear and whip hummed.
'I intended to keep the enemy out of the underworld, but I didn't expect the Heavenly Court to find a loophole.'
Compared to the Heavenly Court's millennia-long development, Flower Fruit Mountain's foundation is still far too weak.
The Heavenly Court would come to the aid of the Underworld sooner or later; this was something that Sun Wukong and Prince Zhang had already anticipated before the battle.
However, their original plan was to choose the location for stationing the enemy after occupying the Underworld, so as to avoid causing great damage to the Underworld.
They already considered the underworld as their own, and when formulating their plans, their first thought was not how to occupy the underworld, but how to govern it after they had occupied it.
