After receiving an affirmative look from Lin Beichen, the boss continued, "I have indeed made enemies recently, so I suspect that the fire was set by my enemies... Do you think they might come after me again?"

Even though the boss was usually carefree, he unconsciously clenched his fists when talking about it.

Even though he pretended not to be afraid, the three people present could still sense his tension and fear.

Xu Wei and Chen Jiale both looked up at Lin Beichen at the same time, and saw that his icy expression seemed to have softened a little.

At this moment, Chen Jiale moved closer, patted his shoulder, and said firmly, "Don't worry, we're here for you."

Xu Wei chimed in, "Yeah, didn't you say we're friends? I definitely won't let you get hurt."

"You guys..." The boss was somewhat taken aback.

He did consider these people as friends, but he didn't expect them to feel the same way about him.

After this series of events, the boss had some reservations, but he only casually expressed his concern.

Unexpectedly, these two were even more concerned than he was. Although Lin Beichen always seemed unapproachable, he knew that beneath that cold exterior beat a passionate heart.

"What's wrong with us?" Chen Jiale asked.

The boss sniffed, banishing his jumbled thoughts of emotion, and slapped his thigh excitedly, beaming, "I've decided to befriend you all! I'll take you to a bar today."

The boss's train of thought moved so fast that Xu Wei and Chen Jiale couldn't keep up for a moment. They were stunned and stared at him awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Seeing their reactions, the boss clearly misunderstood, and immediately patted his chest generously, saying, "It's on me! I'll treat you to a good drink!"

"Really?" Chen Jiale stood up excitedly.

He looked like a child who had heard there was candy to eat.

The boss nodded, and Xu Wei, who was standing next to him, also stood up and asked again, "Are you sure you want to take us to a bar? Really?"

Seeing the two of them so excited, the other person couldn't help but feel a little puzzled.

As adults, shouldn't going to bars be a normal thing? Why are they so agitated?
When he caught sight of Lin Beichen sitting to the side, he roughly understood the reason. The boss was then even more determined to take them to the bar.

“We’re all friends now, why would I take you to a bar? Don’t worry, I’ll cover all the expenses,” the owner said.

Chen Jiale was secretly delighted, but outwardly remained reserved: "Isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

"What's wrong with that? We're friends." The boss said nonchalantly.

The three of them agreed to this.

When they turned their gaze to Lin Beichen.

The other person shook their head resolutely and said firmly, "I'm not going."

He really doesn't like places like bars.

The music in the bar was deafening; Lin Beichen felt like his ears were about to explode, especially the scene on stage where scantily clad men and women were swaying and twisting together.

The mere thought of it made his scalp tingle, and he was even less willing to go there in person.

But reality is often not as we wish.

When Lin Beichen stood in the bar, he was stiff all over, as if he were in a dangerous situation.

Meanwhile, Carlos Chan and Xu Wei were having so much fun that they almost forgot their own names.

Lin Beichen sat blankly between the three of them, too lazy to move.

The drunken bar owner leaned on Lin Beichen's shoulder, held up his glass to him, and shouted, "I say, you come to a bar but don't drink? What kind of logic is that?"

Lin Beichen, however, remained expressionless, as if the boss were holding poison instead of wine.

Upon seeing this, Carlos Chan and Xu Wei instantly sobered up considerably.

They quickly took the wine from the owner's hand, smiling and saying, "Let us drink, give us some!"

Taking advantage of the moment, Lin Beichen quickly moved away from him.

As luck would have it, I bumped into a couple, but their outfits were rather unpleasant to look at.

Lin Beichen instinctively stepped aside.

The man with the thick gold chain was extremely displeased with Lin Beichen's attitude and wanted to show off in front of his new girlfriend. He pointed at Lin Beichen's nose and said fiercely, "Are you blind? Didn't you see you bumped into my darling? Don't you know how to apologize?"

Just then, the music stopped. The man's roar sounded particularly shrill.

Lin Beichen then lazily raised his eyes and glanced at him, not intending to argue with him.

The drunken boss, however, was displeased and came over.

Before he could speak, Lin Beichen quickly pulled him back, saying, "Let's go, don't bother with this kind of person."

It was unclear whether it was Lin Beichen's cold and stern gaze, or the bottles of liquor that Xu Wei and Chen Jiale were holding behind them that were intimidating.

After saying that, the man left dejectedly.

Just as the three of them had finished drinking and were about to leave, a group of people blocked their way.

The boss looked up, ready to yell at someone.

When he saw that familiar yet utterly unfamiliar face, he opened his mouth but no sound came out.

"Hey, who's this? Isn't this my ex-boyfriend I dumped?" a woman's shrill voice rang out. "I heard your guesthouse burned down too. You can't be that unlucky, can you?"

The woman was heavily made up, and the perfume she wore was so strong it made people's noses itch.

What she said was even more unbearable.

But the boss, who was known for his volatile temper, actually put up with it.

Just as he was about to go around him from the side, another man appeared. He had a slicked-back hairstyle, was shirtless, and had ferocious patterns tattooed on both arms, making him look menacing.

He draped his thick arm over the woman's shoulder.

She glanced at the boss with disdain: "Him? Your spineless ex-boyfriend?"

The boss suddenly looked up and glared at him, before he could even speak.

The woman laughed and punched his chest: "Yes, he's that good-for-nothing."

The boss clenched his fists in anger, but hadn't even defended himself.

Unexpectedly, the man gave a wink to his henchman behind him, who rushed forward without saying a word, ready to attack.

The boss, who was already seething with anger, could not tolerate such humiliation.

He started swinging his fists wildly.

Chaos erupted at the scene. How could Chen Jiale, with his fiery temper, stand by and watch his friend get beaten?

He downed his drink in one gulp, wiped his mouth, and joined the fray.

The boss, who was initially at a disadvantage, gradually reversed the situation and slowly gained the upper hand after Chen Jiale joined.

Seeing that their fight was getting more and more intense, it was clear that if it continued, something serious was bound to happen.

Lin Beichen couldn't stand it any longer, so he came over to try and pull the man away. The slick-haired man, who was already in a rage, didn't know what was good for him and punched Lin Beichen in the chaos.

Caught off guard, Lin Beichen took the blow. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, but he still forced himself not to retaliate.

But being hit by such a despicable person was a disgrace to him.

What humiliated him even more was yet to come—the man turned around and glared at him fiercely, cursing, "What are you bunch of lackeys? How dare you yell at me? I'll beat you all to a pulp today, and you won't be leaving here alive!"

Lin Beichen, who had meant well, immediately let go. He wanted to see who would end up getting beaten to a pulp.

Xu Wei rushed over and pulled Lin Beichen aside, saying gleefully, "Instructor, don't interfere. Someone like him isn't worth your time. Let Jiale teach him a lesson."

“I’m afraid Jiale will go too far,” Lin Beichen said coldly.

Xu Wei and Lin Beichen simply stood by with their arms crossed, looking on with amusement.

"Who do you think you are? Calling others lackeys? You're the lackey, your whole family are lackeys!" the boss roared.

He punched the man with the slicked-back hair in the face.

The other party let out a muffled groan and then fell silent.

Seeing this, Chen Jiale kicked him in the stomach. The massive body crashed heavily to the ground.

Everyone else present seemed to feel the excruciating pain.

Seeing that things were getting out of hand, the woman standing nearby quickly stepped forward and shouted shrilly, "Stop! Stop it! If you hit me again, I'll call the police!"

The boss, who was busy beating people up, turned around and glared at her, saying defiantly, "Then report it!"

After saying that, he threw a few more punches at the man before stopping.

The woman couldn't take it anymore and rushed forward, shoving the boss away.

Holding the man lying on the ground tightly, she glared fiercely at the boss and said with disgust, "How can you be like this? Can't I even say a few words? Look what you've done to him!"

Seeing her distressed expression, the boss felt as if a needle was pricking his heart.

He turned his face away, refusing to look at their affectionate display.

The man coughed violently.

The woman patted his back tenderly, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

A few white teeth were mixed in with the blood.

The man then covered his face, pointed at the boss, and said fiercely, "You...you knocked out my teeth! You!"

He struggled to stand up, but failed several times.

The woman couldn't bear to see him in such a sorry state. After settling the man in, she stood up, pointed at the boss's nose, and yelled, "You coward! What are you doing showing off here? Stop embarrassing yourself! You're just unhappy because you see me with him, aren't you? Come and hit me if you dare!"

The woman took several steps closer as she spoke.

"Try saying that again? Just because he didn't hit you doesn't mean I won't," Xu Wei said fiercely from the side.

He simply couldn't stand the woman's arrogant attitude.

Seeing that Xu Wei was no pushover, and then glancing at Lin Beichen beside him, who was even more formidable, the woman slunk away.

Seeing that their boss had slipped away, the man's henchmen saw no need to stay any longer and scurried off after him.

After the commotion, the bar suddenly fell silent.

The men and women were at a loss for what to do, and just stared at the disheveled boss as if watching a play.

The owner is a regular customer here, and many people know him.

Those who know his past deeds, seeing him in his current state, are unsure whether to pity him or mock him.

The boss was completely dumbfounded, his earlier arrogance gone, replaced by a helpless look as if he had fallen into a cold abyss as he gazed at Xu Wei and the others.

Xu Wei and Chen Jiale walked quickly closer, and Xu Wei nervously took Chen Jiale's arm and said, "Are you alright? Let's go."

When the two men touched the boss's arm, he instinctively pulled his arm away. Only after recognizing them did he manage a weak smile: "I'm fine, I'm perfectly alright."

However, the two men clearly did not believe him.

Under the questioning gazes of the two men, the boss even flashed them a big smile, raised his arm and shook it: "Look at me, my arms and legs can still move, I'm really fine, the one who's in trouble is that guy."

Xu Wei remained silent—he wasn't referring to whether his boss was injured, but rather to his own feelings.

Unable to bear Xu Wei's worried gaze any longer, the boss waved his hand and walked away, saying, "Oh dear, let's go back. We've had enough to drink today."

The owner, who was forcing a smile in the bar just a moment ago, became a completely different person after stepping out of the bar; the corners of his mouth that were upturned turned down.

He started to look miserable again, and Xu Wei realized that he must have been putting on a brave face earlier.

"Xu Wei, did you see that woman's face? We've only been apart for a short time, and she's already hooked up with that kind of man." The boss said with a smile that looked more like a grimace.

Xu Wei could only look at him awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Perhaps at this moment, the boss doesn't need anyone's comfort; he just wants to vent his inner frustration.

Seeing that Xu Wei remained silent, the boss turned to Chen Jiale beside him and said indignantly, "Tell me, what is that man better than me? What do I lack compared to him? Why do you think she treated me like this?"

"Me? I..." Chen Jiale stammered for a long time, unable to come up with a coherent answer.

He's always been oblivious to things and doesn't care much about romantic relationships, and this boss is equally oblivious, actually asking him about these things.

Seeing that Chen Jiale remained silent, the boss excitedly grabbed his arm and shook it repeatedly, complaining, "Tell me, tell me, what is it about me that I can't compare to that fatso? I'm so good to her, I never argue with her, I give her whatever she wants right away, so why does she want to leave me?"

Seeing his expression, Chen Jiale quickly nodded: "Yes, yes, she's blind. She'll definitely regret it later if she doesn't like you."

But the boss was not satisfied with his reaction and continued shaking.

Chen Jiale had no choice but to nod in agreement: "Yes, yes, you're right. How can that man compare to you? She's just blind."

"She's no good either! She broke up with me for that guy this time, but she'll dump him for another man next time. She might be even worse off than me then!" the boss said angrily.

Even so, he still couldn't vent his anger. He then dragged Xu Wei and Chen Jiale to a roadside barbecue stall.

Lin Beichen followed behind them with a dark expression, regretting his actions to the core.

If I hadn't gone to the bar in the first place, I wouldn't have been dragged to the roadside to eat barbecue in the middle of the night.

The problem is that the barbecue was sizzling with black smoke, which made it look unappetizing.

But in the eyes of the owners, this barbecue is a top-notch delicacy.

The three of them each had a bottle of beer and some grilled skewers. After a few bottles, their cheeks turned slightly red, and they were on the verge of getting drunk.

"Why do people need to date? Isn't being single good enough?" the boss muttered.

Xu Wei and Chen Jiale had their mouths full and didn't have time to pay attention to him.

Standing to the side, Lin Beichen saw that it was getting late and, seeing their drunken state, was afraid that they would cause more trouble.

Lin Beichen was about to pull them back when he heard the customers at the next table arguing with the barbecue stall owner. (End of Chapter)
