Chapter 868 Rats!

In the dark underground tomb, Hu Ming walked at the front, holding a powerful flashlight.

Donald, accompanied by his group of private bodyguards, followed closely behind, wary of any suspicious elements in their surroundings.

Seeing the piles of white bones at his feet, Hu Ming had a sudden thought and pondered to himself.

"Are these tomb raiders who died here before, or the craftsmen who were buried alive here when they built this tomb?"

He crouched down and carefully examined the corpses, only to be horrified to discover something.

These fallen skeletons were all missing their skulls.

What's going on?

His mind raced with thoughts: "Could it be that someone murdered these people here and then took their heads as well?"

"Hey, why aren't you moving forward?"

Donald and his men walked up and, seeing Hu Ming deep in thought, immediately asked loudly.

"Some terrible discoveries have been made!"

Hu Ming stood up and continued his investigation along the white bones. Sure enough, he found that none of the skeletons on the ground had their skulls.

"What exactly did you find out? Stop being so secretive!"

Seeing Hu Ming's rambling manner, Donald frowned and asked him a question.

"Look at the bones under your feet. These dead people all had their heads taken last!"

Hu Ming pointed to the stark white bones at his feet and recounted his discovery.

"Damn, I knew it!"

Following the direction Hu Ming was pointing, Donald looked down and his expression immediately changed. He took a step back, feeling uneasy.

"What exactly is going on?"

Donald looked to Hu Ming for help, hoping that this expert could provide an answer.

"We can't figure it out yet, but if we keep going, there will definitely be more clues ahead,"

Hu Ming looked at the increasingly narrow tomb passage ahead and immediately took the lead in walking out.

"Hey, wait for us!"

Donald hurriedly directed his men to catch up with Hu Ming's pace.

As they turned the corner of the tomb passage and looked ahead, they were all suddenly stunned.

A group of large, gray-haired rats were gathered together, gnawing on a fresh corpse.

These rats, as large as wild boars, have hair standing on end all over their bodies, making them visually striking, like hedgehogs.

Their blood-stained fangs and teeth relentlessly tore at the human corpses beneath them, ripping them apart alive.

Bright red intestines were spilled on the ground, splattering sticky blood foam.

"vomit--"

One of the bodyguards, upon seeing this horrifying scene of eternal sleep, immediately vomited.

"Damn it!"

Hu Ming inwardly cried out in alarm.

Sure enough, the next moment, the rats who were enjoying their meal turned around and noticed the arrival of these outsiders.

"Everyone, prepare your weapons! We're about to fight!"

Although Hu Ming wanted to curse, he forced himself to calm down and do the right thing at the moment.

The bodyguards, instinctively following Hu Ming's instructions, drew their sidearms and aimed at the bloodthirsty rats.

Donald was so frightened by the man-eating rats that his legs went weak, and he quickly grabbed the wall to steady himself.

"Protect me quickly!"

He screamed in alarm, his face filled with fear and unease. The bodyguards exchanged glances, but at that moment they all displayed superb tactical skills.

They cooperated with each other, forming a pincer movement, and coldly watched the next move of these large rats.

"Squeaky-"

A large, bright red rat crawled out, seemingly the leader of the group, screeching and giving the order to attack.

Immediately, hordes of large rats surged forward, intending to devour the people in front of them.

"Everyone, fire!"

Hu Ming raised his right hand high, then swung it down suddenly.

His orders were obeyed.

These armed bodyguards were all quite skilled marksmen, and when they coordinated their attacks, they created a hail of bullets.

"Bang bang bang-"

Amidst the intense gunfire, these inherently ferocious rats had no choice but to abandon the corpses of their companions and retreat, squeaking as they went.

Seeing that victory was assured, Donald became excited and loudly gave the order.

"Chase after them! Kill all those wretched giant rats!"

Hu Ming scoffed, "No, the terrain ahead is unknown. If we advance rashly, we might be ambushed."

"An ambush? How could that be possible?"

Donald paused for a moment, then looked at Hu Ming with amusement and shook his head mockingly.

"These are mindless beasts, why would they ambush us?"

Is that so?

Hu Ming countered with a question, then stepped forward, suddenly drew his pistol from his waist, aimed at a large rat carcass lying in front of him, and fired repeatedly.

"Bang bang bang-"

Three gunshots rang out, and the large rat that had fallen dead struggled to its feet, only to be shot dead on the spot.

Donald witnessed this incredible scene, his eyes wide with disbelief as he pointed at the giant rat's carcass and exclaimed.

"How...how is this possible? This damned beast actually knows how to play dead."

Hu Ming blew on the muzzle of his gun and said in a cold tone.

"Don't underestimate the beasts in these ancient tombs. The fact that they can survive in this dangerous environment makes them more threatening than we thought."

Donald said with an embarrassed expression.

"So what should we do now?"

Hu Ming glanced at the private bodyguards beside him and tilted his head at them.

"Next, we'll need your help to finish off these big rats on the ground one by one. Once we've confirmed they're all truly dead, we can step over these corpses and continue exploring."

The bodyguards exchanged bitter, resentful glances and had no choice but to follow Hu Ming's instructions, firing shots at the dead rats.

Taking advantage of this brief moment, Hu Ming walked up to Donald.

"Hey, do you sense anything's wrong?"

He said in a low voice.

This strange question left Donald somewhat puzzled.

He hesitated for a moment, then cautiously asked Hu Ming, "Have you noticed anything amiss?"

Hu Ming nodded, his gaze shifting to what was behind Donald.

Donald was startled by the gaze and immediately asked, his face turning pale, "Hey, is there something sinister behind me?"

Hu Ming did not answer this question, but instead raised his hand and suddenly raised the muzzle of his gun!
