Chapter 2412 (4)

I told my family I would give them the money I promised, and they agreed. A few days later, I went to the bank and transferred the money to them. They were quite happy about it and said they would use it for now and make further arrangements in a few months.

At the end of the Year of the Rabbit, the author bought a Moon Porcelain White phone. The price was only slightly less than 200 yuan cheaper than when it was first released. It was a few months later, not the latest model. The online seller included a phone holder and wireless sports headphones as free gifts. There was a coupon, but it wasn't used because it was expired. After receiving and using the product, the quality was acceptable, so it didn't matter.

The author insisted that the family buy a new tablet, but this was delayed for several months. The tablet was finally purchased during the Lunar New Year, costing several hundred yuan more than expected. There were no price discounts, but the seller included a Bluetooth keyboard, wireless headphones, a tablet case, and a tempered glass screen protector as freebies. Apparently, the original price of these freebies was nearly a thousand yuan, so it was acceptable since they didn't have to buy the accessories themselves. During special sales promotions, the freebies offered by the seller were fewer.

The remaining two thousand yuan remained unspent, so I kept quiet and didn't buy an e-reader or a pearl necklace. There was nothing I could do. Some time later, the money given to my father was used to buy a tablet computer, which cost over a thousand yuan, with my mother contributing some money.

Later, the author spent her own money—seven or eight hundred yuan—on a pearl necklace, a mother-of-pearl pendant, and a silver bracelet with a lucky horse design—but her family didn't like them, considering them low- to mid-range, and they didn't want to spend money on better jewelry. Although she went to the mall several times to look at items, such as a gold necklace with 18-carved pearls and a starry sky design, she didn't buy it. During the Year of the Dragon, such a necklace, after a discount, only cost a little over two thousand yuan. If she had bought it during the Year of the Horse, similar items might not have been available for over four thousand yuan.

I remember in 2021, my workplace gave me a subsidy of 6,500 yuan. My husband took out 3,000 yuan to buy a new mobile phone for the family, and later, a new tablet computer. Neither of those electronic products were things the family had initially wanted, but they lasted quite a while and were still quite useful.

The author bought a porcelain white phone at the end of that year and is still using it. The screen is relatively easy on the eyes and it can be fully charged in half an hour.

In the story of Xinglian, the author repeatedly complained about the slow charging speed of mobile phones. He mentioned that several phones he used took varying charging times, from four hours to an hour and a half, then over two hours (the battery capacity was 4500 mAh, higher than the previous generation). Finally, at the end of 2023, he got a phone that charged quite quickly, fully charging in about half an hour, still with a 5000 mAh battery. Newer phones in the Year of the Snake and Year of the Horse had battery capacities that increased by tens of percent, even doubling, but charging times were still significantly longer.
