Chapter 69 Social Anxiety
Because she hadn't slept the night before, Jiang Hui got ready early the next morning and went out.

The freshman campus handbook states that students can still enter and exit the campus during the registration period. However, the university does not recommend this and encourages students to spend these three days exploring the campus and familiarizing themselves with their future learning environment, as many areas are open to freshmen.

Moreover, she wasn't completely idle these past few days; there were other miscellaneous tasks, such as picking up school uniforms, applying for a school card, registering for a school intranet account, reporting to her class, and participating in some activities that the school hadn't mentioned.

Jiang Hui got up very early, intending to arrange all the miscellaneous things for the day, and went straight to the cafeteria early in the morning.

Schools are different; it's only a little past six, and the cafeteria is already quite crowded. But almost all of them are second or third-year students, all upperclassmen, which makes her, the newcomer, feel a bit out of place.

That's the downside of starting school; you haven't even received your school uniform yet, and people can tell you're new right away.

Jiang Hui wasn't shy at all; however, as a seasoned selectively socially anxious person from Blue Star, she was still not used to being the center of attention.

When she noticed many eyes were on her, Jiang Hui's first thought wasn't whether her hair was combed, whether her clothes were on properly, whether her face looked ugly, or whether she was walking with a hunched back... but rather whether she should lift her left foot or her right foot to go in, or even jump in with both feet.

Then Jiang Hui didn't know how she ended up inside. The novelty had probably worn off by the other people, and when she got her food, she no longer felt those special gazes directed at her.

After ordering, Jiang Hui found a relatively secluded and empty spot, sat down, and quietly began to eat her breakfast, while thinking about what she should do next.

She was eating casually when she noticed someone walking towards her. Because Jiang Hui didn't want to be treated like an animal in a zoo, she had specifically chosen this completely open area.

People have arrived so early?

Jiang Hui subconsciously looked up and then spotted a very familiar figure.

Isn't this Clarence, her classmate who helped her register yesterday?

Seeing that the other person was walking quite close to her, Jiang Hui casually tried to say hello, but the other person acted as if they didn't see her at all, and walked to a table far away from her without even glancing at her.

Fortunately, Jiang Hui wasn't an overly enthusiastic person; she was just thinking of saying hello casually, so her movements weren't big, and it was easy for her to back down now without feeling awkward.

Okay, actually, we're not really that close. She's just been working in the workforce for a long time, and regardless of her personality, she always carries some of the habits of a working professional.

But seriously, did Clarence have to sit so far away...? This entire area is empty; she's sitting at the front, and he's practically sitting at the furthest table from her, even sitting back-to-back. It makes Jiang Hui feel like some dangerous person everyone's avoiding.

Forget it, let's not dwell on it. This classmate did help her on registration day, so it's not fair to criticize them. Maybe they just weren't familiar with each other...

So Jiang Hui lowered her head and started eating her breakfast again. Hmm, the food in the school cafeteria is pretty good, even better than the one at the hospital.

Just as she was chewing on half a piece of bread, Jiang Hui felt someone gradually approaching her, and a gaze clearly fell on her.

Jiang Hui: ...

The girl slowly swallowed the food in her mouth, then looked up at the person who had approached. — It was Clarence, the classmate who had been avoiding her like the plague just moments before.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Jiang Hui asked politely.

While she understands... some people are just like that, a bit shy, perhaps even a bit withdrawn, it's just a personality trait, nothing much to say about it. But the problem is, your behavior really seems abrupt, contradictory.

One moment he wouldn't even greet her, avoiding her like the plague; the next he'd come right up to her, giving her a cold look. Jiang Hui wasn't so easily intimidated, but during this lovely breakfast time, she'd actually prefer to enjoy the campus scenery rather than that indifferent face.

Very well, she felt that she was quite polite, after all, she was almost twice the age of the other person.

"We need a female contact person; there are some things we need to discuss with the female students in the class," the other party said rather curtly.

The address is stilted and the speech is without any context, it's completely disjointed.

It took Jiang Hui a while to realize that the girl needed a contact person and needed help contacting her female classmates... She wanted to ask her for help?!

To be honest, she genuinely felt that this classmate's communication skills really needed improvement. If the other person hadn't kindly given her directions yesterday, Jiang Hui might have thought the other person had some kind of prejudice against her.

Although boys and girls are different, everyone at this age is in school, right? And they're studying combat individual combat training, where the gender distinction isn't so pronounced. But during training, who knows who will fight whom? They certainly won't hold back. Would there really be such a clear gender difference in this kind of training?

So, whether the other party had a communication problem, or whether they had a problem with this Clarence student, Jiang Hui was truly baffled.

Clearly, the other person didn't see anything wrong with his communication style and asked her in the same curt tone if she could leave now...

So did she agree?

Jiang Hui was practically spitting out a question mark.

In the end, she agreed. But her condition was that she had to finish eating first. Eating was the most important thing, and no one could stop her from eating her fill. Anything else could wait until she finished eating.

And so, Jiang Hui, somewhat bewildered, became the new class's volunteer guide, helping to contact the female students who hadn't yet registered, going to the girls' dormitory to remind them of some important things, and finally returning to help distribute the school uniforms.

It wasn't until Jiang Hui arrived at the cafeteria and faced off against her classmate Clarence at two separate tables, eating her dinner, that she realized she had been tricked into working for nothing all day.

Fortunately, Jiang Hui didn't lose out either; while helping with the guidance, she also got to handle some of the procedures herself. Now, she has almost completed all the formalities required for arriving at school, and all she has to do is wait for the start of the semester.

Even though a whole day has passed, she really wants to know if this classmate Clarence is actually socially awkward.

Tomorrow should be the start of military training (˙o˙)
