Chapter 610 The People in the Oil Painting Have Emerged

Chapter 610 The People in the Oil Painting Have Emerged
The lights went out, and everyone descended into chaos.

The actors remained standing still, but Han Fei clearly heard footsteps.

He looked in the direction the footsteps were coming from and saw something standing behind the door of the emergency exit.

Reaching out, Han Fei touched the cell phone that the production team had given to everyone. He then suddenly raised the phone and used its built-in flashlight to shine it into the safety passage.

The light pierced the darkness, revealing a woman's face behind the glass of the security door.

"Ah!"

Arlene, who was standing next to Han Fei, also saw the face. She screamed in fright and stumbled backward, bumping into Xiao Chen.

The celebrities were in complete disarray, a stark contrast to their usual on-screen personas. Only Han Fei truly maintained his "police informant" persona.

"What are you yelling for!" Xiao Chen was also startled. He had almost pushed A-Lin away, and his hand was already raised when he suddenly realized that this was a variety show. In order to maintain his image, he held back.

"A ghost! It's right behind the emergency exit! It's a woman's face!" Arlene screamed, covering her face. She gave the most genuine reaction, which was exactly what Tang Yi wanted.

"It's all fake. Tang Yi is a master at making fakes look real." Bai Cha tried to remain calm: "What ghosts are there in this world?"

The actress named Li Huang also realized what was happening. She took out her phone to shine a light and looked at Han Fei with some confusion: "How did you know there was someone behind that door? I saw you shine the light there without hesitation."

"I heard footsteps." Han Fei walked towards the stairwell with his phone in hand. "That woman's face was strange, not quite like a ghost."

"You could see it clearly in just a moment?" Li Huang asked, puzzled. After a moment, she realized something even more terrifying: "What do you mean by 'not quite like a ghost'? Have you ever seen a ghost?"

"Never seen it before." Han Fei walked to the emergency exit, opened it, and saw that there was more blood on the floor. "I'm going upstairs to check. Do you want to come with me?"

"I want to quit!" Arlene was terrified. As a popular singer, this was her first time participating in a variety show, and she never expected to encounter this situation.

Actually, many friends tried to dissuade her before she came, but she was very ambitious and wanted to use Tang Yi's new variety show to boost her popularity.

"It's not too late to quit now, but later you might not be able to quit even if you want to." Han Fei seemed to be a plant by the production team, but he was telling the truth because he knew that this place might really be haunted.

"I..." Arlene hesitated for a moment, took out her phone to call her manager, but was surprised to find that the phones provided by the production team had no signal, and their own phones had been taken away by the production team before entering the venue: "What's going on? Why don't the phones provided by the production team have a signal?! This is too much!"

“Our cell phones have no signal in the storyline. Tang Yi is doing his best to recreate it and wants to create the most realistic reality show.” Li Huang checked the phone as soon as she got it. She thought everyone knew: “Ah Lin, this show has now gathered all the conditions to become a hit. As long as we escape successfully or become regular guests, it will be very beneficial to our future development. So I think you should just bear with it.”

Arlene finally listened to Li Huang, turned on her phone's flashlight, and squeezed next to Li Huang.

"Don't be afraid," Bai Cha tried to comfort Alin. "Do you think Tang Yi would really hurt you? Would he dare to do that?"

Arlene shook her head and wiped away her tears.

“That’s right. Since you won’t get hurt, you’re invincible in this scenario. You don’t need to be afraid of murderers or ghosts.” Bai Cha walked up to Arlene with a cool demeanor. “Just treat this as a rather unconventional reality show.”

"A reality show?" Han Fei looked at Bai Cha with a smile: "I think it would be better to call it a ghost show. You guys should not think of yourselves as the main characters. We are just a few outsiders."

"What do you want to say?" Bai Cha and Han Fei were at loggerheads, and Bai Cha felt that Han Fei was just looking for trouble.

"I was afraid you'd die without knowing why, so I kindly reminded you." Han Fei said no more, took his phone and entered the emergency exit. He looked at the blood-stained footprints on the ground: "Judging from the shoe prints, they look like a pair of women's shoes. She ran underground."

Han Fei kicked open the door leading to the basement and went down the steps.

The walls on the basement floor are painted with some cute cartoon characters and various oil paintings of children playing.

The innocent scenes and the dilapidated buildings create a stark contrast. The children's smiling faces are facing a large number of medicine packaging bags, discarded syringes, and blood-stained clothes changed by patients on the ground.

"The person who designed this scene is a psychopath!" Wu Li muttered to himself.

"Is it possible that this scene originally existed?" Han Fei followed the trail of blood, pushing open door after door, and kicking open those that couldn't be pushed open.

Amidst the thumping sounds, the others gradually grew bolder.

"You're rudely damaging the game props and scenes. You'll be getting a lot of flak from the audience after the show airs," Bai Cha said with a cold laugh as she followed behind the group.

Moving forward, Han Fei seemed less like he was participating in a program and more like he was conducting a "publicly funded investigation."

With six tanks protecting him, he could safely search the entire building and go wherever he wanted. Even if hatred came over him, he only needed to run faster than his teammates.

"If we can find out something this time, maybe I can cooperate with Tang Yi in the future and have him arrange the filming location in the place I want to investigate."

As they delved deeper, Han Fei also made discoveries.

This underground level is very similar to the underground level of the White Orphanage in the Deep World, the only difference being that there are many more rooms for raising children.

"The children of the wealthy are waiting on the surface to undergo personality modification, while the helpless orphans are being cultivated into various different personalities underground, like commodities to be chosen by others. This is truly insane." Han Fei felt that the Immortal Life Pharmaceuticals had really researched something terrifying, and that he might be getting closer and closer to those bizarre things in the future.

Reaching the end of the corridor, Han Fei opened the door to the last room. Inside the children's playroom, converted from a ward, was a rusty iron cage containing a prop of a festering heart.

"The iron cage is locked, and there are words written in blood below." Han Fei shone his phone light on the ground: "Your love is like a cage that imprisons a bird to me. I want to leave, but you threaten to smash me and the cage together."

"Inside the security room, there's an iron cage under Bai Cha's photo. This decryption should require Bai Cha's help." Wu Li looked at Bai Cha: "Does your script contain any clues related to this scene?"

"It seems so. In the script, I'm a very controlling person who's naturally disliked by small animals. To prevent them from escaping from me, I always like to put them in cages." Bai Cha walked around the iron cage and noticed that the welded iron cage had the names of various animals written on it: "What does this mean?"

Bai Cha is now the protagonist. He needs to rely on something from his script to open the iron cage and take out the arm.

At this moment, he was calm and handsome, but unfortunately, he wasn't very smart, and he was using his clumsy acting skills to cover up his confusion.

After waiting for about five or six minutes, Han Fei suddenly smelled a very faint smell of paint. The smell was very strange, as if blood was mixed in with the paint.

Turning to look outside the room, in the gloomy corridor, a round ball fell from the wall, and then a short figure stepped out from behind the wall and picked up the ball again.

"Were these paintings done by the painters before? Could it be that all the paintings in the building were done by the painters?"

Han Fei would never dare to come to such a dangerous place by himself, but the production team solved a big problem for him.

The blurry black figure holding the ball seemed to have lost its way. Instead of returning to the wall, it curiously headed upstairs.

"There's no time for playing house here," Han Fei said to Bai Cha. "Are you even capable?"

"I'm thinking about it, and I'll have the results soon!" Bai Cha stubbornly insisted.

"Then tell me, what are your thoughts now? What's your approach to solving the problem? What did you recall through these animals?" Han Fei stood in front of Bai Cha: "Tell me the information from your script, and I'll help you analyze it."

"I..." Bai Cha blushed and couldn't say a word for a long time.

"Luckily you have a good-looking face, otherwise I don't know what you could do." Han Fei gripped the iron cage with both hands and shook it slightly. Tang Yi's props were very sturdy, but they were still not enough against Han Fei's strength.

The secured iron cage was knocked over, and Han Fei walked outside holding the two arms.

"Hey! With your recklessness, what kind of entertainment is this?!" Bai Cha shouted at Han Fei.

"Want some entertainment? We'll have plenty later." Han Fei returned to the first floor with the severed hand in his hand. "Since Tang Yi wants to pursue absolute authenticity, I'll show him with my actions that real investigation has no constraints, and everything can be used. He should be able to understand that."

"Understand my foot! Boss Tang might be going berserk right now on the other side of the screen!"

"He made the rules, but I'm the one playing the game." Han Fei pushed open the emergency exit door and noticed the lights in front of the elevator had come back on: "The lights are on again?"

The long-awaited light shone on the group, and the actors quickly ran out of the emergency exit, as if there were some man-eating monsters in the stairwell.

"Who's going in to deliver it this time?" Wu Li was terrified when he entered the elevator last time, so he was determined not to go in this time.

"I'll do it." Han Fei looked at the lights above the elevator, which went out again after he approached.

Arlene screamed and lay down next to Li Huang. The other actors, however, were prepared and held up their phones for light.

Pressing the elevator button, the dilapidated door slowly opened, and a pungent smell of paint wafted out. The broken elevator car was covered with the word "death" written in red paint!

The grotesque handwriting, combined with the bloody, dripping red paint, looked like human faces.

"Holy crap!" Wu Li swore for the first time on a variety show. It was so shocking; the bloody scene was terrifying to the core.

"It's only been a few minutes, and the elevator car looks like this now?" Li Huang covered her mouth and nose; she was very uncomfortable with the smell of paint.

Several celebrities huddled in the back, while Han Fei stood alone at the elevator entrance.

“He’s right here, very close to me.” Han Fei threw the two severed arms props into the elevator car. After a while, a faint red light appeared on the elevator display screen, followed by the number “4”.

"Is this the floor number? Are we being directed to the fourth floor?" Looking at the dismembered limbs on the ground, Han Fei frowned slightly. "If Tang Yi has arranged individual shots and decryption for each person, it will take a long time just to piece together the prop corpse in this elevator. It seems we can only resort to a more brute-force method."

After the elevator doors closed, Han Fei was about to head to the fourth floor when his pupils suddenly contracted, and his gaze became fixed on the actors.

"What's wrong, brother? Don't look at us like that!" Wu Li felt the pressure of Han Fei's gaze for the first time.

"One person is missing." Han Fei pointed to the end of the line: "Xia Yilan is gone!"

Just as everyone's attention was drawn to the word "death" inside the elevator, Xia Yilan disappeared.

"She didn't make a sound, so she must have left on her own. Perhaps the director gave her a special identity." Li Huang was still trying to think in a way that humans could understand.

"Why her of all people?" Han Fei used the light from his phone to find nothing of value left by Xia Yilan. It was as if she had just disappeared while walking.

"We need to speed things up, Xia Yilan might be in trouble!" Han Fei knew Xia Yilan had a problem, but before he could figure out what had happened to her, he didn't want her to die like this.

After searching again, the group still couldn't find Xia Yilan, so they had no choice but to follow the directions to the fourth floor.

"Strange, isn't this a plastic surgery clinic? Why are there drawings of children playing all over the walls?" Even Xiao Chen, the most oblivious person, noticed the anomaly: "I have a feeling someone is following us. Is it Xia Yilan?"

“There’s no reason for her to follow us!” Arlene grabbed Li Huang’s clothes. Because she was the most timid, she walked alongside Li Huang at the very back of the group.

After hearing Xiao Chen's words, she looked behind her. The abandoned building was extremely dark, and it seemed that something was really moving in the darkness.

Arlene's eyes were a little uncomfortable from crying. She focused her attention on the corner of the corridor, where a round ball slowly rolled out from the second-floor corridor.

"ball?"

A moment later, another little boy came out, picked up the ball from the ground, and then seemed to notice Arlene.

The child slowly turned around, holding the ball, and looked at Arlene.

Why would Tang Yi bring a child over?

Before she could figure out why, another child suddenly walked out from around the corner of the corridor.

The child walked unsteadily, groping in the dark with his hands. His neck was bald, and he seemed to be looking for his head.

I've been quite busy during the day these past few days, and I haven't been feeling my best. I'll start writing early tomorrow and try to get back to writing twice a day.
