Chapter 639 The Child Who Was Abandoned Once
Chapter 639 The Child Abandoned Eleven Times
The cat, covered in wounds, was very attached to Han Fei, which indirectly suggests that Han Fei might indeed be the owner of that underground room.
The memories are gone, but the pet that once shared the room with Han Fei still remembers his scent. He is still himself, unchanged.
"It's a pity that cats can't talk and can't tell me what happened in the past."
Han Fei stroked the cat's head: "If you were really a cat raised by a serial killer, then you would definitely be a ferocious beast that grew up drinking human blood and eating human flesh. You wouldn't be so ugly, cute, and weak."
Seemingly understanding Han Fei's words, the cat bared its teeth and then lay down on its side beside Han Fei's legs, as if making that fierce expression had exhausted all its strength.
"Surprisingly weak."
Han Fei had given up hope of getting any information from the cat, but the cat was still putting on a great show.
In Li Guo'er's underground prison, Han Fei ate and slept, sleeping and eating, spending the most comfortable twenty-four hours.
Judging by the time, it was probably getting dark when Han Fei heard hurried footsteps overhead. Not long after, Li Guo'er ran into the underground prison.
"Put your clothes on and come with me right now!" Li Guo'er took out a key, unlocked the lock on Han Fei's wrist, and then threw the suit of the man in black from last night to Han Fei: "Put on your mask, we need to leave before dark!"
"What happened?"
“The stories in your script are all true.” Li Guo’er looked at Han Fei with lingering fear and said slowly, “I saw a ghost.”
"Can you tell me what a ghost looks like?"
"It seems to be following me, so let's stop talking nonsense and get out of here as soon as possible!"
The chains fell to the ground, and Han Fei put on a pure black suit, but he didn't really want to wear the smiling mask: "Could I wear a hood or something?"
"Stop talking nonsense! Follow me!" Li Guo'er seemed to have known this day would come. She removed a wooden board and took out a backpack inside: "When we go out later, if someone calls your name or asks you to turn around, do not do what they say."
"Okay." Han Fei changed into new clothes, blending perfectly with the darkness. These clothes seemed to suit him even better.
After tidying up his backpack, Han Fei put the cat inside again.
“Keep your cat under control. If it makes a sound, I’ll throw it out immediately.” Li Guo’er’s expression was cold and stern, but when her gaze fell upon Han Fei, who was dressed in a black suit and holding a smiling mask, she paused slightly. The man before her exuded a dangerous allure: “You’re not bad looking.”
Was that the reason you liked me?
I really want to lock you in a cage.
Should I feel honored?
"Do as you please." Li Guo'er looked at the amnesiac Han Fei and found that she actually got along very well with a person with a mental illness, which made her start to wonder if there was something wrong with her brain as well.
Pushing aside the barrier, Li Guo'er climbed out of the underground cell. She waved to Han Fei, and the two returned to the surface together.
“This old house used to belong to another player in the game. After he was murdered, I stayed here and became the new owner of this old house.” Li Guo’er opened the back door of the house and signaled Han Fei to speed up: “Let’s hurry up and find a new hiding place before it gets dark.”
“If you’re followed by a ghost, no matter where you run, it will find you…” After hearing Li Guo’er’s words, Han Fei’s memory seemed to be touched, and a few scattered points of light flashed through his mind. A voice also faintly echoed in the depths of his mind.
"Are you sure?" Li Guo'er was clearly flustered.
"I vaguely remember it being like this." Han Fei couldn't quite hear what the voice in his mind was saying, but he had a strange feeling that he could gain benefits by following the voice's guidance: "Which script did the ghost you saw during the day belong to?"
"The eleventh story—Number Eleven—takes place in a building very close to the park, so I chose this one."
Han Fei flipped through the script and read it again.
"The child number eleven is cute and very lovable. He has been adopted by many people, but has also been abandoned by many people. All the families that have adopted him say that he is very well-behaved and sensible, and there is not a single negative comment. However, everyone has tacitly chosen to abandon him. No matter what the cost is, those adults who have adopted him will send the orphan number eleven back to the welfare home."
"As the eleventh child grew up, he possessed a handsome face, a gentle personality, and excellent grades that none of the other orphans had. He was the most obedient child in the welfare home."
"When this child was eleven years old, he was adopted for the eleventh time, and since then there has been no news about him."
"Some say the child was accidentally killed by his adoptive father, some say the child was actually a monster who never grew up, and others say the child harbored intense hatred and resentment, calling him a living ghost."
"In order to find out the truth, I entered the old house where he used to live on November 11th."
“There I learned something: the line between humans and ghosts can sometimes be very blurry. If you want to touch them, you have to try to touch that most dangerous line yourself first.”
This story is long and quite detailed, and it reveals a lot of information.
"Finding the boundary between humans and ghosts should be the key. What could that boundary be?" As Han Fei pondered this, a crack suddenly appeared on a window behind him. As the temperature inside the room dropped, the crack slowly widened, as if a face was pressed against the window, constantly trying to squeeze into the room!
"Quick, let's go! It's catching up!" Li Guo'er pushed open the back door and dragged Han Fei out with her.
During his escape, Han Fei looked back at the window, where the glass had inexplicably shattered, shards of glass scattered all over the ground.
"Did you take something from it? Strange guests have stayed at my house before, but they don't seem to leave." Han Fei asked, somewhat puzzled.
“I’m curious about the feng shui of your house, but now is not the time to talk about that.” Li Guo’er took out two invitations from her pocket: “I didn’t go into that building to check it out myself. I just sold the information to other game participants. I don’t know what those two unlucky guys did inside. When I went in to collect the invitations, I was inexplicably targeted by him.”
"Can't I even throw away the invitation?"
"I've tried it, it didn't work."
As darkness fell, things began to deteriorate further as night completely enveloped the city.
“According to the script, we must find the boundary between humans and ghosts in order to contact them, communicate with them, or fight against them.” Han Fei put all his effort into his blank mind: “Do you know any other participants in the game? Let’s spread the word and take them back to that building to see what the difference is between Number Eleven and humans.”
I participated in an event out of town, so today's post is a bit short. I'll post more tomorrow.
