What bad thoughts can Batman have?

Chapter 979 Dr. Manhattan: Hello, Void Hand

Chapter 979 Dr. Manhattan: Hello, Void Hand

As Chen Tao said, becoming a member of the DC multiverse comes at a price.

The Hand of the Void acted too hastily and recklessly.

Although he had entered the DC multiverse, the Void Hand completely mistook it for the ordinary multiverses he had seen before, making many mistakes, one of the most important of which was:
"All you know is that the center of the DC multiverse possesses immense power, capable of making the entire DC multiverse revolve around you, becoming the center of the world, the darling of the multiverse. You regard this identity as a gift and blessing, and are willing to distort your own existence with the power called 'Story' in order to obtain this identity. But the immune cells of the DC multiverse are never a gift. The Void Hand is a curse."

Chen Tao said in a low voice, "A painful curse."

The Void Hand had fully realized something was wrong. If the blue N52 Superman Essence was truly meant to attack him, he could certainly fight back. If it was meant to manipulate him, he also had the power to retaliate, but it was neither.

N52 Superman came to merge with him; they were face to face, face to face. The Void Hand was helpless against the blue shadow that he had just vomited up. Meanwhile, outside the multiverse, Dr. Manhattan watched the current development of the DC multiverse, and everything before him made him fall into deep thought.

Faced with Perpetua's threat, Batman Dragon, an immune cell of the DC multiverse, was placed into the Void Hand of the Outer Gods. However, through a series of unforeseen events, the Void Hand, blinded by greed, willingly claimed the position and essence of Superman at the center of the DC multiverse, and even used its powers to rectify the final mistake.

Then, under the pressure of this status and essence, the Void Hand must attack the Watchers universe, and Perpetua will follow. If the two of them fight near the Watchers universe, even if they don't intend to destroy the Watchers universe, the Watchers universe will be finished.

All of this is interconnected, and only one person can unravel the cause-and-effect chain of this story.

"I..."

Dr. Manhattan was devoid of emotion, but even at this moment, the blue shadow around him trembled slightly. He traversed different times and pasts, and the future that the Void Hand and Perpetua were destined to bring to the Watchers universe had begun to take shape in the hypertime stream. If Dr. Manhattan did not intervene, it would solidify into reality.

The DC multiverse created a solution that would cause him the least harm. He tied his safety to the Watchers universe, then forced Dr. Manhattan to simultaneously suppress the weakened Perpetua and the Void Hand, who had strayed into the DC multiverse, whose power was not only suppressed but also constrained by its own abilities.

According to Dr. Manhattan's estimation, he indeed could not accept the aftermath of the Watchers universe's destruction in Papetua and the Void Hand war, and this binding was truly successful.

But why the binding? Is this binding, to some extent, the optimal solution for the DC multiverse? Was this really Batman Dragon's idea? Or did some unseen force within the DC multiverse help him find the optimal solution?

If... if I block this chemical reaction, can the DC multiverse still provide a solution?
Furthermore, if the Void Hand becomes the center of the DC multiverse, then what about the original Superman? How could the Void Hand so easily steal the center of the DC multiverse using his abilities?

This is impossible. Shouldn't the DC multiverse have temporarily relaxed its control over the rules at the center of the universe in order to hold me hostage? No, this sounds like the DC multiverse is a self-aware entity, but the truth is clearly not so.

Dr. Manhattan grew increasingly curious, but it was clear that there was no time left for him to deduce further.

On the other side, the Void Hand took a deep breath.

The essence of N52 Superman is certainly not capable of manipulating the Void Hand.

He is an Outer God, existing outside the DC multiverse, whose power is infinitely close to that of Papetua at his peak.

Although entering the unfamiliar environment of the DC multiverse weakened his power, his lack of understanding of the Hypertime Stream caused him to suffer repeated losses when facing Perpetua.

But ultimately, his fundamental nature remained the same, and the attacks that Papetua created on the trans-temporal stream ultimately did not pose any real trouble for him.

Once the Hand of the Void regroups, he will soon discover that Papetua, whom he was unwilling to confront, is not as powerful as he imagined.

Strictly speaking, if he hadn't been so cowardly as to confront Papetua head-on, Papetua herself, who hadn't yet regained control of the main body, might have been the first to give in—of course, the Void Hand wouldn't have won then either, because Batman Dragon would have immediately turned his guns on the great Queen Papetua.

But now the Hand of the Void has lost that opportunity. The entire DC multiverse is weighing heavily on him. He has taken on the identity of the center of the universe, as if he has put a dog leash on himself.

It's like two strong men boxing each other. Before the fight even starts, one of them puts a collar around his neck and hands the other the other end of it. Even if the one who's chained up is stronger, he'll still get beaten up when the fight begins. Not to mention, the entire DC multiverse is far larger than the Void Hand in terms of sheer size.

"You must fulfill your duty at the core of the universe to save the DC multiverse, Void Hand." Chen Tao gave an exaggerated salute and then said, "Your most loyal ally, Batman Dragon, will assist you in protecting you from evil villains."

The Void Hand remained expressionless: "What do I need to do?"

"It's very simple, a heroic act. The merging of the Watchers universe and the DC multiverse has never been fully realized. You see, universes like the Wildstorm universe, the Mass universe, and the Vertigo universe—their main universes, main planets, and main timelines have become part of the DC multiverse, or parallel universes (like the Mass comic universe), or their main characters have gained a completely new origin and then appeared in the main universe of the DC multiverse (like Shazam!)."

"But the Watchmen universe is different. You see, the Watchmen universe and the DC multiverse are still two universes, just closely attached to each other. Strictly speaking, these two universes have not merged; at most, they are affiliated with each other."

Chen Tao said, "All you need to do is go there, then integrate the Watchers universe into the DC main universe, making it one of the parallel universes. That will complete the task assigned to you by the DC multiverse."

Chen Tao is just fooling the idiot again.

This section is full of plot holes. Dr. Manhattan is trying to cultivate a cosmic core within the Watchmen universe, the little boy with blue light emanating from his head at the end of Doomsday Bell. If the Watchmen universe were to be integrated into the DC multiverse now, it would become one of the countless parallel universes that have been integrated into the DC multiverse. However, what Dr. Manhattan wants is a vassal relationship like that of a suzerain state... perhaps?
In short, Chen Tao was certain that Dr. Manhattan would never allow the Void Hand to do that.

The Void Hand remained silent. He had realized how misleading Batman Dragon's words were, but he had no choice but to act. "Don't even think about it," Papetua was forced to block his path.

The Void Hand remained motionless, and Chen Tao waited silently.

He awaited the Void Hand's retaliation.

what……

Long, long ago, there existed a kingdom as sweet as candy, where the clouds were cotton candy and the streams flowed with honey. The young warrior, the Hand of the Void, draped in a cloak as bright as a sunflower, accepted a vital mission from King DC of the Whitebeard Multiverse—to travel to the distant Watcher's Castle and lead its people back to the safety of their kingdom!

As the Void Hand departed, the King pinned the badge "N52 Superman," inlaid with the essence of blue, to his chest: "My child, remember, true courage is like a seed; it needs the watering of kindness to blossom."

N52 Superman howled, and the blue badge jumped onto Void Hand's face, forcibly merging with him. Void Hand remained expressionless.

Hand of the Void, his face grumpy, was forced to hum a tune as he entered the Whispering Forest, where the trees whispered and the dandelions danced in circles. Suddenly! The shadows of the trees twisted into spiderweb shapes, and the air was filled with the smell of sour lemons—the evil witch Papetua had appeared! She wore a blackcurrant robe, her hair was twisted vines, and her roar was as piercing as an overturned bell.

"This road is blocked, young warrior!" the witch cried urgently. "If you want to die, don't take me with you!"

The Void Hand bravely raised its sword, only to find that the blade had turned into soft cotton candy—the entire forest was shrouded in the witch's magic, the stones began to grow sharp teeth, and the tree roots wriggled like snakes.

Just as the situation reached its most critical moment, mint-colored smoke drifted from the tree hollow, and a strange creature draped in a starry cloak gracefully descended. He had bat wings, a dragon's body, and half-moon-shaped glasses perched on his nose—this was the benevolent wizard Batman Dragon!

"Why am I here?" His voice was like warm, honeyed milk. "What the hell? Why did you drag me here to help? Never mind—Papetua fears three things most: genuine laughter, songs of unity, and—"

Batman Dragon uttered a strange voice: "Damn it, what the hell am I saying???"

"Ouch!" The witch's lightning shattered the mushroom umbrellas they were standing on into popcorn.

Batman Dragon flapped his wings and rapidly calculated on his maple leaf notebook: "According to the magic of the DC multiverse, all we need is..."

He scoffed, "That's utter nonsense. What does magic from the DC multiverse have to do with this? Besides, I'm not a mage at all. And another thing, my true form was inside the Ultimate Monitor, how did you manage to pull me out???"

In their first battle of wits, the witch summoned a rain of biting thorns. Batman Dragon calmly blew his willow whistle, and the hedgehog called World Maker rolled into a ball of fur, catching all the thorns. "Look!" Batman Dragon blinked. "Every life has its purpose—World Maker, are you alright?!"

The World Forger was ejected from the Ultimate Watcher, screaming in agony. Numerous thorns pierced his body, and his blue skin was nearly ripped off by the enraged Papetua. Yet, he had somehow managed to withstand Papetua's first wave of attacks, and not against his own will—a truly terrifying feat.

In the second encounter, the witch caused the road to twist and spin. The Void Hand Warrior, remembering the king's words, placed the essence of N52 Superman at the crossroads. The essence emitted a warm light, and the witch's fusion of Martian Manhunter and human genes transformed into fireflies. The fireflies swarmed, paving a straight path with their soft glow.

Chen Tao stood by, dumbfounded.

The final showdown unfolded within the Moonlight Mushroom Circle. Papetua chanted his most powerful incantation, and the entire forest began to fold, the sky trembling like a tattered cloth.

"Now!" Batman Dragon throws out a net woven from starlight, and the Void Hand leads all the little creatures bullied by the witch in a chorus of songs. The Anti-Monitor brings dewdrops, the Monitor holds acorns, and even the grumpy Superman Supreme claps along. The sincere songs converge into a rainbow, and the witch's magic melts away like ice and snow meeting the sun—it turns out that what she feared most was the warmth of everyone's unity.

The Monitor and the Counter-Monitor were ejected from the Ultimate Monitor, screaming in agony. The usually ruthless Counter-Monitor was beaten by Papetua's attack and howled like a groundhog being raped.

"Impossible!" the witch screamed, shrinking into a raspberry. Batman Dragon jumped in fright and quickly kicked her away. "Grandpa! You really won?"

As the morning light streams in, the forest is transformed. The babbling brook provides accompaniment, and the wild berries turn from snow-white to ruby red. Batman Dragon reluctantly pushes up his glasses: "I'm going to teach the spiders how to knit scarves. Remember, child, where wisdom and kindness meet, miracles always happen."

"It's fucking weird, the way they won is weird," Chen Tao said.

When the Void Hand emerged from the forest, the people of Watcher's Castle were already waiting. It turned out that Batman Dragon had sent a message via maple leaf letter. King Whitebeard personally greeted him and declared this day a new holiday—Courage and Friendship Day.

Even now, the kingdom's children can still find glowing mushrooms in the Whispering Woods, relics of starlight scattered during the battles of yesteryear. If you listen closely, you can even hear Batman Dragon's gentle whispers in the wind:
"When you're scared, sing a song. You have way more friends than you think! Damn it, this is weird. Help! Let me go, Void Hand!"

The Void Hand finally temporarily defeated Papetua, and he arrived at the Watcher's Cosmic Castle, where he saw the big blue bald man waiting there.

"Hello."

He said so.
