Chapter 91: Hole in the Hole
Unable to deduce anything, Wu Xiaoxie paid no attention to the bronze plate, while Lao Yang carefully wiped the blood off it and stuffed it into his pocket.

It's not good to just leave this nameless thing lying around like this; it's kind of creepy.

So Wu Xiaoxie and Lao Yang worked together to push him into the deep pit he had fallen into earlier, out of sight, out of mind.

After finishing, Wu Xiaoxie finally had time to ask Lao Yang, "Where did you go before? I saw the fork in the road and thought you went in here. I shouted until my voice cracked but you didn't respond."

Lao Yang asked in confusion, "A mark? What mark? I heard your screams and thought you were in danger, so I followed the trail."

“You’ve made too much noise. That thing must be the same one we ran into before. It probably came here because of the noise,” Lao Yang said.

Wu Xiaoxie reluctantly agreed with this explanation and refocused his attention on the coffin that had made the sound earlier.

Lao Yang also noticed the coffin, leaned over for a look, and was about to crawl into the gap.

Wu Xiaoxie was startled and quickly grabbed him, "What are you doing?"

Lao Yang pointed into the coffin and said, "What I'm looking for is down here. I have to go in."

What? Wu Xiaoxie was stunned. He thought to himself, there's only so much space down there. You can't possibly turn a flower out of there, can you?

Taking advantage of the moment, Lao Yang nimbly squeezed into the gap between the coffin and the lid, then lay down at the bottom with his head on the ground, tapping with his hand while listening with his ear.

Wu Xiaoxie was completely baffled, wondering if there was a hidden layer beneath the coffin. Just then, he heard Lao Yang exclaim joyfully, "Found it!"

"What? What?" Wu Xiaoxie quickly leaned closer to look.

Then Lao Yang had a small ring hooked in his hand. He pulled hard, and a rumble came from the mechanism starting up.

Sure enough, a large hole suddenly appeared in the floor beneath Lao Yang's feet. He had no time to react and fell through the hole the instant it opened.

His shouts echoed loudly against the stone wall, indicating that the cave was very deep.

After a long while, the cave quieted down. Wu Xiaoxie tentatively called out, but didn't hear Lao Yang respond. He immediately thought to himself, "Holy crap, could Lao Yang have fallen to his death?"
He called out several more times, but there was still no response. Wu Xiaoxie gritted his teeth and decided to go down and check. After all, Lao Yang had saved his life before, and he couldn't just stand by and watch someone die.

So Wu Xiaoxie turned back and took the climbing rope that was draped over the edge of the pit. He found a sturdy tree root next to the coffin and secured it. Then he lowered the rope into the pit. He didn't know if the rope was long enough, and he couldn't throw anything down to measure it. At such a height, even an egg falling freely could smash someone's head open. If the person didn't die from the fall but was killed by his own fall, that would be ridiculous.

Composing himself, Wu Xiaoxie held a flashlight in his mouth and gripped the rope with both hands, slowly climbing down.

When I finally climbed up, I realized the height was less than ten meters. Luckily, the walls and bottom of the cave were covered with a thick layer of fungi and moss, which absorbed some of the impact. Otherwise, if I had fallen in without any preparation, I would have definitely cracked my skull and died instantly.

This deep cave is shaped like a bottle with a small mouth and a large belly. The deeper you go, the larger the space becomes. The cave is filled with white, damp mist, which swirls and flows like water when you gently wave your hand.
