Chapter 56 Beginning

Well, there's still a tiny bit of a gap between ideals and reality.

Jiang Hui stared dumbfounded at the large bag of mixed parts in front of her.

These were the main tasks for her hands-on workshop. As soon as the teachers finished their class, a huge bag of miscellaneous materials was tossed up from under the workbench, without even an instruction manual. It was a complete mess; you couldn't tell which item was which at all.

Jiang Hui felt that all the lessons she had just listened to had been a waste of time.

However, she noticed that everyone else seemed to be adapting quite well. A large bag was unpacked, and the contents were dumped out, filling the entire workbench.

Looking at this pile of things, lying around without any clear name, Jiang Hui felt a headache coming on. She even wondered why she had bothered to come all this way. She was a humanities student, after all.

But as I said before, everyone should dare to challenge themselves.

Since we're already here, we can't just come to see the scenery and then go back.

Just do it.

Suppressing the impossibilities and pessimistic assumptions in her mind, she began to sort out these small parts.

Influenced by Lan Xing's childhood craft classes, when she didn't know where to start, she could begin with the simplest classification. Jiang Hui grouped similar parts together according to their patterns, and then separated those of vastly different sizes to prevent them from interfering with each other.

If you can't tell the parts apart, look up and see the order of disassembly the parts that the teacher left on the screen.

Well, how should I put it? This miniature mecha is a bit like the Gundam models she used to assemble when she was a kid. Only much more detailed, though. The parts fit perfectly into their designated spots, and it moves freely even after the small parts are assembled. All the parts and joints have that strong high-tech mechanical feel, and it's not hard to imagine how realistic it would be if fully assembled.

Jiang Hui was slightly distracted, wondering if this thing was also made based on the miniature mecha model that her teacher had disassembled before. If so, could she take it back herself after assembling it?
In reality, it wasn't as difficult as Jiang Hui had imagined. She felt that since coming to this interstellar region, her eyesight, manual dexterity, and even her mental acuity were far superior to what they had been on Earth.

Jiang Hui could even feel as if her hands had eyes, sometimes completing the entire process of scooping out, sorting, and setting aside before her brain could even process it.

Moreover, the speed is getting faster and faster, and there is a growing tendency to become immersed in it.

When the last miscellaneous part was separated and placed into its own category, her instinctive urge to retrieve it abruptly halted. Her previously blank mind, like a burst bubble, was jolted awake with a "boom."

Jiang Hui stared, slightly stunned, at the neatly arranged, neatly categorized parts. Did she do this? Could she really have done this? How come she didn't know she had this ability?

She was somewhat confused about her state of being possessed by a spirit just now. Could this be the wondrous use of mental power?

Jiang Hui, completely baffled, simply stopped thinking about it and moved on to the next step.

This miniature mecha is a typical humanoid mecha, consisting of a head, limbs, and a torso. The middle torso is relatively heavy, and the parts are quite large. From an anatomical perspective, this is a more structured approach. Her hand, which had been reaching for the limb parts, was abruptly pulled back and landed on the largest piece of metal back bone.

……

"Mr. Carlo, what brings you here? I thought it was a mistake on the list or someone with the same name, but it turns out to be you." With the children working enthusiastically below, the adults, whose tasks above had temporarily come to an end, finally had time to chat.

Although celebrities from all walks of life were invited to visit, their purposes were not so simple. Some wanted to give face to Dongbo Group, while others originally wanted to make friends with celebrities. Whenever they had free time, they practically turned the venue into a social circle.

Most of them didn't care much about the extracurricular activities of a group of kids, since those with real backgrounds and talents wouldn't be assembling mecha models here at this point.

Mechs are not toys. In their eyes, ordinary people can't afford to play with such expensive things.

However, there are naturally some people here who are genuinely there for the purpose of promotion.

The three lecturers who had just given the presentations to the participants below were grouped together. They were obviously quite capable to be invited to this event as keynote speakers, and since they huddled together and pretended not to want to communicate, the "celebrities" naturally didn't dare to disturb them.

These three people actually knew each other. The elder, Mr. Trean, was a renowned mecha scholar on Planet 732. In his youth, he was also a highly acclaimed intermediate mecha pilot, but later he switched to academic research on mecha history. And he truly succeeded on this path, now not only a famous scholar on his planet but also quite renowned throughout the resident system.

The Hailusi Group went to great lengths to invite him this time.

However, everyone knew that the old man was not good at communicating, so the two younger people greeted him politely and did not dare to disturb him too much, and they talked quietly to each other.

Chi Rong, an intermediate mecha pilot, also knew Mr. Carlo, a teacher at Wanhe Intermediate Academy. However, Mr. Carlo was many years older than Chi Rong; he was already a teacher when Chi Rong first enrolled.

Chi Rong may not have seen this teacher for many years. The teacher had guided her in several professional competitions years ago, from which she benefited greatly. Therefore, she has never forgotten the teacher's kindness over the years. Whenever she meets her, she shows great respect.

However, she had some doubts. Mr. Carlo was no ordinary intermediate mecha pilot. Although she and he were both intermediate mecha pilots, Mr. Carlo was once qualified to be selected as an advanced mecha pilot. He had only ever participated in professional competitions. Why would he come to participate in such a public event that couldn't even be called a competition?

It's so weird.

“Why can’t I come? Ms. Xiao Rong is here too…” Carlo said with a smile.

"No, no, no, Professor Carlo, that's not what I meant. I'm just wondering why such a small occasion would be a waste of your talents?" Chi Rong waved her hands repeatedly. Although she could tell that Mr. Carlo wasn't angry, she realized that her question might have sounded a bit odd, so she quickly explained.

"Hehehe, what's there to be afraid of? I'm not that petty. Sigh, I'm just useless now, I've offended people, so naturally I can only find something to do myself. Teaching children isn't bad either. I'm happy to see so many promising talents." The young man said with some emotion, "As for Ms. Rong, oh no, I should call you Ms. Chi. I heard that you've been doing better and better these past few years, and your teacher is very pleased."
