The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 59 Wounds
Chapter 59 Wounds
These soldiers stood tall and straight, perfectly aligned, their presence so strong that it deterred any with ill intentions from making any rash moves. Their unwavering steadfastness, like a mountain, instilled a sense of security in the anxious and fearful.
Those who were notified to evacuate immediately seemed to have finally found their anchor. Although they did not slow down their escape, they finally found their own way.
There were just too many people, as if an entire corporation had gathered here. People kept coming from all directions, and during the evacuation, they were all bulging in the corridors. Even with a considerable number of soldiers and staff assisting in clearing the way, things were still a bit chaotic.
Jiang Hui was inexperienced and unlucky, encountering several groups of rude strangers who came and went in a hurry, almost bumping into her. In the chaos, she was suddenly shoved by someone and stumbled out of the way. Fortunately, a kind person nearby helped her up, preventing her from falling flat on her face.
However, she smashed it too hard, and no one could stop her. The next moment, something seemed to hit her forehead. A cool, inorganic sensation, unique to metal, seeped into her mind from the slight sting on her forehead, startling her so much that she wanted to run away. But the hand that was holding her was like an iron clamp, pressing her down so firmly that she couldn't move an inch.
What kind of superstitious thing happened to her today?!
Immediately, the thing that was pricking her forehead seemed to separate, and the force that was holding her arm loosened slightly, turning from a clamp to a support, using her palm to support her and help her regain her balance.
Jiang Hui stood up awkwardly, feeling a sharp pain in her forehead and a burning sensation in the back of her left arm. Finally, she could only say, with stars in her eyes, "...Thank you."
The other party remained silent and did not give any response.
She then felt a cold gaze fall upon her, which lingered briefly on her forehead.
"Be careful..." The deep voice was completely flat: "Hurry up and go."
Jiang Hui barely recovered before realizing that the person who helped her was extremely tall and wearing... a military uniform?! At her current height, she could only see the badge on the other person's chest when looking at him at eye level.
After the other person reminded her to leave, their gaze shifted away, and they stepped out of their boots. She subconsciously looked up, but could only vaguely make out half of a chiseled face, and a faint mole below the corner of their right eye.
Jiang Hui walked a long way in a daze, and when she looked back, she couldn't even see the shadow of that small team anymore. And she was once again "pushed" by the converging crowd, walking a long way.
Fortunately, nothing else happened in between. After the crowd was hastily evacuated to the designated location, she left the Dongbo Group's branch building almost without looking back.
What should have been a pleasant day trip turned out like this. Although she was out of danger, Jiang Hui had no desire to linger outside any longer, so she simply hailed a speedboat and went straight back to her apartment.
After returning home, Jiang Hui was still shaken and checked several times to make sure she had locked the doors and windows before she calmed down a little.
She sat on the sofa in the living room for a while, not knowing how long she sat there, when she felt a slight chill on her body and realized with a start that it was already dark.
Jiang Hui didn't even want to eat. She dragged her heavy steps back to the bedroom, prepared to wash up and go to bed to calm her nerves.
After a hasty shower and putting on comfortable loungewear, I was about to turn around and leave the bathroom when I noticed in the full-length mirror at the exit that my forehead was swollen and red.
She slowly approached the mirror, frowning as she examined the suddenly appearing red and swollen wound. Touching it with her fingertips, the surface was quite uneven, with several irregular marks, and in the middle, it looked as if something sharp had pierced through it, leaving several obvious red dots.
When I pressed down, she hissed in pain as some blood was squeezed out.
That mark… she remembered it. It was left when the soldier helped her up earlier today; it was clearly a mark from hitting something with a hard outer edge. Now she wondered if it was from hitting someone's gun.
Jiang Hui couldn't help but give a wry smile. Well done, you've practically walked right into someone else's line of fire. She should be thankful she'd only come into direct contact with what's literally deadly.
She needs to be more careful... otherwise, if she has a real close encounter in the middle of a melee next time, she might lose her second life again.
Jiang Hui carefully examined the wound on her forehead to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong before using a small treatment device to repair the damage to her skin until her skin was smooth and undamaged.
Jiang Hui felt a deep sense of mental distress. Her reason kept urging her to stay in bed, but she suddenly remembered that she hadn't taken her dose of the mental stabilizer for the day. She struggled to sit up.
Everything else can be discussed later, and we can think about it when we have time, but the medicine still needs to be taken on time.
So she had to go back to the living room, take out a vial of mental stabilizer from the cold storage, and gulp it down without caring how uncomfortable she felt. Only then was she able to go back to her room to rest. As soon as she closed her eyes, she almost collapsed, forgetting even about the mental space, wanting only to cover her head and sleep.
Jiang Hui was not surprised at all to find that she had woken up in a mental space.
Looking at the time on the screen, it was already past seven o'clock. Hmm... it should be around seven in the morning, because Jiang Hui felt that she had slept for just the right amount of time, feeling quite energetic without the splitting headache from oversleeping.
Although he woke up in the mental space, he had actually had a good rest. Jiang Hui finally felt that the fright he had experienced at the Dongbo Group branch today had subsided considerably, and he was now able to think about what had happened that day.
Wasn't it supposed to be quite safe to reside in a resident star system? The fact that such a large conglomerate as Dongbo Group has even attracted the military to station there suggests that no one would believe it's safe.
It's hard to say whether Jiang Hui was just unlucky or if interstellar people have a different understanding of the word "safety." She's been in interstellar space for so many days now, and to stumble upon such a spectacle just by casually choosing one day to participate in an event is truly unbelievable.
Jiang Hui now feels that this world is different from the world she used to live in. At least the country on Blue Star is the safest place in that world, without exception.
After a period of wild and confused thinking, Jiang Hui finally felt extremely hungry. A feeling of hunger, more intense than ever before, washed over her, and an alarm bell rang in her mind. She quickly got up and went to the living room to find something to eat.
In truth, Jiang Hui didn't quite understand why she felt hungry in her dreams. Moreover, the sensation was so realistic that she constantly had to find something to eat, even in this mental space.
