Chapter 92 Fleeting

The visibility was so low that even with a flashlight, Wu Xiaoxie was like a blind man, his eyes completely fogged up.

He called out tentatively twice, "Lao Yang? Lao Yang, where are you?"

The sound waves caused the mist in front of me to drift leisurely, forming a wave-like trajectory.

Wu Xiaoxie waited for a while and called out twice more, but still no one answered.

That's strange. It's such a small place. Lao Yang and he arrived almost at the same time. Where could they have gone?
Could it be that he fell and was knocked unconscious and didn't hear his voice?

Since he could barely see anything, Wu Xiaoxie had no choice but to grope his way along the cave wall, searching for people little by little. He had only taken a couple of steps when the strange "thump-thump" sound that had drawn them down suddenly rang out behind him. It was very close, like a thunderclap, and it boomed in the silent space, making Wu Xiaoxie shudder and tense all his muscles. He turned around and swung his flashlight as a weapon behind him.

As expected, nothing was hit, and the sound stopped abruptly.

Wu Xiaoxie gritted his teeth and told himself to calm down. The enemy was in the dark while he was in the light. This couldn't go on; he was too passive. If he were ambushed, he wouldn't even have time to react.

At this point, it's too late to be afraid. You can only grit your teeth and confront the unknown danger head-on. Sitting and waiting for death is tantamount to waiting to die.

Wu Xiaoxie took a step forward, becoming extremely vigilant, and slowly walked to the cave wall, leaning against it with his back against it, his eyes fixed on the movements in the white mist.

The ghostly voice did not sound again, but Wu Xiaoxie still dared not let his guard down. Just as he turned his head to look to the left, the mist on his right suddenly trembled violently. It was so fast that Wu Xiaoxie did not have time to see what it was before the movement disappeared.

"Damn it! This thing is just trying to be mysterious! If it's so tough, why don't it come out and fight me one-on-one!" Wu Xiaoxie wanted to curse. What the hell is this thing? It's just trying to be mysterious. If it's so tough, why don't it come out and fight me one-on-one!
He suspected that Lao Yang was deliberately trying to scare him. He estimated the height of the area where the fog had been fluctuating and found that it was much shorter than Lao Yang. Lao Yang would have to bend over with his knees bent and his waist at an angle of more than 45 degrees to reach it.

To achieve high-speed movement in such an awkward posture, one would have to be neither human nor someone who could actually crouch down and fly over on Nezha's Wind Fire Wheels.

Perhaps influenced by the fat man, the more nervous Wu Xiaoxie became, the more absurd and ridiculous thoughts would pop into his head.

However, after imagining all sorts of random thoughts, the tension did decrease somewhat.

Whether it's a ghost or not, let's find it and make it reveal its true form first.

Composing himself, Wu Xiaoxie swallowed hard, and, holding the lamp in one hand and the knife in the other, walked towards the direction from which the commotion had occurred.

However, when he got there, he still found nothing, and he couldn't help but feel a little discouraged. He turned his head left and right, and suddenly felt that there seemed to be something hanging next to his head. Not sure, he turned his head to that side again.

My goodness, there's something there!
Wu Xiaoxie gripped the knife and frantically stabbed and slashed, but he didn't manage to hit anything. However, the wind he fanned did disperse some of the fog in that direction, revealing the thing's true form.

It turned out to be a bronze chain hanging down from above, about the thickness of a wrist, covered with copper rust mycelium and tiny roots, just hanging there in the air, with nothing attached to it below.
