A day at Hogwarts.
Chapter 565 Picked up
Chapter 565 Picked up
Grindelwald stood up, intending to follow Jack to see which audacious fellow dared to steal, and also to stretch his muscles.
However, as soon as he got off the chair, his movements suddenly stopped.
A subtle, yet perfectly clear, magical fluctuation also triggered the alarm mark he had left in his "pension" vault.
A smile, a mixture of surprise and icy anger, appeared on Grindelwald's face. He straightened up completely, elegantly adjusted his collar, and his eyes flashed with cold light: "Oh...you have quite the nerve."
His voice remained calm, but the danger in it was no less than Jack's: "They've even tried to steal from me."
The warning spell he had placed on his share of the treasure also went off. This thief had quite an appetite; he actually wanted to take everything at once.
The two exchanged a glance, and simultaneously revealed cold and cruel smiles.
good, very good.
Looks like we can have a good time today, and let one or more foolish thieves know what happens when they steal the pensions of the two most dangerous wizards in history!
This time, we will not let the thief die so easily; that would be too lenient.
Even Albus Dumbledore would first cover his head with a sack to pretend he wasn't serious before giving him a beating.
The alarm fluctuations behind the door flashed by in an instant, but Charles didn't notice or care. He just thought to himself that the password to the other storeroom was Dumbledore's birthday.
He pushed open the heavy door, and a smell mixed with metal, parchment and ancient dust rushed out.
The warehouse was quite spacious, filled with all sorts of boxes and shelves, on which various gold and silver utensils, gems, antiques, piles of Galon Sikonat, and a large number of magical items and works of art that looked extremely valuable were displayed.
Many items still bear the Lestrange family's raven crest.
Charles didn't have time to examine them closely. His goal was clear: to find twenty or thirty items with the obvious Lestrange family raven emblem and that looked very valuable, so as to create the illusion of a warehouse specifically for storing these items.
He quickly rummaged through the many shelves, his movements swift and efficient.
Soon, he selected several good items from the two warehouses.
A silver inkwell inlaid with a few small gemstones. When the lid is opened, there are two dip pens with gilt bronze embossed green crystal barrels, engraved with "Leta Lestrange" and "Theseus Scamander" respectively. The name of the giver, Newt Scamander, is on the back of the lid.
A gold cup with minor chips on the edge but a clear raven emblem, and which is six or seven parts similar in shape to Hufflepuff's gold cup, is likely a Victorian forgery.
Other items include a crystal jar with a silver-plated gold stand, a sterling silver salt bottle inlaid with amethyst, a brooch made of chrysoberyl and topaz, a blue glass jug with a silver-plated, finely decorated handle, and a large gold multi-leaved candlestick, all of which look very valuable.
The largest one is a golden planetarium the size of a ruby, which is constantly rotating, with the raven emblem on the sun in the center clearly visible.
Charles's favorite piece was a set of three French Gothic clocks, one clock and two candlesticks, all made of gilded bronze, a style commonly found in palace decorations.
Finally, I grabbed a few rolls of parchment that looked like deeds or bonds, sealed with Lestrange family sealing wax.
He carefully put these things into the bag.
Mission accomplished, Charles left the warehouse and locked the door again.
At that moment, two figures vanished like ghosts from the warm living room of the island villa, leaving only the fireplace flames flickering uneasily and the spatial distortions caused by the apparitions not yet completely subsided.
"Alright, it's time to go." Charles patted Ruby's head, and with a flicker of his figure, he and Ruby disappeared in a phantom teleportation.
The space returned to calm in less than half a second.
"Pfft! Pfft!"
Two violent spatial distortions erupted almost simultaneously in the hall of the seaside villa!
Jack and Grindelwald appeared instantly, their wands already poised to strike. Their sharp gazes swept across the entire hall like searchlights, and their powerful magical perception spread out like a tidal wave, enveloping every corner of the villa.
However, the hall was empty, with only a faint trace of Charles's Apparition magic remaining in the air.
Jack's eyes immediately locked onto the door of his warehouse, where the alarm was coming from.
He rushed forward, tapped his wand lightly, and the complex unlocking spell was completed in an instant, the door bursting open.
Before the door was fully open, he rushed in, his eyes scanning the shelves and boxes.
Although it looked like it was piled up full, he could tell at a glance that several items were missing from certain locations.
What's missing are the treasures he found most interesting and unique back then, the ones he planned to keep for his own future use, and the ones he helped preserve for sentimental value, as well as gifts he intended to give to Minerva—each one quite valuable.
"asshole!!"
Jack was so angry his eyebrows were trembling. He whirled around and stormed out of the storeroom, roaring at the empty hall until the chandeliers shook: "Who dares touch my pension?! Get out here!!!"
Grindelwald stood at the door of his warehouse, which was already open.
He quickly scanned the interior, his face darkening. His greatest loss was a rare celestial globe forged by fairies; the others, though not as valuable as Jack's, were still personal treasures he greatly admired.
“They ran away.” Grindelwald’s voice was icy as he walked to Jack’s side.
"Run?!" Jack, remembering the treasure that had disappeared from his storeroom, felt a surge of rage rush to his head. He brandished his enormous wand and roared, "I'll dig three feet into the ground to find him! He dared to steal my pension?! I'll make him regret ever being born!!"
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, especially when he thought about how his hard-earned retirement money had been stolen by an unknown thief. He felt a tightness in his chest and his hatred for the thief was almost overwhelming.
He gritted his teeth and vowed to make that audacious fellow pay a terrible price!
“Go check the surveillance footage!” Jack suddenly remembered that Charles had mentioned installing a surveillance system here before.
The monitoring room is on the top floor, in the room furthest to the side. The clue to unlocking the spell on the door is the phone number for 3 Privet Drive, complete with the area code, which is no problem for Jack.
Inside, the shelves against the wall are filled with crystal balls, each labeled with its location. Instructions for use are also posted on the wall. A shelf is thoughtfully installed on the table in the middle to prevent the crystal balls from rolling, and a thick carpet is laid on the floor to prevent them from breaking.
Jack took the crystal ball from the lobby, placed it on the shelf, and retrieved the surveillance footage.
The two fell silent.
Grindelwald said expressionlessly, "Your grandson."
After a moment of silence, Jack said, "I found it."
