The trials of the world are of two kinds: hard walls and soft nails.

Both are the constant ways in which heaven and earth refine the mind and sift the nature; they are inherently neither good nor evil, but rather people bring about their own karma.

A hard wall is a clear and unyielding rule in the world.

The levels of cultivation, class barriers, gains and losses, and victories and defeats are all predetermined and clearly defined. Insufficient strength leads to defeat, and inadequate action leads to loss. This is a training ground for people's practical abilities and resilience under pressure.

"Soft nails" refer to the hidden flaws and undercurrents in human relationships.

Ambiguous distance, subtle rejections, clashes between social circles, and emotional entanglements—there are no direct setbacks or substantial injuries, yet they slowly drain one's energy and cause prolonged internal friction, specifically testing one's character and wisdom in recognizing people.

Men and women have different priorities in their relationships.

When a man enters the world, he often faces hard walls. He establishes himself and his career through hard work. Success and failure are obvious. He can break through these barriers by improving himself and is less bound by false emotions.

Women often face numerous obstacles in life, and their relationships and interpersonal connections are often fraught with subtlety and ambiguity. There are no straightforward rights and wrongs, only endless emotional turmoil, which is the most challenging for their character.

There is a common problem in the world, which stems from double standards.

People often use subtle criticism to choose their partners, and use ambiguity and caution as a measure of self-protection; when they encounter indifference and distance from others, or when others are polite and self-restrained, they become resentful and criticize them for being fickle and shallow.

People in high positions have a broad vision and a noble mind. They tend to have boundaries in their interactions with others and are often cautious in their actions.

Its calm and detached demeanor is a test of the heart, not a deliberate manipulation. The shallow do not understand the great principles; when they lose control, they leave in a huff, boasting of their integrity, but in reality, they are driven by insatiable selfishness and narrow-mindedness.

Everyone knows the advantages and disadvantages of rules, yet they still cling to scheming, seeking personal gain and lightly harming others. Over time, sincerity is obscured, and honesty becomes difficult to maintain; the kind-hearted gradually drift away, leaving only calculation and internal strife.

Ultimately, their mindset and outlook are not commensurate with their desired circumstances, leaving them trapped in their predicament and unable to achieve lasting stability.

The difficulties one encounters in life can be divided into two categories: one is the real-world hurdles, and the other is the unpleasant and tedious things that arise from interpersonal relationships.

Both of these are meant to temper a person; they are neither inherently good nor bad. How you end up depends entirely on how you conduct yourself.

First, let's talk about the hard walls: these are the rules and difficulties that are out in the open.

Making money, making a living, and competing all depend on hard skills; whether you're capable or not is immediately obvious. If you lack skills, you'll run into obstacles; if you put in the effort, you can overcome them.

These difficulties are painful in the present moment, but they can be resolved by enduring them and improving oneself. Men spend most of their lives dealing with these kinds of problems, and are rarely tormented by interpersonal relationships.

Then there's the "soft nail": it's hidden in interpersonal relationships and dating. It won't make you suffer losses or money, but it keeps you hanging on, being hot and cold, speaking ambiguously, neither directly refusing nor agreeing, slowly wearing you down.

Women are most likely to encounter this kind of situation, especially when looking for a partner, and they are most likely to get mentally exhausted by this tug-of-war.

Many people in reality have double standards: they keep their suitors hanging on and maintain an ambiguous relationship with them, claiming it's a careful assessment; but when others treat them the same way, and are a little cold and distant, they immediately get angry and blame the other person for not being sincere.

People with better qualifications are less likely to be overly enthusiastic or ingratiating. They tend to keep their distance and take things slowly, intending to gradually select reliable individuals.

Many people are used to taking control of their relationships, and once they lose the upper hand, they immediately storm off in a huff, thinking they are very principled. To put it bluntly, they can't stand being treated the same way.

Even though they know it's wrong, they still try to be clever, take advantage of others, and exploit their relationships.

Over time, honest people gradually drift away, leaving only those who scheme against each other.

If one's vision and mindset cannot keep up with the life one desires, and one repeatedly falls into the same emotional and interpersonal traps, then a stable and happy life will naturally elude one.
