Chapter 641 The First Time Catching a Ghost

Chapter 641 The First Time Catching Ghosts

The unfortunate children seemed to have all moved into an apartment building called Happiness, where every building standing in the darkness sang their favorite songs, lulling them to sleep and weaving their dreams.

Han Fei lingered in front of Building No. 1 for a long time, his heart seemingly already inside the dark building entrance.

"My home should be here, so why are all the lights off?"

Han Fei's gaze gradually moved upwards, looking at each and every household.

The mere words "Apartment Building No. 1 in Happiness Community" stirred up a storm in Han Fei's blank mind.

"Hurry up! Don't linger here!" Ah Chong approached Han Fei, his tone urgent. He had a good first impression of the man in front of him, as if the two had been friends before.

"I..." Han Fei shook his head and walked towards the entrance of Building No. 1, but was grabbed by Ah Chong.

"Are you crazy?" Ah Chong couldn't understand Han Fei's actions at all. The other party was looking at the eerie and gloomy old building with longing in his eyes.

"Attention! Don't stray from the group!" F, wearing a trench coat, spoke coldly. Since leaving the Perfect Life B&B, he had become extremely serious and maintained a high level of vigilance towards everything around him.

F is not a reckless person; he makes decisions only after careful consideration. Once he makes a decision, he will be unwavering and determined to achieve it at any cost. In fact, such a person is very formidable.

Building 11 of Happiness Apartment is located at the very back of Happiness Community. The layout of the buildings here is quite strange. Buildings 1 through 10 are like the walls of a well, surrounding Building 11 in the middle.

To enter Building 11, you must first pass through the narrow passage between Building 1 and Building 10.

The passage, which is only a dozen meters long, looks normal from the outside, but once you go inside, you'll find that it's like a bridge connecting the human world and the underworld.

The entire city was shrouded in darkness, but the sky above the residential area at the end of the passage seemed to be a dark red.

Walking through the passage, the old walls on both sides seem ready to squeeze in at any moment and crush the person in the middle into a meat patty.

Strange shouts would constantly echo in my ears, as if my past self was screaming loudly, not wanting me to move forward.

What's even stranger is that the passage is clearly not very long, and the exit is right in front of you if you walk forward, but if you look back, the entrance you came from seems to be a hundred meters away.

“That entrance seems to move backward on its own; it’s a one-way street!” A thin woman took her hand out of her pocket; she had a little ghost drawn on her palm, suggesting she was a rather unprofessional spiritual medium.

"Since we can't go back, let's speed things up and move forward." F was very calm; his composure wasn't feigned, and his eyes were constantly calculating something.

“When I came here during the day, the neighborhood was completely different. There were people playing chess in the passageway, people collecting laundry in the courtyard, children playing, and all sorts of everyday life.” Li Guo’er walked at the front. She was the most afraid now, as she could clearly feel that things had changed.

It wasn't just one building that changed; the entire neighborhood seemed to have fallen into hell, and everything had changed.

Stepping out of the passage, Han Fei looked up and saw that the night sky had turned dark red, the dark clouds seemed to have been dismembered, and fine wounds all over his body were oozing blood.

“If you say this place is haunted, I’ll definitely believe you. The question is, do we have the ability to catch ghosts?” said a man following behind the bald prisoner. He was the prisoner’s henchman, a big, burly man, but not very brave.

“If we never try to see ghosts, we’ll never find a way to deal with them.” F glanced at the man. “I hope you understand that to accomplish something, you have to pay a price. For the final result, you and I can both be the price.”

"Stop arguing, let's get ready to go inside, keep quiet." Li Guo'er pulled Han Fei to her side. She felt that Han Fei was more reliable, and she couldn't completely trust the others.

Pushing open the rusty stairwell door, with a creak, all the game participants officially entered the Happy Apartment.

"The description in the script is so different from this place." Han Fei stood in the crowd, his damned paranoia acting up again, this time more intense than ever before. He felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest.

"Are you feeling unwell?" the only female player asked, drawing little ghosts with her hands, her pupils throbbing uneasily beneath her mask.

Han Fei did not answer. His gaze swept over the red-painted stair railing, the yellowed walls of the stairwell, and the steps covered with those kinds of small advertisements.

The fear intensified, but he couldn't find the object of his fear.

He knew that staying there would likely lead to his death, but he didn't know what would kill him.

"It seems there's something wrong with my ability to foresee death."

Li Guo'er, who was walking at the front, had already reached the second floor. Her face was covered by a mask, so no one could see her expression, but everyone could guess her inner unease from her hesitant steps.

Every step must be carefully considered, as if one wrong step would lead to utter ruin.

The players behind them took out high-powered flashlights and stun guns from their backpacks. They were very well prepared, but as soon as they took those things out, Li Guo'er hurriedly urged them to turn off the high-powered flashlights.

Lighting a fire in the dark jungle can ward off wild animals, but it also exposes you and makes you a target for other things.

“The bright light might attract the ‘ghosts’ from other buildings, so you’d better be careful.”

"If you don't turn on the lights, are you going to let us light candles?" The bald prisoner had just complained when he saw Li Guo'er take out a few candles from her backpack.

"That's outrageous."

Some players lit candles, while others used the lights on their phones, and they slowly made their way to the fourth floor.

“Have you noticed that there’s something wrong with those ads posted on the steps?” Qianye, who was at the back of the group, suddenly spoke up. He was dressed in a flashy manner and gave off a somewhat frivolous vibe, but his tone was gradually becoming serious: “Besides ads for locksmiths and drain cleaning, there are also a lot of missing person notices, but the children’s faces on those ads are all scratched up.”

"Instead of cleaning up those locksmith ads, they go out of their way to ruin the faces of the kids on missing person posters. Is there some kind of psychopath living in this building? Does he just not want those kids to find their way home?" Ah Chong quickly understood what Qianye meant.

“It’s also possible that the missing child is in this building.” Li Guo’er, who was leading the way, stopped on the fifth floor. Looking at the half-open security door in front of her, her anxiety reached its peak.

"I saw a ghost for the first time here during the day. You guys keep watch in the stairwell. I don't know what will happen next."

Li Guo'er slowly opened the security door, and the pungent smell of disinfectant wafted out of the house.

F pulled Ah Chong along closely behind Li Guo'er, and the three of them entered the room first.

Ah Chong placed the lit candle in the corner of the living room and was about to call the others in when he suddenly heard chewing sounds.

It sounded more like someone who had worn down their own teeth was gnawing on something than chewing.

Following the sound, Ah Chong saw that the bedroom door was ajar, and half a face was looking at him from behind the door.

"The bedroom! There's someone in the bedroom!"

Ah Chong pointed to the depths of the room. Before he could finish speaking, he felt a dizzying sensation as a hand grabbed his ankle.

"help me!"

As she slammed into the bedroom door, Ah Chong saw a bald human face. The woman was deformed, with thick limbs, and was holding a medicine bottle in her hand, seemingly trying to force a bottle of medicine into Ah Chong's mouth.

"Get out of the way!" F grabbed Ah Chong's collar and slashed at the woman behind the door with a black knife.

The medicine bottle fell to the ground, and what it contained wasn't pills at all, but rather a child's teeth.

The woman in the bedroom was terrified. She grabbed the pipe outside the window with her strong limbs and escaped through the window.

"What kind of monster is that?" Ah Chong collapsed to the ground, so frightened that he began to stutter. If F had arrived a moment later, he probably would have eaten the children's teeth.

"I don't know." F shook his head, then looked at Li Guo'er: "Is she the ghost?"

“Ghosts are untouchable, so it must be something somewhere between a ghost and a human.” Li Guo’er wasn’t entirely sure either: “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen one.”

Everyone was a little nervous, but Han Fei walked towards F at this moment, his gaze completely fixed on the black knife in F's hand.

"What are you looking at?"

"A knife..." Han Fei felt that the other party's knife looked familiar, especially the hilt.

Whenever Han Fei saw that knife, his five fingers would unconsciously clench, as if there was some kind of connection between him and that knife.

F noticed Han Fei's gaze, and his eyes became strange, but he didn't say anything, only putting away the black knife.

"Don't covet what doesn't belong to you."

"Really?" Han Fei couldn't remember. He hadn't had a conflict with F and began to inspect the room.

Various pills were scattered around the small room. There were many notes on the refrigerator, dining table and television, all of which contained instructions on when to take the medication and precautions.

Seeing this, Han Fei felt a sense of resonance, just as he had felt in that unfamiliar home before.

The woman claiming to be his mother would bring out a large bag of medicine from the hospital and feed it to him continuously.

"Number 11 has similar experiences to me. What does this number mean? If we are the same type of people, then what is my number?"

Walking to the window, Han Fei looked outside. Building No. 11 was surrounded by other buildings, and the people living there seemed to be trapped at the bottom of a well, unable to climb out no matter how hard they struggled.

"Come quick! Someone come quick! Look at this!" Ah Chong's scream rang out, and the players curiously gathered in that direction. The storage room near the bedroom was piled with all sorts of handmade human heads.

The heads were all arranged in pairs, one male and one female, and there were twenty-two of them in total.

"Did Number Eleven make lifelike head models for everyone who adopted him?"

"Did Number Eleven turn all the people who adopted him into dolls?"

Li Guo'er and Han Fei looked at each other at the same time, and their subconscious guesses were both somewhat alarming.
