Chapter 1503 The Thin Line of Life and Death
The air was torn apart by the helmet, producing a muffled groan.
This throw embodied all the fear, anger, and desperate madness in his soul!
"Get out of my way! Monster!"
With a destructive resolve, the helmet pierced through the thick darkness, hurtling straight for its target!
However, reality is cold and cruel.
The long whip of flesh and blood, suspended in mid-air, suddenly activated at a speed that exceeded the limits of human visual perception when the helmet was halfway through its flight!
There was no wind, no warning, only a blurry afterimage tearing through the air!
The afterimage was not a straight line, but rather drew an extremely tiny, tricky arc in the air, as precise as if it had undergone the most rigorous ballistic calculations.
In the dim light of the passage, the bone blade at the end, like the scythe of death, flashed with a cold, fleeting glint!
"Tsk-!"
A sharp, teeth-grinding sound, like the toughest canvas being instantly sliced open by a sharp razor!
The heavy engineering plastic helmet was as fragile as an inflated balloon in the face of that incredibly fast, cold glint.
It didn't even put up much resistance before it was cleanly and neatly split in two!
The crack was as smooth as a mirror. The two broken plastic shells, under the force of great inertia, spun and slammed into the walls on both sides of the passage with two muffled thuds. They hit the cold cement covered with mold, bounced off the ground, rolled, made hollow sounds, and scattered fragments everywhere.
The cold light that tore through the helmet followed a trajectory without the slightest pause!
It continued forward as if slicing through the air, carrying the terrifying kinetic energy and sharpness left after cleaving through the helmet!
The moment the helmet slipped from his hand, Hachiman Hikigaya's defensive instincts took over his body.
Almost reflexively, he flexed his left arm sharply and held it horizontally in front of his chest and abdomen—the most instinctive self-defense posture humans adopt in the face of danger.
In the next fraction of a second, a cold touch, like the tongue of a venomous snake, licked the outside of his left forearm!
There was no violent collision, only an extremely brief and subtle sensation, like being gently touched by a cold scalpel.
Immediately afterwards, a searing, excruciating pain, as if the molten lava inside my body had suddenly found an outlet, exploded out from the point of contact!
The pain was so intense and penetrating that his brain couldn't even analyze its source for a moment. He only felt an irresistible numbness mixed with a devastating burning sensation, which instantly spread wildly upwards along the nerves in his left arm and crashed into the depths of his consciousness!
"Ugh—!"
A suppressed groan, squeezed out from deep in his throat, burst forth, but even faster than the sound was the sudden spray of warm, scarlet blood in his vision!
Blood gushed out from the smooth cut on the arm as if propelled by a suddenly released pressure pump, leaving a glaring, fleeting red arc in the dimly lit passage.
Hot blood, like dense raindrops, carrying a strong, rusty stench, splattered onto his face, contorted in agony, onto his wide-open eyelids, and even a few drops of warm liquid splashed directly into his mouth, which was agape in a scream, instantly filling his tongue with a strong, nauseatingly salty stench.
This is just the beginning!
The terrifying trajectory of that bone blade did not stop after it sliced through the arm!
It was like the sigh of death, carrying the warm blood that had stained the flesh and bones after cutting through them, with an unstoppable sharpness, it continued forward, gently kissing the flesh below his left chest, on the outer edge of his ribs!
"Sizzle—" This time, it was a more muffled, slippery, and terrifying sound of flesh being forcibly torn apart.
Hachiman Hikigaya felt as if a red-hot iron had pierced through his chest and abdomen!
It was no longer the relatively "clear" cutting pain in the arm, but a suffocating dull and sharp pain that was a mixture of organs being squeezed and the edges of the tear being forcibly widened.
The force crashed into his body, causing his frail body, which was still rushing forward, to stagger backward like a kite with a broken string!
Unable to maintain his balance on the slippery ground, he fell backward.
My vision swayed and spun violently under the impact of the excruciating pain.
The few old, dimly lit lamps at the top of the corridor stretched into blurry bands of light in his distorted vision.
A sharp, incessant buzzing filled my ears, the agonizing wail of nerves in excruciating pain, almost drowning out my heavy, disordered breathing and the chilling hissing sound from the monster's throat, like a venomous snake flicking its tongue.
He fell heavily to the ground, his back slamming violently against the hard, cold cement floor, the impact so severe it felt as if his internal organs had shifted, and he saw stars before his eyes.
The viscous water, mixed with dirt and unidentified slime, instantly soaked through the clothes on his back, chilling him to the bone, creating a hellish temperature difference with the burning pain in his chest and left arm.
The icy mud and scalding blood mixed together, sticking to his back.
The will to survive flickered like a candle in the wind, swaying wildly under the double attack of excruciating pain and icy cold.
His only remaining right arm scratched futilely in the muddy water beside him, trying to find anything to lean on for support. His fingernails scraped against the rough, cold cement, making a harsh "crunching" sound, and soon a piercing pain shot through his fingertips.
Each spasm caused by excruciating pain pulled at the long wound on his chest, bringing a new, tearing pain. Cold sweat mixed with mud soaked through the hair on his forehead.
The terrifying whip, made of flesh and skin, was now hovering less than a meter above his body.
The two murky eyes embedded in the middle of the whip were looking down at him with a chilling and greedy gaze that could freeze one's blood, like a butcher scrutinizing a helpless piece of meat on a chopping board.
At the tip of the bone blade, a thick, dark red drop of blood was slowly gathering and elongating, shimmering with an ominous luster under the dim light.
Finally, the drop of blood could no longer bear its own weight and quietly dripped down.
"despair."
A faint, almost imperceptible sound.
The drop of blood landed precisely on Hachiman Hikigaya's face, which was contorted with pain and chilled with fear.
It was viscous, warm, and carried a strong, unique life force of its own.
Deep within the icy passage, the suffocating hissing sound from the monster's throat suddenly rose, becoming more rapid and more thirsty, like countless hungry maggots wriggling and gnawing wildly deep within the decaying wood.
Are you going to die here?
Hachiman Hikigaya struggled to open his eyes wide.
