death of hope

Chapter 991 "Psionic Storm" Drizzt Darkmoon

Chapter 991 "Psionic Storm" (65) Drizzt Darkmoon
Drizzt Darkmoon walked through the deep, dark underground corridors of the Psionic Research Institute.
The aesthetically unappealing gray cement walls, the cold and glaring LED light strips, and the rough artificial marble floors...

Furthermore, the ubiquitous surveillance cameras and the fluorescent 'Warning' signs all contribute to an extremely oppressive atmosphere.

Four fully armed corporate warriors, plus an anti-psym expert, accompanied him; more accurately, five humans were escorting a dangerous Eldar to their destination.

Due to the suppression of their psionic energy, the Eldar walked heavily and were listless. Accompanied by flickering light and shadow, their memories of a lifetime flashed by like a revolving lantern.
·
Drizzt Darkmoon comes from a distinguished family; he is a member of the Eldar royal family of Aiden Ark and a direct descendant of the Darkmoon family.
From a young age, he displayed a rebellious and unruly nature.
Drizzt loathed his malicious relatives, despised the extravagant and decadent salon banquets on the top deck, and loathed his sycophantic lackeys.

Drizzt felt deep sympathy for the serfs and laborers living on the lower decks of their homeship, the Ark of Aiden.

Many years ago, at a salon banquet, a low-caste serf spilled a few drops of wine while pouring it.
Drizzt's cousin, Prince Falton Darkmoon, skillfully pulled out his whip and lashed the poor man mercilessly, tearing his skin and drawing blood. The prince glanced at the few drops of expensive wine spilled on the ground, still not satisfied.
He then ordered his guards to tie up the serf along with her husband and children and throw them into the zoo to be fed to the wild animals.

Drizzt, unable to bear such violence, punched his cousin in the cheek. The drunken Prince Falton, enraged, threw his glove at him and demanded a duel with a pistol.

The hot-blooded young Drizzt ignored the advice of others and, in a moment of impulsiveness, threw down his gloves and agreed.

In the botanical garden outside the banquet hall, two drunken young noblemen staggered, barely able to stand. The prince couldn't even find the safety on his pistol; perhaps it was muscle memory from practicing his marksmanship so well, or perhaps it was divine intervention.

Drizzt's poison crystal pistol pierced his cousin's heart with pinpoint accuracy, spraying blood everywhere. Terrified, he instantly sobered up and, with the help of his friends, escaped the pursuit, boarding a shuttle to flee the Mothership and begin his life on the run.

·
From then on, the Aiden Ark lost a noble young master, and the space journey gained an Eldar ranger bounty hunter nicknamed "Pointy Ears," who was plagued by bad luck ever since.

During a disastrous interstellar voyage, the navigator on a passenger plane got drunk, causing a space-warping failure. The flight was lost in a terrifying alternate dimension for months, and passengers and crew were attacked and killed by indescribable alien monsters.
Tristana, possessing powerful psychic abilities and physical skills, survived, but even after escaping the terrifying alternate dimension and returning to the physical universe, hope remained elusive.
The spaceship, having lost power, drifts in the dark universe, and once it runs out of air and food, it will surely perish.

In desperation, Twisted Fate spotted an icon on the radar and immediately sent an SOS signal for help. Soon, a red-painted spaceship with gold star patterns arrived like an angel descending from the heavens.
The crew on board were mostly friendly and enthusiastic young humans. They rescued Drizzt, provided him with food and clean water, salvaged some ship parts, and then sped away.
The reason for the haste was that the ship was being pursued by the Terra Human Federation Navy and the company fleet. Even though it was in dire straits, it still responded to the SOS distress signal, demonstrating its kind nature.

·
Drizzt was naturally extremely grateful, but these people were in a precarious situation in the human world, and their reputation was mixed.

They were a group of wanted criminals, dangerous individuals, whom anthropologists called—Kanmyists.

In the days that followed, the thoughts of the Eldar fugitives and the alien beings among humans sparked incredible ideas.
Drizzt, who was inherently righteous and sympathetic to the downtrodden, found himself instantly drawn to these passionate and rebellious young humans, and they chatted amiably.

The crew wasn't all human; the ship's navigator was actually a fellow countrywoman of Drizzt's—Miss Fantine, a serf from the Ark of Aiden.

In the Ark's caste system, Fantine belonged to the lowest 'Dalit' class and could only do jobs such as cleaning toilets and repairing and maintaining the Ark's sewer pipes. The higher-caste lords would beat and torture her if they were slightly displeased.

Fantine's master lost money gambling and sold her to slave traders to recoup his losses. A group of guerrillas raided the slave market, and that's how she gained her freedom.

This Eldar girl naturally joined the organization, and using her racial talent (psychic powers), became the ship's navigator.

During the voyage, Fantine taught Drizzt to speak the common language of humans and also taught him human musical instruments.
Drizzt played the accordion terribly and sang off-key, which made the crew burst into laughter and added a lot of fun to the journey.
