Tomb Raider: I Am Hu Bayi's Cousin
Chapter 867 The Devil in the Tomb!
Chapter 867 The Devil in the Tomb!
Under the dark night sky, a fierce wind howled through the entire jungle.
Hu Ming and his group trekked through the jungle under the cover of night, heading towards the distant hills.
Donald followed behind, panting, and then shouted, exhausted.
"Hey, let's take a break, I can't hold on much longer!"
Hu Ming turned around and glanced helplessly at Donald, who was covered in sweat from exhaustion.
"Have one of your men carry it for you; we don't have time to relax here right now!"
Donald's personal bodyguards' faces fell immediately upon hearing this.
Their big boss is comparable in size to a 200-pound fat pig; making them carry him would be an exhausting task for these errand runners.
Donald didn't care what his men thought. When he saw Hu Ming say that, he casually raised his hands and gave orders to his unfortunate subordinates.
"Carry me away!"
Despite cursing under their breath, the private bodyguards had no choice but to grit their teeth and step forward, carrying the tycoon, who was practically a giant tank, and rushing on their way.
They walked for another ten minutes without stopping, and finally arrived at their destination.
"call--"
Under the howling wind, everyone stopped, exhausted.
Hu Ming walked ahead, then mustered his strength and strode firmly up the hill.
He scanned his surroundings and noticed a strange whistling sound coming from the weeds on one side.
"Is there a cave entrance here?"
Hu Ming stepped forward, reached out and parted the weeds to look inside.
From an inconspicuous hole, a constant gust of cold wind was blowing out.
"This is a tunnel dug by our predecessors!"
His face instantly darkened, and he couldn't help but think, "Could it be that the golden manuscript is no longer on this forbidden island? But in any case, since I've gone through so much trouble to get here, I should at least go down and give it a try."
Donald shook off his men's support and strode forward arrogantly, asking Hu Ming in a gruff voice.
"What, did you discover something?"
Hu Ming stepped aside and pointed to the hole in the weeds.
"See that? It's a tomb raider's tunnel. It seems that before we arrived, some skilled individuals had already found this forbidden island and infiltrated the ancient tomb below."
Upon hearing this, Donald immediately shouted anxiously.
"Then the treasures on this forbidden island must have already been taken!"
Hu Ming shook his head and said, "That's hard to say. This island is very strange. We can't see any signs of getting out from here. Maybe the people who got there before us have already died under this ancient tomb."
Donald wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said breathlessly, "You idiot, you should have told me sooner! Now I'm worried sick!"
Hu Ming patted the soil beneath his feet and said seriously, "Alright, there's no point in wasting time talking here. Let's get started and go take a look at the ancient tomb below!"
Donald grinned greedily and nodded repeatedly, saying, "You're absolutely right this time!"
He turned to his men and ordered, "Hey, did you hear that? Quickly take out the tools you carry and start digging. Try to dig an underground passage that we can easily enter in the shortest amount of time."
The private bodyguards exchanged glances, their eyes filled with helplessness as they stepped forward to take on the menial task of digging.
Hu Ming stood up and directed the private bodyguards who were digging, telling them which direction to dig from.
They spent about half an hour getting to this point.
As a bodyguard, panting heavily, shoveled down for the last shovelful, his footing suddenly gave way, and he fell heavily to the ground.
"What the hell?"
Donald, who was resting and drinking water, looked up in surprise. Hu Ming, who was supervising the work nearby, shouted with delight.
"It's done! We've reached the lower part of the tomb passage!"
Upon hearing this, Donald excitedly stood up and walked towards the entrance of the underground passage.
"Make way, make way, don't block the way!"
Donald shoved aside his men who were digging in front of him and walked forward excitedly on his own.
He stood in front of the dark cave entrance and shouted down.
"Hey, you guys down there, is this an ancient tomb?"
The bodyguard's reply came from inside: "Mr. Donald, below is a well-preserved ancient tomb!"
"Great! I knew it! I've always been lucky!"
Donald gestured to his men to quickly tie a rope around his waist.
Hu Ming walked over, tied a rope around his waist, and prepared to go down with him.
"Let's go down one after the other!"
Hu Ming gave instructions to the impatient Donald.
"Remember, once you're inside this ancient tomb, do not touch anything around you carelessly, as that could trigger a deadly trap!"
"I know!"
Donald waved his hand dismissively, seemingly not taking it to heart at all.
Seeing the guy's half-hearted attitude, Hu Ming knew that he hadn't listened to anything he said.
"That idiot!"
He cursed inwardly, but now he understood that it was very difficult for wealthy and powerful people to listen to advice.
"I'll go down first!"
As Hu Ming spoke, he tested the ropes on his body with force. After seeing that there were no problems, he went down into the newly dug tunnel in one go.
"Splash—"
Hu Ming gripped the rope in his hand and slowly slid down to the bottom of the ancient tomb.
He saw the private bodyguard who had gotten off earlier standing in front of him, looking around nervously.
Have you found anything here?
Hu Ming frowned and subconsciously asked.
The private bodyguard who got off first swallowed nervously and said cautiously.
"When I came down here just now, I vaguely heard the sound of a girl sobbing coming from the innermost part of this ancient tomb."
"What did you say?"
Upon hearing this, Hu Ming immediately frowned, a strong sense of unease welling up inside him.
"Boom—"
A heavy figure crashed down from above.
Hu Ming quickly turned around and saw Donald, covered in dust, getting up and muttering something under his breath.
"This damn rope broke at the last minute! What a piece of junk!"
Hu Ming couldn't help but shake his head inwardly, evaluating Dao Dong in his heart.
"With your supermodel weight, it's already quite a miracle that you can hold the rope for so long."
Of course, Hu Ming would never say such a thing to someone's face!
